Safety First: Winter Fun with your Pets
It's that time of year when we are all ready to snuggle up by the fire under some warm blankets. Snow may already be on the ground in your area, but if you haven't seen any just yet, it's on the way. While you are busy making sure that you and your kids are properly bundled up for the cold months of winter, there is another family member you should focus on at the same time; your pets.
While taking care of your pet throughout the year is important, it is especially important during winter. Here are some things you can do to keep your pets safe while still allowing them to enjoy the winter weather at the same time.
Keep them Hydrated
The heat of summer may have vanished, but you still need to be aware of your pets' water intake. During the winter, you may even need to pay closer attention to their access to water because

This will ensure that they always have access to clean water regardless of how long your trip is. Dehydration is something that could result from not following this advice. If your pet becomes dehydrated, it is possible for them to have trouble staying healthy. Since this is challenging during the winter to begin with, dehydration could make it even more likely that they become ill.
Keep them Inside
As much as possible, you should try to keep your pets inside during the winter. Naturally, you will still want to take them out to use the bathroom and for some fun in the snow, but you should minimize this as much as possible.
When you do take your pets outdoors, prepare for the trip carefully. Remember, their paws are tender and will become cold very quickly when they are walking around. For this reason, it is best to invest in some pet shoes that will protect their feet while they are outdoors. To keep them warm, you may even want to have them wear a jacket or a sweater that is designed for their size and breed of
To start of we all know that driving in Winter all drivers experience low visibility which causes all drivers to take it slower than usual. Before thinking about driving in Winter, you need to make sure you know how to handle snowy and icy roads before getting behind the wheel. All it takes is the smallest patch of ice or snow to cause you to skid of the road, which could cause life threatning injuries
I really enjoyed "Puppies, Dogs, and Blue Northers" by Gary Paulsen, because it was a story about his life. In the book Paulsen shows the true outdoors. He explains that he lives in northern Minnesota in a small house with his wife, Ruth and son, Jim. They have electricity but they do not have a television. In their small house the only heat source they have is a woodstove. Paulsen explains, that he is usually the first one to wake up and is consequently the person who has to get the morning fire started. He explains about his dog kennel he has. It is composed of all of his sled dogs that he raises. Paulsen is a sled dog racer and has raced in the Iditarod a few times. The story shows true friendship between Paulsen and his dog Cookie. This
Another way to keep healthy during winter is to not eat so much junk food and not so many pies!!! This will help you because if you eat so much junk food you will get unhealthy and that's never good. You also want to keep your summer muscles, and your summer fitness goals.
The differences between driving in the winter and driving in the summer are greater than the similarities. Driving in the heat may be manageable while driving a car that has a functioning AC, but if your AC doesn’t work you’ll be uncomfortable the whole ride. But let’s say you’re driving during the winter and your heater doesn’t work, you could simply dress in warm clothing to fix that issue. As for the similarities, both seasons require your cars heating
The winter will last 8 to 10 months followed by the short and much less cold summer. During the summer some lower areas of the Tundra will defrost at which point most of the flora and fauna will start to creep out of hiding. The few summer months are used by many animals such as the polar bear, to mate and to prepare for the once again oncoming winter. During the winter months, most everything remains frozen. Many of the animals migrate south for the winter whereas some stay behind or even group together for ritual group suicide (lemmings).
Winters can get severely into freezing temperatures. During the winter months December, January, and February, snow a...
In think that everyone should use winter tires in winter because all-season tires get too hard in the summer to use in winter, Ontario and British Colombia have seen a 20% improvement in accidents when drivers are required to use winter tires. Summer tires have almost no grip in snowy conditions and slow down the process of stopping, accelerating, and turning, which puts you and others on the road in danger. Winter tires have rubber compounds formulated to stay soft for better traction in cold weather, something that all-season tires don’t have. Winter tires do a better job of digging in the snow to provide the best traction. While all season tires just slide on roads covered in ice or snow.
“At least 136 dogs have suffered and died on the Iditarod trail since records of the race have been kept” according to help End The Suffering Of Dogs Used In The Iditarod. The Iditarod is a dog sled race held in Alaska between Anchorage and Nome. The race covers nearly 1,000 miles of rugged Alaskan terrain and often is held in temperatures as low as -50° Celsius with wind gusts into the 80 mph range. Some people think that the Iditarod is good for the dogs and that they are meant for this. They are wrong and don’t know the many detrimental effects the Iditarod can have on the dogs and cause through the actions done in its wake. In this essay, we will talk about how the Iditarod is unsafe for dogs and why it is thought to be potentially “a
Do you love hiking, especially with your pet dog? Dogs love spending most of their time in fun-filled activities. They even love hikes apart from regular walks or spending time with other dogs in the dog park. When they are involved in such activities, it is definitely important to keep your dog hydrated. Though most of the dog owners spend their time researching about how to feed their pet, how to take care of him, what is the best diet, etc., they don't realize the importance of keeping their pet hydrated. Like humans, about 80 percent of the pets' body comprises of water. The amount of water required for your dog depends on its weight, climate, diet as well as exercise. Hence, it is important to know the physical features of your dog and take complete care of it both in terms of diet and health.
In winter, there are many great activities to do and play. First, winter contains something that no other season contains which is snow. A water supply is not always readily available in all locations, leaving many animals with out water. Furthermore, with out water, cleaning becomes a low priority. This is very hard on animals especially elephants who bathe frequently in their natural environment.
You will realize that a well-trained dog can fit anywhere it is taken. You can go with it for camping, hiking and so on. This is because it is not likely to be a nuisance to others.
In cold weather, it’s crucial for all pet owners to fully understand your pet’s limits. While they do have fur coats to keep them warm, they shouldn’t be left outside when temperatures drop, especially
It's very important as a parent to take good care of your dog's health and protect him/her during such harsh weather conditions. Also, it's not just for protection, it'll help you take your dog for a walk in the rain
