I’m writing this letter to my future self for Ms. Meyer’s English class and to be placed in the Freshman Time Capsule to open when I’m a senior. To begin with some of my hopes for the rest of my life includes graduating while being in National Honor Society, getting a scholarship to either SDSU, USD or Augustana college, also lastly would become a Physical Therapist in Sports Medicine. Some of my dreams would consist of making it to All-State for choir or being a part of Royal Court my junior year of high school, in addition to my last dream would be making it to Daisy Nationals and furthermore placing anywhere from last to first as well as still be proud of myself for making it up to now. My fears are all dark and brooding and also consist …show more content…
I hope to have a job in Sports Medicine as a Physical Therapist, as well as to go to college in South Dakota. I would like to own a blue Kia Soul and have an old beaten up truck from the 1980s. My house will be two stories with an stunning view of the sunset, will have lots of windows, my house will be five bedrooms, three bathrooms, with a fireplace along with a 35 inch flat screen TV, my house will have blue, white, and gray walls with gray carpet along with white tile. I am looking forward to having my own family to love as well as care for, having a good paying job, while seeing the sunset from anywhere in my house. Some things I’m dreading is the fact that I might not get a good paying job, I won’t get my dream house, also I won’t get married and have kids. Fears for the world are that my life will not go how I wish for and I will live on the streets, I won’t make it into any of my colleges I want to go to, I will end up living alone, also I won’t have enough money to provide for myself. Some Hopes are that I will get an education in Sport Medicine as a Physical Therapist, I will be married, have beautiful children, graduate high school along with college, live in either Washington, or somewhere west river in South Dakota. My summer vacation would be traveling to Greece, Italy, Mediterranean Islands, France, Germany, Poland, Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain in addition to learning all the different culture as well as history like the Holocaust, and Greek
I’m quite curious as to what my life will be like in five years. Will I be on the beach with my hot boyfriend? Will I be sleeping all day in my California King? Or will I just be some lame college student doing homework on a saturday night? Who knows which one will be me, but I’m sure it’s neither of the first two. Looking forward, I hope to at least have a plan. I might not be out on the beach or be getting a full night’s sleep, but I hope that I’m at least happy.
During the interview, the Physical Therapist I conferred with was very thorough and straightforward in his responses to the questions that were given. I decided to interview another one of my mother’s fellow co-workers, Mr. Stephen Chan, considering his new experiences in the Physical Therapy field. I met with Mr. Stephen Chan at the Kaiser Permanente Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic that is located in Union City. The essential subject matters that we discussed consisted of his Major and Minor in college, the Residency Program that he takes part in, variations of attitudes, and advantages in the workforce.
Now that you have a better understanding about Athletic training, I will explain about physical therapy and why I would like have as a lifetime career. In an article I read, the author Sue Klappa said that, “PT’s reach into our communities through engagement and social responsibility. It compels us to bring hope and love to others. It urges us to learn to see things differently. It holds the promise of defining moments, as we take the time to see things in a new light” (Klappa 2). Klappa is a physical therapist that traveled the world to help others and when she went to different countries. She learned how important physical therapist are in the medical field and how she can get others attention. Starting a career path in physical therapy can
Life is a journey paved with colorful experiences. Mine have lead me on a path to helping others. Continuing my education in a subject that I find fascinating has brought me incredible fulfilment. My goal is to complete The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program.
Entering my first year of college I didn’t have any idea of what I wanted to do. I still didn’t choose a major let alone a career. I was stuck in between wanting to make enough money that my family would be taken care of financially and choosing a career that I wouldn’t mind going in to work every day. The one thing that I was certain of was that I wanted to be able to help people in whatever I chose to do. After careful consideration and exploring the options available to me, I have come to the conclusion that I want to have a career in physical therapy. Physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury or deformity through physical methods rather than through drugs or surgery.
Later in life when I have a job of my own I hope to become like my grandfather and get a job and make it my life. Also I hope that once I find my goal that nothing will stop like the miners in Crown of Dust.
My interest in physical therapy was by a complete coincidence when researching numerous types of physical therapy facilities for my brother, who needed PT after an accident that involved his leg. Up to that moment, I had no direction in life and did not know what career to pursue. This was evident in my grades, but also in my occupations after I dropped out of school, resulting into one dead-end job after another. I was instilled early in life that no matter what type of work I was in, I need to be a professional and give it my best. “Never give anyone a reason to talk bad about you and your work, so you must be sure that your quality of work is impeccable,” was what my Father would tell as I entered the work force. In following my fathers’ advice, I would be hired and within
Physical therapy has recently become one of the most sought out professions, which is why it is now even that much harder to become one. A physical therapist is one who will provide treatment for one to maintain or restore maximum movement; while it is a fascinating profession this research essay will not focus on the actual profession. Physical Therapy is obviously associated with injuries, but let’s discuss the schooling behind the profession, how long do you assist a seasoned Physical Therapist, and what is the salary for a physical therapist.
My journey to pursue an education in physical therapy actually originates from my early childhood. I endured a very impoverished upbringing and my family’s socioeconomic status was below the poverty line. At a very young age, money became the central issue of my life. I found myself worrying about mortgages, health bills, and grocery money. As I grew older, I vowed to myself that I would not endure my family’s financial burdens into my adulthood. I knew the best way to accomplish this was by obtaining a college degree and having a professional career. However, I was unsure what career I wanted to pursue. I experimented with many different career ideas, but during my sophomore, I discovered my passion and skill for physical medicine. For my
Throughout my life, I have always loved physical fitness and athletics. Unfortunately, due to a horrible knee injury at the end of my senior year of high school’s basketball season, my athletic lifestyle came to a screeching halt. Ever since I have gone through physical therapy and gotten back on my feet, I have had the desire to pursue a career in the field of health and fitness and my goal is to become a personal fitness trainer so I may help others reach their fitness goals and teach ways to be active safely and help prevent major injuries. I have always had a love and passion for health and fitness. I have become more sensitive to the importance of exercise and the related issues of nutrition and fitness for the avoidance of injury to the human body. Especially now that I
The profession I will be going over is going to be Physical therapy. I will give you an overview of the job and that will consist of what they do, how much they get paid, and different types of conditions and symptoms.
Everyone has dreams, but where I’m from, the idea of it is bigger. I grew up in a peaceful region. I live in the southernmost part of the U.S. in a small community called Harlingen, Texas. Growing up, it seemed as if there were no problems in the world until I grew up and found out different. Living in Harlingen has given me great opportunities, but I seek more to accomplish my goals in life. My dreams aren’t just hopes, I am destined to make them a reality. Nothing for me shall be impossible. Living in Harlingen has identified who I am today; being an outgoing individual ready for the future, so I look forward to seeking more knowledge, trying new things, and expanding my horizons wherever I am destined to be in life.
Physical therapy is a fun and exciting healthcare profession that helps people. It is all about helping other people who have problems with their body, muscles, joints and other parts of their body. Patients includes accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as low back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, and cerebral palsy. Physical therapy will perform an evaluation of your problem or difficulty. They evaluate your problem by performing tests and measures to assess the problem. These tests includes muscle strength, joint motion, sensory and neurological, coordination, balance, observation, palpation, flexibility, postural screening, movement analysis, and special tests are designed for a particular problem. Next, they develop a treatment plan and goals and then manage the appropriate treatment to aid in recovery of a problem or dysfunction. Physical therapists are able to treat their patients by using many different treatments depending on the type of injury. Some of the treatments are electrical stimulation, hot and cold packs, infrared and ultrasound to reduce swelling or relieve pain. These treatments are used to help decrease pain and increase movement and function. Therapeutic exercises instructions will help restore strength, movement, balance, or skill as a guide towards full functional recovery. Physical therapy provides "hands on techniques" like massage or joint mobilizations skills to restore joint motion or increase soft tissue flexibility. They will focus on basic skills such as getting out of bed, walking safely with crutches or a walker, moving specific joints and muscles of the body. Physical therapists treatment includes patient education to teach them how to deal with a current problem and how to prevent the problem in the future. Such documentation is used to track the patient's progress, and identify areas requiring more or less attention. They encourage patients to use their own muscles. Their main goal is to improve how an individual functions at work and home.
I will face many more personal struggles and obstacles as I try to accomplish more. The fear of failure that has always permeated my every thought, the idea that I have placed in my mind since young; the futility of life, the fear that no matter what I do it will have no meaning. My fear is a prison that binds me with chains of futility, and the more I struggle the more rigid the chains become. But I believe that if I set a plan to work towards these wishes, and if I succeed in making this plan effective, then it will start a domino effect on my mentality. I will be showing myself that I can vanquish this beast imprisoning me in my own mind, this beast known as anxiety; then I will be able to move confidently towards a future that I wish for. So my plan for the present will be to work on being an excellentist instead of a perfectionist, fixing my poor time management skills, and mending my poor habits. To do this I will try and log how I spend my time and plan accordingly, try different kinds of anxiety and stress relief, such as meditation and exercise, and cut back on the hobbies that I find
My hopes for the future are to be humble, don’t take anything for granted, to be wealthy, to have kids, and to have a wife. I want to have a good education like getting a full scholarship for football and maybe go to the NFL.I want to go to to NFL so I can help my family with anything they need to pay off or even anything they want and also because it’s my dream to help other people in need. Like I said a big accomplishment for me would be a full scholarship for football or go to the NFL.I hope to have my dad’s high school jersey and a jersey signed by Cam Newton because he is my favorite NFL player. I hope to have a family of my own with a big house for my kids to live in and a black lab as a pet also a big truck. I hope to live in the mountains
