We know it as the race that stops a nation. For a race that only lasts for a few minutes, months of painful training is undergone by the horse that is to partake. The horse must train until it is able to run 800 meters in between 46 and 50 seconds. I’ll assist you to imagine how much they must suffer to reach this goal. It is not uncommon for the horses to have torn ligaments and tendons, dislocated joints and even fractured bones due to their training. Why? Because at the age of two, these horses’ skeletal system is still immature and not ready for the hard training of the racing world. The horses must consume high-grain diets during their training; together with this diet and their endurance of excessive stress, gastric ulcers are caused.
Once you get them to settle down and get there mind focused on just walking and the rider then you know the bond with the rider and horse are strong. When it is time for the second run of the night you want to warm them up again but not as hard this time because he or she has already been warmed up once before this, so just a little warming up won’t hurt. When it is that time for the second run the rider will bring the horse him a set him or her up for their first barrel and make the most of the race. If you see the rider smiling then everyone knows she has done her job with this horse. The rider can make an automatic barrel horse where that horse know his job and she barely has to ask the horse for a turn or touch his face to go around that barrel. When the rider gets a horse to be like that everyone can tell they spent hours and days together. The rider worked with that horse but never made him sour or hate coming into the arena. They spent time working on flexing the horse and making sure he knew when to tuck his nose and leave it for an extra second. They will all see when they are running home how much they spend time they spend together if they are fast and smooth through the pattern and don’t have any blow ups before or after coming in and out of the arena. After the race is over and the announcer say who
An excited crowd waits expectantly to see the horse, cowboy, and calf burst out of the chute. Within seconds, the cowboy has the calf roped, on the ground, and tied. The action appears effortless. Two wranglers release the calf, and it trots out of the arena, seemingly unharmed. The question remains, are rodeos humane? That does the calf think of all this excitement? Contrary to what many people assume, PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) sanctioned rodeos treat their livestock humanely.

Grand champion! I was riding Fancy, a paint horse, at the Dallas County Fair in the Horsemanship class. In this class, I had to complete a pattern and it was judged on how well each horse and rider completed the pattern. The judge felt that Fancy and I performed best and awarded me with a big purple ribbon and a trophy with a horse on top. At the end of the fair, all of the grand champions were announced before the races. That was the final reward for successfully showing a horse in competitions.
When riding a horse you don’t just sit there and do nothing, You work hard to control a 800-1000 pound animal. You have to push your horse and yourself to the greatest you can be. It is a lot of work, it is just like any other sport. You have to go ride your horse at least 4 times a week, you practice in the wind, rain, snow, when it’s hot out, and event when it is freezing cold.
For decades, Scientists have contemplated the idea of using horses for the personal gain of children and adults with needs such as autism, heart conditions, anxiety, stress, and other disorders that have yet to be curable. Horses such as Chester, a twenty year old gelding has encouraged more young riders who face difficulties such as social skills, behavior skills, and those who are physically indisposed. Have you ever been to a horse race? Seeing the riders give their horses a pat and an apple after the race, people cheering for their horse as it runs rapidly to the finish line? Seems like a great time. But what happens to those horses after they are done their race. What happens to the people who gambled their family’s lives savings. All horse racing should be shut down due to the well being of the horses, the effects of gambling, and the lack of interest.
Deficient diets result in weight loss in the horse. Alternate causes of weight loss are internal parasites and diseases. Animal cruelty is an issue that gets plenty of attention in the U.S. From all the commercials to the donation hotlines and tee shirts everyone in the states knows that it is a relevant issue, but what about testing on animals? It’s not as relevant or discussed as other forms of cruelty, but the truth is we kill thousands of innocent animals all for the hope that maybe a wrinkle or two may disappear. This is horribly insensitive and cruel and I really can’t believe that we could do this to such innocent and loving creatures. We have to accept that animals are not ours. Cosmetic testing on animals is not only cruel but illegal in several countries; innocent animals are constantly losing their lives for our vanity.
