Why the basics of religion should be taught in school.

To this very day despite this being part of society since way back in the ancient times. Religion remains as a subject that many people are ignorant on. Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism: These are five of the major religions in the world that over 73% of the population on this Earth follows. Despite over 73% of the world being followers to any one of these religions, people remain dangerously ignorant to other cultures and beliefs whilst also some do not understand the concepts of their own faith and how it has affected society. On the 27th of June 2015, Gay Marriage is now legal in all 50 states of America. This is a remarkable and recent significant event to history that has become a highly controversial topic to today’s society. In many religions like Christianity, gay marriage and homosexuality is seen as a sin. We can see this in a bible line where it says ‘you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.’ Just because this is not what they believe in and what the Bible says, they should not become bias and unfair towards other beliefs and religions. With the teaching of basic religions from all over the world, students can be educated on how religion has impacted in the world. Without the understanding of it, how can we possibly move forward to a better future? Some would argue that religion would be better dead and gone, but it is severely unlikely it would be. Religion is here to stay whether we like it or not. The mindsets of some have been morphed into having a closed mind and following whatever they have been assumed to believe in is the truth and the right because these ideas were introduced by a loving and trusting family member and with that how could they possibly be
