Climate change is temperature increasing over a long period of time. Climate is imoortant to both humans and ecosyestems in order to thrive. One slight change can disrupt an entire ecosystem. Most people recognize that greenhouse gasses such carbon dioxide have been contributing to climate change. Greenhouse gases are part of earth’s many natural processes. Greenhouse gasses are important to keeping the earth at an overall warm temperature. When When sunlight shines down to Earth, it warms the surface but after so much warming, some of the heat goes right back out into the atmosphere. Some of the heat hits the greenhouse gases. Mangroves only grow near the equator with low-oxygen soil that lays down peat which is heavy layers of carbon rich soil. The forest stabilizes the coastline and reduces erosion. It also serves as an ecosystem with organisms that seek food and shelter. Mangroves are very important especially because it is one of the most carbon-rich habitat in the world. Mangrove forests have have doubled the living biomass of tropical forests. Mangrove forests differ from other peat forests worldwide because the saline soils prevent methane production that is another an greenhouse gas. Mangrove forests take con from the atmosphere and stores it in the Mangrove’s rich soil. It is time to invest in prevent mangrove loss as it will help mitigate dangerous effects of global climate change. An issue is that mangroves forests are completely widespread as they cannot live in freezing temperatures. These forests have the ability to settle quickly, grow fast, thrive and give fruit in the toughest place to live. As amazing as they are mangroves have been negatively affected by human development. They have been drained and cleared out to make room for human needs when we will need these forests to help survive as the earth continues to get warmer. The Mayans were a powerful civilization in the past, but collapsed and abandoned it’s own cities. Theories were made to try to figure out what happened to the Mayans and one theory might just predict what will happen to our societies if the earth’s temperature continues to increase. Thin tropical soils lacked fertility to grow crops which caused famine, disease, and war in the basic drought cycle of the Mayans. This theory can be explained by both environmental and cultural factors of the Mayan society. As scientists explore global climate change that is happening now more evidence is explored in climatic, historical, hydrologic, tree ring, volcanic, and geologic factors. Lack of food and water could have caused extreme furstation in their society which would causes revolts and leave them vuknerable to forgein invasions. Throughout history droughts have caused seceral powerful civilavations to fall and crumble. Cimate changes are causing droughts around the world and like the drought theory of the Mayan, everything is happening quickly. The Mayan empire was doing well until they started burning down trees. The reason why they fell was not because of other empires, but technically on themselves. Climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere due to a buildup of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases can occur naturally as well as a result of human activities. The greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. “Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere when solid waste, fossil fuels, and wood are burned.” (2) The gases help to warm the surface of the Earth.
