Tattoo’s that are removable are not romantic, and it’s the wuss way to do it. I believe that the main idea of this article is how she got a tattoo that most people would regret because of how much she picked at it, but she didn’t regret it like most people would. In one of the paragraphs she says how even though her tattoo is blurry, scarred, and bad-looking, but she still has no regrets about it unlike 17% of the people in America who have tattoo’s.
These tattoos are usually done by unlicensed artists, outside of parlors and are popular among young adults.
Many people have tattoos and never actually understood how tattoos last. Tattoos are permanent. A needle goes into the skin at rate of hundreds of vibrations a minute. The needle goes through the top layer of the skin, which is called the epidermis, and goes deeper into the skin to the dermis. The ink particles are huge for the white cells to remove. The dermis is balanced so the ink will last forever. Fading in the tattoo may occur as you grow older, but to remove a tattoo, you need to have a chemical peel, dermabrasion, or a laser procedure, which will take years to disappear.
Tattoos have been utilized in various ways for thousands of years, ranging from punishment, to status symbols and indications of religious beliefs. They have served as the ultimate illustration of cultural diffusion in America, and despite generally carrying a negative social stigma, perception of tattoos has continued to evolve into a more acceptable practice.
The visual aspects of tattoos have changed and evolved enormously since the days of Sailor Jerry, and it is one of the things that excites me the most. There are so many more styles now that it would be impossible to just do Old School tattoos. This means that I will be learning many more styles of the art form and hopefully creating a few of my own. Visually, anything that can be put on paper can now be put into skin. When anyone decides to get a tattoo, they usually think the ink will last forever. Unfortunately, time is always not on our side when it comes to us getting older and having tattoos. Blake Schwaller- a tattoo artist, states, “With each splitting of a cell to create a new one, a small fraction of your tattoo ink moves to another location in the new cell ”(Schwaller,Blake- Section 4). As this process happens more and more, fading will result to the tattoo. The ink will also break down in the tissues of the skin causing it to spread and fade. There is not really a way to stop this process as new skin cells have to regenerate constantly.
The perception of tattoos and those wearing them has varied in societies since tattoos first started being used. Some of the reasons people had/have tattoos include: therapy, protection, homage, memory, religion, or a dumb mistake. In historic cases, tattoos were used as a way to communicate with others, and were a common occurrence in most societies throughout history. Schildkrout states “There is no culture in which people do not, or did not paint, pierce, tattoo, reshape, or simply adorn their bodies (Schildkrout).”Since modern technology has made tattoos relatively affordable, faster and slightly less painful to receive, tattooing has shifted from select groups to “everyone else”. There are no specific groups for tattoos anymore, they are seen everywhere on all types of people and are less discriminated agains...

It seems that today people without tattoos are becoming the unique ones. Tattoos now have become part of a mainstream culture that attracts and entices many. Research shows that 45 million Americans have some sort of tattoo, and out of those people 27 percent regret getting it. In my opinion, I think tattoos are important because it allows people to express themselves. It allows people to remember their deceased loved ones. It can give someone confidence or let them feel a bit rebellious. Thousands of year ago people didn’t use tattoos like we do today.

Tattoos have been a very controversial topic among the generations of Americans. However, they have seemed to get a lot more popular with the Millennial generation. What started out as something for sailors and military personnel has now grown to become a somewhat mainstream practice. However there are still negative connotations that come with getting tattoos and I believe tattoos are pieces of art and why someone gets a tattoo is just as important as what they get a tattoo of.
After the interview with the tattoo artist at Skin Canvas Tattoo Studio, we learned many facts about the chemicals used and the tattoo procedure. We learned that they have a disinfectant called Madacide-FD that can kill the HIV (AIDS) virus, Herpes, and Hepatitis. We also learned that they are extremely careful with all of their patients and treat them as if they had HIV, so they cover the bed and the tools in madacide and plastic to prevent anyone from getting infected. We also learned about the risks there are when it comes to getting a tattoo. Overall we believe the interview went better than we expected for the reason that we had fun talking with the artists and learned several facts ourselves.
Many people regret their tattoos at some point and this is a cause for tattoo removal. That is an expensive, lengthy, and painful process. There is a correlation between the age in which you acquire a tattoo and how likely you are to regret it. The amount of time spent thinking about getting a tattoo and influence if you will someday regret it. People who tend to get tattoos at a younger age are more likely to regret their tattoo and wish for removal. Others (25 years and older) are much less likely to regret their tattoo and are satisfied with their decision. Many people who got a tattoo under the influence of either drugs or alcohol are also more likely to regret their tattoos compared to others who decided soberly.
