“Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole”-Roger Caras. This means dogs aren't the center of our life, but they make our lives. They could make our lives happy, if we let them. Dogs make our lives whole, so when we get a dog they slowly improve our lives in many ways. Animals can improve our lives by comforting us when we're sad, protecting us, and teaching us valuable lessons every day. My dog Schroeder helped me through the hard times of my life. Schroeder snuggled with me and listened to me when I had a bad day. He would lick my tears away with his ears back, concerned for me. Schroeder comforted me when I was stressed. He snuggled me like a giant, loving teddy bear. Sometimes when you’re having a bad day, that’s just …show more content…

In the movie A Dog’s Purpose directed by Lasse Hallstrom, near the end of Ellie’s life, Ellie performs one final rescue. After saving the drowning child in the water, she jumps in front of her police officer partner like a giant shield, taking the bullet meant for him. Ellie taught the officer to act selfless and look out for his loved ones. Also like Ellie, the animals in the movie Hotel For Dogs directed by Thor Freudenthal taught some kids a lesson. The kids in the movie run a hotel for stray dogs in an otherwise abandoned hotel. Eventually the dog catcher realizes what they’re doing and captures the dogs. The kids make a plan to free the dogs and raise money to keep their hotel running. The dogs taught the kids to never give up. By coming to the hotel, the dogs got the kids in trouble. But in the end, the kids learned from the experience. Without the dogs, the kids would never have learned that valuable lesson. Animals in movies teach us a lot, also other animals impact us in other
Dogs can help children cross the street, lead the blind, alert the deaf, and they do so much more. Many of times, an adult might focus on the problem that doesn’t need requirements. An adult might focus on the problem that a child is socially disabled and by focusing on this problem, they may not even see how this child is trying to cross a busy street or might be trying to talk to someone that they shouldn’t. A service dog prevents the child from going out of sight and many of times can lead a child out of danger or avoid it in the first place.
Dogs have impacted the lives of 44% of American families and homes. People use dogs for much more than just a family friend. Dogs are used for special needs, assisting police, and hunting and tracking. Dogs should be appreciated and never taught to fight or be neglected. Dog fighting is unethical because man’s best friend shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.

Sociologically, a dogs contribution to a human lifestyle draws attention to the understanding that dogs play a prodigious role, especially in the 21st century where they are best known for being companions. Dogs have the ability to shape a person in a particular way, whether it be positive or negative. Dog parks are the central hub for dogs to have a good time, but not only do they have a good time but the owners get a chance to interact with other dogs and their owner's. This concept seems to be quite popular in which quite a few articles have been published on the subject. Dogs play a crucial role in society which gradually enhances their owners lifestyle in several ways.
Service animals can be described in multiple ways. Service canines are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act as, “Any dog that is individually trained to do work, or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability” (Brennen 2). A more specific type of service dog could be a guide dog. They are the same thing, but guide dogs help more with guiding people in the right direction by sight or
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 7.6 million companion pets enter animal shelters across the United States each year, nearly evenly disrupted between dogs and cats . These animals are abandoned for reasons including families no longer being able to care for them (sickness/death of an owner), to families not wanting them (the novelty wearing of the animal wearing off), to the animals being born into puppy mills to finally animals that are loved being lost from their owners. These animals do not understand what is happening to them and rely on the kindness of humans to provide for them in shelters until their forever home can be found.

As one gets older being responsible comes in handy when applying to jobs, when attending school, and when having kids. Owing a dog teaches you to be responsible. For kids its one of their first jobs they get. They are told to pick up poop, take the dog out for walks, feed the dog and play with the dog. They are taking care of another life and if they do not do those tasks then the dog does not live a happy life. It gives kids a longtime commitment and it teaches them how to be consistent. They no longer just think of themselves they start thinking of the dog’s needs and what’s best for their dog. For adults who are thinking of having kids in the future whether it’s being married or single a dog is a good wake up call as to how hard it is taking care of another life yet so rewarding. Taking care of oneself is one thing but being responsible for another life is a life changing experience. Dogs are not cheep they are expensive. Dogs need a lot of things for
Dogs make great companions, can be an assistance dogs and help people with disabilities, and even protect a household. Hearing dogs can be the ears for a person that is hard of hearing, seeing dogs can be the eyes for someone who is legally blind, and service dogs can be an alert system for someone with epilepsy. Although, these dogs are put through a lot of special training for a specific need. More often than not, an assistance dog is adopted but also donated to someone who is handicap. Since a landlord is unable to refuse a house or apartment to someone with an assistance dog, and they are allowed everywhere it is less likely for them to become an inconvenience.

Since animals, especially dogs, share similar emotions as people they to make great companions. Animals do show us how to love better, because their emotions are more pure than a human's. According to Mary Lou Randour, in "What Animals Can Teach Us About Spirituality", animals are spiritual companions to humans. She tells the story of a boy who, after murdering someone, receives a dog to care for as a form of therapy. The dog comforts him, and the teenager learns to love the animal over time. The boy's pet is "healing his soul" by teaching him how to love. Dogs give their masters unconditional love, never questioning the human's orders or disciplines. I thought the story of the dog appearing in the author's backyard as her dead grandfather was rather outlandish. All of Randour's examples of how animals influence our feelings were viable aside from the disappearing ghost dog.
