While most people say that by going to the Zoo you are having a wonderful experience and learning a lot, some people strongly disagree they might even say that the people that work at the zoo now less than what the signs on the front of the exhibits say. Why should they be working there if they don’t know how to take care of the animals they are working with. Zoos are horrible prisons that are harming animals and making them unhealthy until they die or they kill them.
Zoos are prisons where they are harming animals by not giving them the things they need and instead provide them with the wrong things. “Compared to their homes in the wild, animals have considerable less space in captivity. To put it into perspective, tigers and lions have around

“Flamingos in cold climates, polar bears in Argentina, and whales in bathtubs — these are hardly natural environments for animals...an unwanted wallaby was drowned to death when the owner no longer wanted it...Not all zoos have the ability, or proper training to care for the animals”(Source:http://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/10-reasons-to-skip-your-next-zoo-visit/ ) Zoos need to have a reality check. They say that all there animals are happy and healthy well than if they are happy and healthy then why are they showing zoonoses and being killed? Well that is because of how they are being treated and how much these people that take care of them are not well informed. Zoos make animals unhealthy to the point that they kill the animals and most likely feed the dead animals to the alive ones that get the most money for zoos. “The Humboldt penguins at Scarborough Sea Life Centre have been prescribed antidepressants because they’re so unhappy...Because the Gaza Zoo painted stripes on these donkeys to make them look like zebras...Because when baby animals who were exhibited in the Minnesota Zoo’s yearly farm display grew up and lost their youthful appeal, the zoo sent them to livestock auctions...Because a bear starved to death at the Toledo Zoo after zoo officials locked her up to hibernate without food or water…”(Source: http://www.peta.org/features/zoo-animal-abuse/ ) These are all/ most of the things that zoos are doing wrong and what
Keeping animals locked in cages, bored and cramped up in such a small space is an awful sight to show the children. It creates an image in the little minds of children that animals are to be treated like they don’t matter. They say Zoos are a place where children can learn about the wild, exotic animals, but in reality it doesn't teach them anything only that they are meant to be caged up, which is wrong. Also, it is really painful to see the animals bored and lonely, so why should people keep letting them do this to these beautiful creatures. Animal captivity for entertainment should end to let them go to their rightful home.
Zoos and other places that have animals are a great place for families or even just people to visit. They are entertaining for young children to see the different kinds of animals, yet still enjoyable for adults as we as humans never cease to be fascinated by them. How could a place that seems so wonderful, be so bad? It isn’t.
As a kid, I had always looked forward to days at the zoo. I was, however, far more interested in the jungle-themed surroundings than the educational parts. I was told that zoos protected animals and took good care of them. Now I'm not too sure that's the truth. Animals like tigers, lions, and elephants are born to live and grow up in the wild. They aren't meant to live inside of a cage in a zoo. Not only that, but the animals' health isn't as good as you'd expect. Although lots time and money has been spent on zoos, animals are still suffering. Zoos are fun and exciting for kids and tourists, however, the animals aren't enjoying it as much as us.
Zoos often claim they are modern day arks, providing a safe, comfortable environment; making animals happy and content; educating the world about wildlife; and saving species from the brink of extinction while at the same time providing vital research into the lives of animals. There is a moral presumption against keeping wild, defenseless animals in captivity. The zoo is a prison for animals who have been sentenced without a trial. Either we have duties to animals or we do not. I feel that we have a duty and responsibility to animals and need to provide them with respect not neglect.
Zoos are public parks that claim to display animals for the purpose of education and procreation of endangered species; but in reality Zoos area actually doing more harm than good. Animals that live in zoos are more likely to suffer from illness or injury as opposed to those who live in the wild, and they also have shorter lifespans.
As if that alone isn’t enough to prove that zoos are cruel and unfair, there are many professionals and experts who gravely look down upon zoos, too. Delcianna Winders, director with the PETA foundation, said “Renowned oceanographer Jean-Michel Cousteau reported that he was forever changed after witnessing a captive dolphin commit suicide by ramming his head into a tank wall.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Families strolling, children squealing with glee, and adults gazing with interest; A typical day at the zoo. Animal-lovers rush throughout zoos in search of their favorite feline or lizard, while children smack on popcorn as they tap on glass enclosures. For hundreds of years people have gone to zoos in seek of entertainment. The zoo provides a fun and educational time for families, but the joy of seeing adorable creatures blinds spectators from seeing the pain zoo animals live with. People do not realize the harm zoos do to animals. Zoos throughout the world should be banned due to their unethical practices; they cause animals mental distress, place them in unnatural habitats, and do little to conserve species in danger of extinction.
This is just one of many examples of zoos going under fire for choices they have made. Some people like zoos because it gives them a chance to see animals that they might not be able to see on a normal day. However, zoos should be discontinued because they are cruel, ill-equipped,
Zoos don't really care about their animals they just want to entertain their guests. Onlookers are entertained as a cow fights for her life trying to throw off two lions according to the article,”changing attitudes to zoos. ”also In 2009 a south korean tv show filmed a small terrified bear being placed inside a tiger enclosure at everland park according to the article ,”world's leading zoo association accused of overlooking horrific cruelty.”
Zoos are no exception to this rule, there are arguments about the ethical issues on it with organizations on both sides of the arguments very avidly proving their points. However, it all comes down to what is best for the animals. They don’t have a voice to speak out and explicitly say what is best for them. After analyzing both sides to the question of should animals be kept in zoos, the more convincing argument is yes, they should, but only certain species. Those animals who are endangered or are unsafe in their natural environment out in the world need the assistance of zoos to keep their species from doing extinct.
Close your eyes and picture yourself as a large polar bear in a scorching hot enclosed cage with little children banging on the glass and then stalking everywhere and just wish for privacy for just 1 second. You pace back and forth worried about your family and your cubs that were left in the wild without their parents and wonder if you'll ever be happy again and ever reunite with your loving family ever again. Although zoos educate children and adult about the endangered animals and all the species they're not helping at all because it shortens their lifetime so a number of animals that are in the world right now will probably stay the same. One animal passes away and another is born. Zoo’s sound very professional but the reality is that they don’t know anything about them. They deserve freedom they also have rights. Now I will make you never go to the treacherous zoo ever again!
Zoos are an unsuitable environment for wild animals and should, therefore, be abolished. Firstly, zoo animals are kept in a very confined area compared to their vast natural habitat. Secondly, breeding programmes are far less successful than zoos claim. Thirdly, zoo animals are exposed to many diseases and other dangers. Zoo animals are usually kept in very cramped enclosures and do not behave like their wild counterparts.
However, zoos always evoke reactions. Many people appreciate the opportunity to see the animals, save the ones which are on the verge of extinction, and educate the public, while the advocates of animal right contend that human
If the animals aren't doing so good in the zoo that they are in they can give the animal to another zoo where the climate is more suitable for the animal and people obviously want healthier animals. The zoos can also save endangered animals. And that's reason
Ordinarily, in nearly all zoos, animals are being harmed. This is unacceptable and should not be condoned. As Tim Zimmermann has said and published, “ those certain animals simply do not do well in zoos, and many facilities, even employ antidepressants.” This shows dissatisfactory with animals. Did you know that zoos’ main focus is how much money they generate more than the health of the animals? Also, zoos do not provide animals enough space to live; there are numerous ways that they can help this problem.
