Good morning fellow members of the Youth Assembly , I am Marco Rodrigues from South Africa and I will be speaking to you about solutions for affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
Due to the ever growing world population and increasing of wealth, the demand for energy – especially electricity – is continuously rising, for the 1.3 billion people who don’t have access to it.
Energy should generate a reliable stream of power to meet basic human needs, maintain and improve social functioning, and advance living standards. It should also fulfill these tasks as sustainably as possible. The power produced by energy use should be much greater than the resulting waste and pollution. All sustainable energy must be modern, although

An important condition of affordability is raising income levels and purchasing power and controlling the impacts that impersonal economic forces operating at global levels have on the costs that people face on an everyday basis.
Affordability is meaningless, if energy provision is unreliable. In many parts of the developing world, energy sources are often scarce and their supply irregular. Today, 20 per cent of the world’s population still lacks access to electricity, and a larger share suffers from insistent power failures. Basic economic activity depends on a steady supply, forceful governance, and an efficient and stable distribution system.
Solutions need to be found at the global scale, where Governments and agencies must work together. International climate change agreements are the most noticeable. In terms of policies, the transfer of clean energy technologies to developing countries is an important example. International climate change agreements—such as the clean development mechanism (CDM) provide for the transfer of clean energy. Solutions must also be developed locally. Benefits from CDM, do not always reach the local level, particularly in disadvantaged rural areas. The careless search of biofuels at the global and regional levels may result in unintentional severe environmental degradation. The

JUSTIFICATION: In researching the possibilities that the bite marks can be falsely identified, I found that the analysis is not always an accurate way to identify the suspect, that being said I think that we should reconsider the partial bite mark being used as evidence.

Good evening, to whomever is reading this letter, I am very furious about the radio broadcast that was broadcasted on Halloween. I was in my kitchen cooking dinner when I turned on the radio to listen to a little music and I heard a loud noise and people screaming. I had no idea what was going on, I felt as if the world was ending and my life began to flash before my eyes.
The world that we live into today affords us the expectation that the flip a switch will turn the lights on. As populations increase and developing nations undergo dramatic economic growth, this energy demand will only continue to grow. The International Energy Agency (IEA) believes that “the world’s energy needs could be 50% higher in 2030 than they are today” (ElBaradei). Given this projected growth, it is necessary for world leaders must take action to secure the energy supply. Meaning that world leaders need to start seriously considering an alternative to non-renewable energy sources. “In 2012, the United States generated about 4,054 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. About 68% of the electricity generated was from fossil fuel (coal, natural gas, and petroleum), with 37% attributed from coal” (U.S. Energy Information Administration). The fossil fuels that are used to supply over half of our country’s energy are in finite supply and are increasing in price to astronomical heights.
For years man has relied on energy in order to be successful in life. The industrial revolution relied on coal for the new inventions brought into the world. Life as has never been the same since then. However since that time, there has been little done to improve on energy efficiency and humans still primarily rely on fossil fuels for energy. For over a hundred years the Earth has become more polluted and dirtier than ever before. Now, with new, innovative technology there is an opportunity to change that and to rely on renewable, cleaner sources of energy. The main source of energy for the world should be alternative energy instead of energy from fossil fuels.
