In the future after 2021, I intend to be completing my Doctor of Pharmacy degree. A few years later, I see myself graduating the University of Madison School of Pharmacy with high honors. As I continue my journey, my next step is to find a job which will help me grow as a pharmacist. Once I first start out, I hope to find a job in a city in order to get a improved understanding of my field and expand my relationships. Once I settle down with a family, I intend to return to Marinette as I believe it is a wonderful family town. I feel as though in Marinette, I will have numerous opportunities to pursue my career and also will have the ability to excel in careers fairly quickly. The career path that I want to pursue is in the medical field. I major in psychology and minor in biology because going to medical school has always been my desire. Being a pediatrician is my goal I wish to conquer. I am beyond interested and passionate about this career. It is not just a career, it is my life dreams. I want to be able to enjoy going to work every day knowing I love my job and I am here because I want to. Being a pediatrician I am able to work with children and many people of different cultures. I am thrilled to know that I will be capable of caring for sick children.
As the profession of pharmacy continues to grow, many pharmacists are becoming less satisfied with their jobs. There are many different factors that contribute to this decrease in satisfaction which are ultimately impacting patient care and safety. Although the studies performed by Munger and Mott were primarily focused on pharmacists in community and independent settings, these factors may also be prevalent in other settings. According to Munger, over 50% of pharmacists stated that they are not satisfied with their current job. Job stress and work-home conflicts are main factors that have been shown to contribute to a lack of pharmacist’s satisfaction.
The earliest glimpse of my future was at an elementary career day years ago. When I filled out what I was going to dress up as I wrote the word, “farmacist.” My mom was a pharmacist and I looked up to her and wanted to be just like her! So when career day rolled around I dressed in a white coat carrying a big bottle full of M&M’s to dispense to my classmates. Now so many years later here I am actually about to take on graduate school and follow in my mother’s footsteps to become a pharmacist. My passion and talent for math and science in high school allowed me to seriously consider a career in engineering. After review of my skills, interests, and experiences, I decided to pursue the medical career field as my first career choice, more specifically as a physician assistant. I will exceed in this position in the interest of that I like to help people and I solve problems well. Also, I communicate well with others and I have a great amount of patience. There are various careers that fit my skills and interests, but this one grabs my attention. My dream job is to be a doctor, but this occupation allows one to save money by lessening the years of school required. Also, the pay isn’t too shabby either. I will be successful in this position due to my skills, characteristics, and values, like honesty and helping others. Up to this point, I have job shadowed at a medical billing company and I like the idea of diagnosing and helping people, but a desk job is not ideal. Also, I took a medical terminology as a class and I discovered that I like how the body works and what it does. These factors have all influenced my career goal.

The importance of the becoming a pharmacist should not be about what the career can give a person in monetary value or the amount of accolades one receives. Instead, the career should be about saving and improving human lives and serving the public. Pharmacists keep people healthy, make them feel better, and try to help the public live longer and happier lives as long as possible. From small infant children to the elderly, everyone needs pharmaceutical care. Sometimes it can be a matter of life and death if medication is not available to the public. Pharmacy as a career would be a wise decision if a person could withstand the amount of education the profession entails.
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward.
