Most if not all teens look forward to several events in their life. One of those events are getting a driver's license. This small piece of plastic is their ticket to freedom. Many people disagree over the topic of no pass/no drive rule, which says if you are doing bad in school you can’t get your driver's licence. I believe that you should be able to drive if you meet the requirements to drive a car, you shouldn’t be controlled whether you do bad in school or not. Technology is evolving faster than ever these days, however there is one technology that could revolutionize the transportation industry. This technology is called autonomous cars, also known as self-driving cars. Autonomous cars can be defined as a vehicle that is capable of sensing its environment, and navigating without human input. Using different techniques such as GPS and radar, autonomous cars can detect surroundings, thus removing the human element in driving. This would have a positive effect in more ways than we could ever imagine. Research suggests that self-driving cars will become more abundant in the future because they will be more cost-effective, enhance safety, and decrease traffic congestion.
Essentially, we want to make t so that there are always bikes that can be checked out and places to park a bike. This solution means attracting a group of people to use BikeShare that are willing to walk a couple extra blocks to get their bikes, in short it means having only those consumers who were planning on using BikeShare in the first place. BikeShare looses the possibility of attracting consumers on the spot. Because BikeShare relies on most of its consumers being tourists this spontaneous use is an important part of business. The reason tourists are crucial is that the other consumer option is locals without a bike or a local acting as a tourist. The first option, a local without a bike, will not likely use bikeshare because they already have a routine based upon the lack of a bike. If they go to places regularly they will have a preferred method of transportation (if they wanted to start using a bike, buying one would be much more economical than using BikeShare). Public transportation is an essential part of a city. A good public transit can encourage a city’s economic activities and can provide its citizen a convenient life. Does our Phoenix public transit work well? Does it provide sufficient service to the citizen? From my experience, the answer is no. This November I tried to attend the popular State Fair in Phoenix. However, I found that there were not any buses or metros could take me to the fair directly. It means I need 2 hours or more spend on the public transits. As the sixth most populous city nationwide (“Phoenix Quick Fact” 1), compared with Los Angeles and other big cities in America, Phoenix’s public transportation is indeed subpar. Due to Los Angeles has 154 bus lines and 30 metros (“Schedule”), New York has 316 bus lines and 28 subways(“Maps & Timetables”), while Phoenix only has 98 bus lines, and the number of metro line is only one!
