On average two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime. Most drunk drivers drive after they’re over the legal alcohol level because they have impaired judgment. Impaired judgment makes the person think it is fine to drive under the influence. Usually, people can get out of a bar unnoticed, which means that anyone could get hurt by an accident caused by this driver. Drunk drivers should not get their licenses taken away for life, but go to jail and get a second chance. If someone is caught driving under the influence they should immediately be taken to jail, because they have done something that is against the law. Since driving under the influence is a harsh law, getting caught will send the driver to jail if they are not seriously injured in the accident. When the driver is caught for the first time they can likely avoid prison, but receive a suspended sentence of three to five years of informal probation. If the driver commits the same crime three times, they will go to prison for a mandatory sentence for up to 5 years. This is a fair punishment because yes, they still get penalized, but everyone deserves a second chance at everything. Getting a second chance does not completely get them off of the hook because it goes on their personal record for life which can hurt them when applying for jobs and other things. Kids in schools get second chances for everything, big or small, so shouldn't they? Everyone makes mistakes in their life so at least one more chance is well deserved. I am sure you have gotten in trouble in class and gotten a warning for it, that is the second chance for these convicts until it is
