School we all have to do it and, get educated. It is great luxury to live in Canada to get educated. Nowadays there are more than one way to get educated such as public school, private school, homeschool, boarding school, online school, and there are even school that specialize so you have time for sports. You spend 6-7 hours there for 5 days a week for 9-10 months a year. School is great as you can visit with your friends and learn something new every day, but there are other thing that schools can improve on so that their students would like school more.
Something schools can work on is homework,. Why should students have homework if they already spend 6-7 hours a day doing work and then going home to do more work.. Most times homework

I feel like schools pick the coldest days for fire drills. Why can’t we do them on warmer days. Why can't schools do more at the beginning and end of the year when the weather is better. I think we all experienced that time in a practice fire drill and everyone is freezing while the teachers get to grab their coats and stay warm. I think the teachers should freeze with the students to help support warmer days to do fire drills. I believe that fire drills do not have to be on the coldest days but the warmest.
Another Thing that schools can work on is days off. Have you ever had a problem with your schools and still have to go. Like if the water or power is out. If schools know this before school starts why do students still have to go. This includes snow days. Why should students and teachers drive on dangerous roads to go to school. Why should teacher and students put themselves in danger to get to school.
In conclusions Schools are great but, there are some improvements that they can work on. I believe that there is no such thing as perfect as everything can have its improvements. Education is a great thing that we have the privilege to have so I think that we should take care of it and make these improvements. So in all I believe that this will help the students to help them reach their academic
...it, set higher aspirations, have better attendance, come to class more prepared to learn, and have fewer behavior problems” (Robbins and Alvy, 2009, p.178). These achievable improvements should be priority for school districts.
...iform policy, bullying, segregation, and distractions will not be the reasons of poor school environment. When all the negative effects are prevented, it would form a better place for students to learn and keeps them united.
Envision yourself in a deep sleep, your spouse lying next to you. For seven years of marriage, your greatest quandary has been your partners obnoxious snoring. Now, you are rattled awake by the wailing of your smoke detector, just outside your bedroom door. You hear the sobbing of your three month old baby boy from just down the hall, and feel the tug of you five year old son on the sleeve of your t-shirt. Forced out the second story window by the fuming blaze barricading the only outlet of the room, you free fall 22 feet onto the frozen ground. Beyond smoke inhalation and second degree burns, you now have a fractured ankle and several severe lacerations. Your spouse, your eldest son, and yourself are now free from the bloodthirsty inferno. Sirens howl, two blocks away. A rescue engine, equipped with three firefighters, is first on scene- 18 minute response time. A second engine arrives, equipped with three firefighters- 23 minute response time. Twenty-five minutes after the initial alarm, a hand line is pulled. Incident commander declares the residence unsafe for entrance. This rescue mission has now become a recovery mission.
Prescribed fires are a well debated topic. While many people support them because they "help prevent" more wildfires, and they are "controlled," I see from a different point of view. There's a reason most building don't allow smoking within a certain distance of the building. Many people don't like it and it can damage their health. Same thing with prescribed fires. They add more pollution to the air we breathe. I know a lot of people support these kinds of fires because the help control fuels, but there are other ways.
After studying the issue of homework, and the teacher’s influence upon it, I’ve come to realize homework may be overused in today’s educational system. I feel teachers are depending too much on outside education and not enough on in-class learning. Also, I believe the United States Government needs to develop a "homework standard". Educators in general need to come together and encourage students to learn in the classroom, and spend less time out of school doing countless hours of busy work. Teachers must look at the best interests of the students and base learning on communication in the classroom.
...he best way to discipline the students. It also takes away from the students academically. Many problems that the school system sees start at home with the parents and the environment that the child is living in.
There have been so many studies recently that talk about how homework has started to become more burdensome for more students. The United States has gone from teaching to shoving homework in kids’ faces to keep them on the idea that school is always there. Classes have been extended from 45 minutes each day to an hour and a half. This was supposed to allow students work time at the end of classes and get help when needed. Instead, teachers lecture from beginning to end. This gives no time for students to get the help they need when can’t come in any other time. The rationale has changed in America that doing more, always means doing better. This, however, can be the downfall to anything. There can’t be homework assigned just for busy work, that becomes a waste of time. The homework needs to be assigned as a thoughtful way to engage students, so they know what is being
This would be carried out by making a minimum of how many days a public school can have, and limit how long the breaks are in between. As many sources support this idea of year-round school, the best plan is called the 45-15. Students would go to school for 45 days and have 15 days off. This would only be a guideline as the state government would further regulate
The difference between old and new helmets, changes in turnout gear and other equipment used to fight fire, plus the history of firefighting is discusses in the research paper. Turnout Gear is the term used for pants and coats worn by firefighters today. More understanding on how fires burn , better fire proof clothing, and technology in equipment has changed over the years that these improvements have saved lives and helped in the safety aspect of fighting structure fires.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
People always try to convince me that their favorite show is in someway a show I should be watching. I do usually give their shows a gander, and with an open mind I sit and stare at the screen constantly comparing it to my all time favorite show: Firefly. Sure over the years I have sat back and watched many television shows that have excited my imagination and given Firefly a run for its money. Shows such as Lost, or Doctor Who, or Sherlock have left quite an impression on me, but none like the Joss Whedon masterpiece. In my opinion Firefly trumps all other TV shows.
The nine month school year basically allows for the school to shut down for three months. In order to have a year round school year they need to keep the electricity to regulate the temperature all year. Therefore, the school’s electricity bill goes up by four to eight percent, which can cause the teachers’ wages to go down. Lots of teachers become teachers strictly because they want to have time to spend with their own kids during the summer months but since it is year round schooling the teachers don’t get to because they are working. This can create serious scheduling issues for teachers to do things by themselves and with others. The teachers also think it is not a good idea because they feel rushed to cram things in the short weeks before frequent breaks, so they know that their kids won’t forget the subject."It was really hard to get involved in the work because as soon as you geared up, you had to gear back down
12) Some communities are relying on enacting rolling brownouts. It would be equally beneficial as well as dangerous. In the recent past, the budget cuts have become so large that loads of fire stations are on the verge of closing while many have already undergone closure. We, as workers in the fire department, cannot stay calm and watch this vital facility be methodically eradicated by violent expenditure cuts.
...ke school something that the students can look back on and think that it was a meaningful time where they learned a lot about life instead of a time where they thought they would have a break down because they got a low score on a test. School should be a time to make mistakes in a safe environment that they can learn from, not a place that they are petrified to make a mistake for fear of retribution on their grade cards. Its time to change the school system to save future students from becoming stress crazed and to let them know that there is more to this world than a grade card and in the long run it is a very small fraction of life.
After twelve years of school, it took me until now to figure out exactly why I had been there all those years. It was not to torture me by making me learn how to spell but to make sure that my classmates and I got the opportunity to make the most of ourselves. Opportunity that would come from learning as much as possible from books and beginning to see that the world focuses on more than just history and English . I owe my success in life and school to teachers who taught me to spell and to be respectful and responsible. Those quick to argue with me say that school's usefulness is shallow: deeper-real-life experiences truly educate a person. School should be seen not only as a place to study, but also as a place to learn about real life. People cannot depend on experience alone for education just as they cannot solely rely on information from school books to prepare them for life. The lessons, whether from a book or not, learned in school transcend the classroom to real life situations.
