I am writing to you to express my interest in the Johns Hopkins Pharmacy Internship Program for the summer of 2016. Over the past year I have had the pleasure of speaking with two other LECOM pharmacy students who have been lucky enough to participate in your prestigious program. The enthusiasm and eagerness they expressed while talking about their experiences further strengthened my desire to participate in this particular internship.
This program offers everything that I am looking for in an internship. I am seeking an internship that will be demanding and enable me to utilize the skills that I have learned as well as give me the chance to expand upon them. It would provide me many opportunities to grow and broaden my knowledge base by shadowing multiple healthcare professionals, working in interdisciplinary teams, learning medication use policies, completing multiple independent projects and attending lectures, panels, meetings, journal clubs and presentations. All of these experiences would be challenging yet educational and would ultimately introduce and prepare me for the vigorous curriculum and intensity of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency. I believe these experiences are necessary

This internship would also provide me the opportunity to improve upon my leadership skills. The mentoring I would receive by the pharmacy department would allow me to become a more valuable leader which would eventually enable me to help shape the future of pharmacy practice. Ultimately, my primary goal is to complete a PGY1 and PGY2 residency and pursue specialized training in one of my areas of interest including critical care, emergency medicine or adult
• Organize inventory and alert pharmacists to any shortages of medications or supplies • Accept payment for prescriptions and process insurance claims • Enter customer or patient information, including any prescriptions taken, into a computer system • Answer phone calls from customers • Arrange for customers to speak with pharmacists if customers have questions about medications or health matters Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of pharmacists, who must review prescriptions before they are given to patients. In most states, technicians can compound or mix medications and call physicians for prescription refill authorizations. Technicians also may need to operate automated dispensing equipment when filling prescription orders. Pharmacy technicians working in hospitals and other medical facilities prepare a greater variety of medications, such as intravenous medications.
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides

By this point in my life I knew I wanted to do something to help people and it was then, that I realized, that I wanted to help keep our body running this way by helping people overcome their ailments and get on with their lives. From this moment I knew what my answer would be when the school asked, “Where would you like to complete your internship?” Every Thursday for four weeks I would go to Al-Mostaqbal Hospital in Ramallah, observe the day-to-day procedures of the doctors and nurses, and occasionally lend a hand when permitted. Over the course of the internship, I witnessed many different cases, ranging from a virally infected family of four to a premature baby to an unconscious man. I was taught a variety of things like how to properly check blood sugar, blood pressure, and heart rate using a smorgasbord of different tools and machines.
After having the opportunity to meet with you and interns, I became very interested in pursuing a position offered at University of Houston (UH). I believe that this internship is the best fit for what I am looking for in an internship professionally, personally, and financially.

Filling a Prescription In a Retail Environment By a Pharmacy Technician Most of the population requires some sort of medication to keep themselves healthy. Not everyone knows the full process of filling a prescription. This will explain in detail the step by step procedure in filling a prescription inside a pharmacy work area. These steps are performed by the technician, and then checked by the pharmacist to make sure all steps were performed correctly. Only then, does the medication get dispensed to the patient.

Throughout this internship at Northwestern Medicine, it was mostly an informative experience which I enjoyed because my interests were going into the medical field and I wanted to learn as much as I can. During this experience, I was put into the Neurology department which was my field of choice. A career as a clinical pharmacist seems to be the goal was working up to my entire life, even before I knew what it was.
