In the current situation the first step that needs to be taken to stop the kid from bullying and taking drugs is to talk to him and make him realize what he is doing is wrong. This talk should behind closed doors and more on a personal level. Sometimes the bully is acting out because he or she has witnessed trauma in the past. It is good to be aware that bullies are victims and face emotional distress too. As mentioned by Dan Bloom (2008), researchers found that bullies are more likely than their classmates to suffer from low self-esteem, depression, and behavioral problem from early childhood and through primary school. The teacher’s first job should be to find out what is causing his behavior and what is shifting their emotions. In addition, find out if he had any crime related incidents outside of school. In fact, the use of marijuana can affect the student’s memory, which could affect their grades in school. In addition, taking drugs at a young age affects the development of the brain. Keeping the student busy with something else is a great way at avoiding the use of drugs. Most people who take drugs, especially students are normally bored. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, a review of 48 relevant studies found marijuana use to be associated with reduced educational attainment and several other studies claim the use of marijuana increases criminal behavior and lowers life satisfaction. I would also suggest warning the student and providing examples about what drugs can do to an individual. My sister started smoking cigarettes at a young age, but she quit in less than a month because my mother showed her what happens to a long-term smoker.
