Drunk driving is very dangerous and has become a serious problem in today’s world. People who are drunk and behind a steering wheel tend to drive carelessly. Many people across the nation die every day due to drunk driving incidents. Statistics show that “Every day in America, about 27 people die as a result of drunk driving accidents” (Madd “Drunk Driving”). To prevent drunk driving and the death of innocent men, women, and children, society must promote education, increase punishment, and limit the sale of alcohol. One way to prevent drunk driving is to promote education. A scary statistic shows that “Teen alcohol use kills 4,700 people each year - that’s more than all illegal drugs combined” (Madd “Underage Drinking”). Kids need to be taught at a young age about the dangers of drunk driving. One way to teach them about drunk driving is having speeches for the students throughout the school year. Speeches will allow the children to learn about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Schools should get an outside person, who has experience with drunk driving, to come share their past with students and explain the why they shouldn’t drink and drive. Typically children will look up to their parents more than any other person they come in contact with. Parents can teach their children about the dangers drunk driving has not only on their lives, but others as well. Parents should take the responsibility of preaching to their children about drunk driving so they don’t put their kids’ lives in danger. They should hold their children accountable for the choices they make with alcohol. People will argue that some parents are not qualified to be teaching their children about drunk driving because of their past, but people with a rough past give some of the best advice there is to
