According to biblical texts, in the beginning, God created the first man, Adam and made him a woman, Eve. He gave Adam a woman, not a man, so that the human race can maintain a man/woman relationship. For thousands of years homosexuality has been misconduct or in the church’s case, sin. We are continuously beset with this controversial topic and have since reached a point where homosexuality is more open and more accepted than ever. Now, gay men and women fight for the right to be legally married in the United States. In Christianity, marriage is a lifelong commitment under God and many Christians believe this is a “major sin.” However, no matter the relation of man and woman or man and man, Homosexuals should be allowed to have a lifelong

population, especially youth and teenage audiences, have come to accept these types of relationships. There are numerous gay people in TV shows, such as Cameron and Mitchell Pritchett from the comedy show Modern Family and Will Truman from the most successful sitcom promoting a lead gay character, Will & Grace. TV shows past and present have had a huge influence in how society, and in many cases the youth of society, perceive homosexuality. Children/teenage minds are related to sponges; they see something and soak in all they see. The rise of gay roles in movies and TV has helped make them more welcome in society. We welcome them into our homes weeknights and go spend money on their movies, yet they still don 't deserve to be married. True, many Christian families will see this and change the channel, but when children and teenagers watch celebrities on these television shows, they begin to idolize them and see them as regulars, despite their sexual preference. If our government allows same sex marriages, it makes the youth see that these people are just like them and are in no way harm to their lives. President George Bush strongly opposed gay marriage along with most of America 's past and present legislators and politicians. For instance, Minnesota state senator Paul Koering openly came out the closet and admitted being gay when in the past he had voted against the attempted marriage amendments for gays to be legal to unify. Today, more than 35 states have legalized gay marriage. Homosexuals are adopting children because they cannot have one. They take children who were once starving and living in the streets, or abandoned, and take good care of them. I 'd rather see a child with a loving gay couple than to see it sleeping in the street with nowhere to go. Government officials in both state and national offices oppose these laws because if they allow same-sex marriage to occur, they will lose large amounts of votes and supporters will be appalled. The future looks grim for gay marriage with the conservative republicans holding office. Furthermore, legalizing same sex marriage can cause a chain reaction of hostility and violence. Many anti-gay organizations, some resembling the infamous Ku Klux Klan of the 1920’s, will form and be on the doorstep of same-sex couples.
