Do We Really Have Freedom? Have you ever thought about the freedoms and rights that we have? We do not realize it but we have many places were we can have and earn freedom. In contrast, there are many white spaces that we do not have freedom. When you ponder about the situation, you will suddenly realize that we are not as free as the government, community, and household make it out to be. A wise civil rights activist, Coretta Scott King, once said “Freedom is never really earned, you earn it and win it in every generation.” Mrs. King is exactly right. The only reason we obtain the freedoms we have are because we have fought for them in every generation. Just like when we lose our tiny privileges that make our life run. Such as the confiscation of our cell phones. Parents also will also ground, which means taking and restricting many things from us. Is this freedom? I would have to detest to the fact that it is not freedom. Our younger generation should be punished for the things we do incorrectly but should not have belongings snatched from our possession. I feel outside the house and with our parents we should be able to do whatever we want as long as it isn't going against our set community rules and laws. For instance, choosing our own friends and choosing the things we like, etc. Parents should let us have the freedom of making our own decisions. There are numerous things that people cold brainstorm on at attest to the fact that we should and should not have freedom in that area. Our country alone has come so far. For example, just look at slavery and voting rights. At one time in U.S history, women did not obtain voting rights. Slavery, we no longer have slavery in the U.S but human trafficking is on an uprise. Slavery is taking away our rights to be free. While not allowing women to vote is taking away their right to choose what they think is appropriate for their country. One thing that bothers me so much is the discrimination of how people look.
