Cause And Effect Essay: The Real Cause Of Climate Change

2194 Words5 Pages

Climate change has been active since the first days of Earth. Under definition climate change means “a long-term change in the earth's climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature.” (Dictionary). Climate change can be seen making an impact all over the world. There are many theories and beliefs as to why the climate is currently changing, but there is no hard evidence that makes the real cause of climate change clear. There are many possible causes to the changes in climate that we see, but none are known for sure. These possible causes include global warming, such as burning fossil fuels, and even solar related issues such as the position of earth and our sun. We know climate change is occurring because …show more content…

Due to the greenhouse effect, earths orbit may have a large impact on the unusual changes we see happening to earths climate. When the suns energy is absorbed by earth, earth warms, and because of the greenhouse effect the amount of heat that the earths atmosphere can retain is much greater. Variations of the suns energy reaching earth, and changes in the reflectivity of earths atmosphere are also reasons why climate change may be happening. All of these factors have caused climate change many times. “The historical record shows that the climate system varies naturally over a wide range of time scales. In general, climate changes prior to the Industrial Revolution in the 1700s can be explained by natural causes, such as changes in solar energy, volcanic eruptions, and natural changes in greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations.” (Earths Temperature is a Balancing Act) Climate change is influenced by how much solar energy is reaching earth. How much solar energy reaches earth is caused by natural changes such as changes within the sun and changes in earths orbit. The intensity of sunlight can cause major warming or cooling of the earth. Changes in the earths axis or tilt can also cause changes in how the sun helps to heat or cool the earth. Many scientists worry that one day earth may be inhabitable if the greenhouse effect becomes a larger issue. If this is …show more content…

Climate change is wreaking havoc all over our world and although the government claims they are coming up with new plans to help out, we have made no steps in improving the conditions. “The impacts of climate change on health will depend on many factors. These factors include the effectiveness of a community's public health and safety systems to address or prepare for the risk and the behavior, age, gender, and economic status of individuals affected.” (Climate Impacts on Human Health) The major problem is we do not know what precautions to take when it comes to climate change, not many people take it seriously enough, because not enough people understand the risks. Climate change is clear and harmful and has been following us since the earliest days of earth. Before it was a distant threat, but it is now a present-day danger. Americans and others around the world are noticing changes all around them. Hotter, longer summers, heavy downpours of rain, and shorter warmer winters, are becoming normal to us. Whether it occurs naturally or whether it is caused because of global warming, it still needs to be
