ABORTION, YES OR NO? Abortion terminates a pregnancy by exterminating a life yet the mother is not charged with murder. Is this right? Surprisingly, this has happened approximately twenty million times in the past twenty years. Unfortunately, in South Africa, an unborn human has been killed legally due to the country’s inadequate laws! The killer of an innocent defenseless human is a murderer, thus, the person deserves the punishment equivalent to a murderer by law. Abortion on demand just gives a mother the “freedom of choice” to terminate her unborn child’s “right to life“. Would you end an innocent life just because of your irresponsibility? Abortions are often practiced by teenagers with insufficient life experience to fully understand …show more content…
All forms of murder, including abortion, put that same disregard for life into practice. Doctors will poison unborn babies with Saline solution or hack their bodies in pieces to extract them from their mother’s womb, which will choke, asphyxiate and eventually die. Yes, abortion is the immoral disregard for human life. But the so-called “pro-choice” movement is trying desperately to defend the practice and to label its opponents as illogical, irrational and outdated fanatics. The implication of the modern society is that those who are in favor of abortion are “up-to-date”, rational and logical. It is said that a foetus is not really a person but is only an appendage to the mother. Therefore, she has the right to remove this foetus just as she would a tumor. According to this argument, the infant’s body does not receive a human life until sometime shortly before birth or just after birth; which in both cases is a murder. Although abortion is now legal, it is still a murder, and the current abortion laws should not be repeated. Life begins at conception and, abortion is equivalent to murder as it is an act of taking human life away. Furthermore, most religions have also signified this issue. Therefore, abortion must be
One of the biggest issue of abortion goes back to the controversial question of when human life actually begins. Many people will often argue that a fetus is a living being from the moment of conception and feel that it deserves the same legal protections as an adult, therefore making it immoral to kill it. Just like in our court system, we would not put an innocent person on death penalty. The fetus has done nothing wrong and has the right to live. As the editor of Christianity Today wrote, "abortion is one of those monumental issues of justice that comes along once in a lifetime. It is violence against children, a hideous act of poisoning or dismembering tiny bodies, then dumping them in a landfill or garbage disposal." On the other hand, those who are for abortion say that a fetus is only a "potential human being." The advocates for legal abortions want the mother to choose whether she keeps the baby or kills it, and the rights of a mother supersede the rights of a baby. John M. Sw...
Abortion has long been a controversial debate affecting most societies, religion, and especially women. Anti-abortionists and pro-abortionists both propose many arguments against and for abortion. However, the most prominent argument comes from anti-abortionists who believe that “a fetus is a human being, and therefore abortion is murder.” However I agree with both Mary Anne Warren and Judith Jarvis Thompson in that women should have the choice of whether they wish to keep the baby or not. Although the traditional anti-abortion argument is strong, the arguments that both Thompson and Warren provide in their texts have convinced me that abortion is not murder.
Abortion is a voluminous topic today all around the world. Differing viewpoints on abortion are recognized in politics, religion, and throughout the general population. There is a small amount of people who are nonchalant on the subject. Women have abortions for many different reasons and according to certain groups these reasons are either justified or not. Everyone tends to have their own articulated opinion, and many vocalize tenaciously what they believe. Pro-life individuals along with religion are sanguine that abortion is ethically and morally erroneous. Whereas those who are pro-choice say that abortion is inconsequential and the mother’s choice is more important than the fetus. Reasons to not get an abortion include risks involved in receiving an abortion. In some cases death can occur. However, there are other alternatives to abortion. For example, raising the child and adoption.
Pro-Life supporters extenuate the unethical practices in removing a child from the womb, assert the act of aborting as murder and that it violates religious beliefs. On the other hand, Pro-Choice supporters rebuke these claims with the right of an individual, the promotion of a group called Planned Parenthood and the possibility of the unfair upbringing a child will have growing up in conditions his mother could not improve. Although abortion conflicts with certain morals and values, abortion should be legal to promote the education of family planning and sex through Planned Parenthood, to protect the rights women have and to save a child from a rough
Abortion has been a controversial debatable topic for years. Should women and young teens have the final say in if they feel the need to keep or abort an unwanted baby. In the case Roe v. Wade marked the legalization of abortion by a supreme court, which started the debate over abortion. Educating women and young teens on the dangers of abortion will help them make safe sound decisions on abortion and the many alternatives to consider before aborting a baby. The pros and cons of this debatable topic raises some serious issues of why women and young teens consider abortion to what time frame after conception is the embryo considered a life..
When it comes to abortion there is always much hostility when discussing the topic. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. This procedure often done when 28 weeks pregnant. Many people consider abortion to be cruel and an act of murder. Although some will advocate for abortions, those who have religious beliefs will say that no one but God has the right to take someone’s life. Those who support abortion do not consider an unborn child a human that should be protected. The issue of abortion is very difficult when determining if it’s right or wrong. Therefore, I am going to give my philosophical argument from the “pro-life” perspective.
Abortion is unlike any other subject debated today; millions of women have aborted a child, and the loss, pain, and emotional need to justify what was done, both on the part of the mother and on the part of her loved ones. Abortion is a gut-wrenching debate that has been going on for centuries, and does not plan to cool off anytime soon. The Supreme Court case in 1973, Roe vs. Wade, placed abortion on the map for the United States. The result of the Roe vs. Wade case legalized abortion to protect women’s health, however the good intentions of the ruling opened the doors for people to take advantage of the case outcome. Approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in the United States in 2011, which goes to show that women maybe abusing the privilege of the rules set in place to protect their health and practicing abortion as a form of contraception. Abortion is not only a dangerous procedure for women to endure, however it is also unethical to abort a child. Abortion is immoral because life begins at conception, people need to live with the consequences and not take the easy way out, and there are other available options.
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics for centuries. In medical terms abortion means terminating the human pregnancy buy expulsion from the uterus before birth. Abortion is just another name of killing an unborn child who still has a life ahead. For several years a mother has to take the decision of killing her own unborn baby for many said and unsaid reasons. The unborn child is not even safe in the safest place of the world its mother’s womb. Although today in many countries abortion is legalized but according to me it should be illegalized.
Even though abortion is legal in the United States it should be considered murder. The heart and brain are one of the first things to develop on the newborn baby, which can conclude that the baby has feelings (“Surgical Abortions”). A surgeon and a baby can be equivalent to a mechanic and the car it is working on, it is their job to get the car out and running in one piece. The difference between the car and the baby is that a car comes in parts and can be easily taken apart like most machines. All vehicles have multiple parts to them that can be taken away or can be added to them. But, once a child is taken away, they are gone forever, that specific child can never be brought back into the world unlike a machine such as a car. A single celled organism is considered a life; therefore, an unborn fetus should be considered a life as well. Sometimes, the circumstances surrounding a pregnancy may be tragic. Perhaps the woman was raped and became pregnant, the baby had been diagnosed with a defect, or the woman’s health might be at risk. Accordingly so, making an abortion seem like it may be okay due to those tragic events. However, one tragedy will not answer these problems with another one occurring. Murdering could be easily defined as killing somebody who does not want to be killed, as well as, cannot speak for one selves (Dictionary).
If this gruesome and disturbing death would be considered murder if performed on an adult, then it should be no different to an unborn baby. Sometimes babies are born alive from abortion. These babies then end up dying painfully and alone after seeing the world for such a short amount of time. Even pro-choice advocates seem to recognize that abortion is murder. Prochoice woman Merle Hoffman says “You don’t have to argue that abortion stops a beating heart.
A mother kills her unborn child because it is unwanted, but she's not charged for murder. Is it right? There is about 46 million abortions per year worldwide, and approximately 115,000 per day, but why? Is it because rape or incest, health problems with either the mother or the child, or just because the baby's unwanted or inconvenient at the time? (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.) Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, if you don't want a child you could always put it up for adoption, and most mothers don't understand the consequences that occur from abortion.
Women should have the right to decide whether or not they would like to have an abortion. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines abortion as; “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.” The idea of a woman’s right to have an abortion being taken away is merely incomprehensible.
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
Abortion is a very sensitive subject to most americans, but this topic needs to be addressed. Abortion has become a way for most underage teens to have sex and have no repercussion for their actions. The psychological and physical effects cannot be ignored either because it is still an intensive operation. On the child note, the unborn child being aborted does have the right to live, and taking that right away is like saying that the baby is just a product inside a woman’s body in effect this says that unborn babies do not have the right to live. There are too many risks for sex, incidentally, kids, and adults alike, should not be allowed to have an abortion.
Abortion has been one of the most talked about topics in society just about anywhere from television, magazines, whether or not it should be the right or wrong thing to do. Abortion is a very sensitive issue to discuss, because of its nature. Many people have said that abortion is a very bad thing to do and it should not even be choice whether or not to abort a living fetus. People think that abortion is committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. However, others feel that a woman should have a voice and have the right to choose to keep the child or not and that it is not murder until the baby is born. Majority of individuals who believe that abortion is bad say that the fetus is human who is partly being formed and to have an abortion is considered to be murder. For the people who think an abortion is ok, say that it’s not considered murder unless the child is born. I believe that abortion should be seen in which the stage the fetus is in. if the fetus is in an early stage of pregnancy it is not considered murder, but if the fetus has already began to develop into a larger fetus then it is indeed considered to be murder. There are times when abortion can be accepted, if the mother is having complications due to pregnancy. For example if the mother is enduring complications in her pregnancy that can harm her, because of the child in that case it is ok to perform an abortion to help save the mother’s life. It is also very important to understand this type of situation. The mother has the right to have an abortion and it is her decision because a mother knows best about her health conditions.
