Becoming a successful pharmacist requires managing a variety of abilities and a multitude of responsibilities. Pharmacists do more than just dispense medication. They work closely with health-care professionals and physicians to help them make decisions about treatments and medications and find innovative solutions; they also consult countless patients about prescriptions or over the counter drugs. In order to do so, pharmacists should master those skills and most importantly their communication skills. Having work experience or cooperative education provides students the opportunity to discover career options in the future, exposure to the working environment and grow abilities to master those skills and advance a career. Defining the ideal job will fulfill one’s desire and help achieve maximum talent. There are all kinds of pharmacy jobs out there and it is not easy to find the best suited for the student. When working in a chain pharmacy which are CVS Health Corporation, Walgreens Corporation and Rite Aid Corporation, the pharmacists can choose between retail pharmacy, clinical pharmacy and specialty pharmacy. The clinical pharmacy is a patient-focused service. The pharmacists play a vital role in providing clinical services and consultation to the patient. They provide advice on medications on how to take them properly and safely in order to achieve the optimal outcome and assist the patients to make health related decisions appropriately. Retail pharmacy is another option for me. The pharmacists coordinate with health-care professionals, work with motivated colleagues in a friendly environment. They dispense systems in order to maximize efficiency and accuracy where they have to deliver care and provide guidance to the patient. They continually challenge to advance one’s career and grow abilities. Specialty pharmacy might also be an option for me since it is also a patient-centric setting but involves more complex situations in which the pharmacists deliver highly specialized care working with the patient to provide individual care with the ones who need the most support. They develop a personal, respected, trusting relationship with the patients to support them in building healthier lives and achieve a maximum health outcome from a medication by providing expert advice and counseling on drug interactions, side effects and the appropriate dosage.
