Dear School Administrators, High school is a life changing experience; it is the place where you start making yourself. The place where you discover who you are and who you are going to be, it is truly a very bumpy ride but it will teach you things that will last a lifetime. As human beings we all make mistakes, and being a teenager means that the mistakes are always there, but just like what my dad told me, "The mistake is not very important, it is the lesson that is." I personally have done mistakes throughout my high school years that I am not proud of. Plagiarism, a term that I have never encountered before, a plagairisim incident happened shortly after I moved to The United Stated. My complete ignorance of the proper ways of researching …show more content…
But, the funny thing is that no matter how hard you work, you could mislay in the matter of minutes, even seconds. Engaging in a fight after a heated argument with one of my classmate was extremely inappropriate, immature and lacks the respect for my teacher and my other classmates. Although I wasn't the one who started it, I should have let the school take the proper actions. I am not the kind of person who has ever been involved in a fight. After the fight I started thinking about all that hard work that I knew was going to waste. Of course, I faced the consequences which included me getting suspended and miss a soccer game I have been waiting for a while. I couldn't stop thinking about my actions and about the way I will be remembered. I personally apologized to all my teachers involved, I did it, not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I was ashamed of my stupid actions and I know for a fact that I need to be a mature person and know that fighting is never the answer. I met with the student whom I had the fight with and we both decided to put it all behind our backs. I accepted the schools advice to visit the schools councilor and spent time with her reflecting on the incidents and the lessons I learned from
Making the transition from middle school to high school is a huge stepping stone in a teenager’s life. High school represents both the ending of a childhood and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a rite of passage and often many teens have the wrong impression when beginning this passage. Most began high school with learning the last thing on their mind. They come in looking for a story like adventure and have a false sense of reality created through fabricated movie plots acted out by fictional characters. In all actuality high school is nothing like you see in movies, television shows, or what you read about in magazines.
There is many times that kids will yell at the teacher or that will fight with a kid over and over. There is consequences with the attitude that you have for that day. The office or In School Suspension (ISS) will solve it . The study will still be with you when you go home and if you got in trouble because of your attitude.
This particular class period consisted of around 3 students, but one student was working particularly just by himself with his teachers aid. Even before it started Ms.Metcalf classroom energy felt a bit off, and come to find out that during lunch one of the students had been teasing the other student. The student that had also been causing trouble had out of nowhere stolen paper clips off of Ms.Metcalf. The other student was not able to stay on task, because he still felt upset from the incident that occurred during lunch. This soon became more of a discipline class rather than the student learning about math, and apparently the "bully" had created pointer with the paper clips that could have actually hurt someone. Soon after Ms. Metcalf had to call the assistant principles to step in to discipline the student, and lost a entire day of instructions due to one student misbehavior. After the misbehaving student had left she went over to the emotional distraught student and began discussing that he should never let people 's words if they weren 't nice and that entire lesson became a lesson on
I didn’t know what to expect of high school as I sauntered in the doors as an incoming high school freshman. In my first couple of weeks of school, I learned that it was basically like middle school, just a little stricter with different teachers and a different locker. I asked myself “how bad could it be?” Turns out,
My passion for school counseling began almost two years ago. While attending Widener University for my undergraduate career, I was place in a field placement at Widener Partnership Charter School during my fall semester of junior year. While there I was one of six who were implementing the EarthForce Curriculum to sixth grade students. Since there were six undergraduate students designated to this class of about twenty, our professor decided to split the class up and we would each have our own individual groups to work with. I was so thrilled and excited to have my own miniature class, however my professor had something else in mind for me. My mentor came to me asking if I minded working one-on-one with a student who had multiple behavioral issues and could not participate in
After I received my lecture I was given a week's worth of detention. from that point on I've been learning how to control my temper, but ever scene that day, I've changed in someway because everyone has been seeing me as a
High school is meant to be the time of your life, but for most seniors just like me it can be some of the most emotional and crazy time. The things in my past make me who I am today, and the things I do now are the first footsteps into the future. I’ve learned a lot about myself in these past four years, and I still have so much learning to do. This is my high school story; the good, bad, and the ugly.
(I would be happy to share the other student's name with you since it is extremely relevant to the situation.) I have never seen this student hit him or any other student. I told Yann that he needs to stop asking that student for stuff, because it has become a common thing where they're asking this student for gum, paper, and pencils. This student does not speak and is not able to verbalize her consent. I have told the students in my class that this needs to stop. I also told him to just avoid her, don't talk to her, don't ask for her stuff, and to just stay away from her. Near the end of first block, as Ms. G and I were helping individual students with their projects, the female student stood up and began hitting and kicking Yann. Ms. G and I quickly reacted and the female student returned to her desk and put her head down and began to loudly cry. Yann then began to continue yelling about the situation, and say that we were not handling the situation. At this point the female student got up and ran out of the classroom. Ms. G left with the female
This brony of colorful proportions, was portly in stature. A sloth to be sure, he referred to his long greasy hair as "his mane." His mane, as he referred to it was rainbow in color; the grease shining in the light of day. He was a man-child of all sorts, unable to manage himself, and always reliant on his partner, who never left his side. The Brony never worked a day in his life, and still Resided in the basement of his mother. He kept a book filled with sinful pictures and ponies. Never, Was there a human more slimy and slick with sweat. As we walked along the path to Canterbury he exclaimed, “I have tale for you all,” as he rudely interrupted the missionary’s tale, “It is my turn now.”
My high school experience has been a very challenging and exciting 4 years. I have learned many things that will help me in life and I feel confident that I am ready for whatever obstacle I may face. High school has defined, shaped my character, and helped me to mature into the young woman that I am
Later in the school year, more popular people found out that one of the teens back-stabbed some other popular people, and the issue got so bad one just left for “no reason” (they became socially exiled) and nobody truly knows what happened to the other. People should not try to please everyone, and ignore their own feelings (I think every teen goes through this experience
You can learn a lot about yourself in high school, from how you use your time in school to the after school activities you do. What you do, from a freshman to a senior, will determine what you want and can do for future careers. High school will challenge you in many ways, from organizational skills to time management skills. All the life lessons from high school can really tie into one category, time management.
As I take this journey in life I have so many supporters around me that has inspired me to live up to my dreams and within my dreams make sure that its beneficial to others as well. My heart is within working with children in the areas of career development, personal or social realm, and academic success. I decided to pursue this journey to be able to watch students grow and become a reliable leader in life. I dedicate myself to making a difference in student lives. I understand counseling may be very stressful and a low rewarding job.
Throughout the school year, students will fight and argue and a four part apology will be implemented. Instead of forgetting the situation, a four part apology will be implemented in my classroom. This will allow students to deal with the situation and take ownership of their mistakes. Immediately after the situation, talk to the students and tell them they are not in trouble. Then have student Acknowledge: “I know I.” After Acknowledging the problem Apologize: “I apologize because…” Then students will Make the situation right: “What can I do to make it right”. Finally students will Recommit: I recommit to…” The four part apologize allows students to go through their issues in a manner that is successful for students and students will not bury their
Time flies so fast. Looking back, my high school is just like a movie, a lot of things happened. High School is four years of growing up and probably a time in your life where you go through the most changes. In high school you are able to discover yourself and find out who you are as a person. Each year is special and unique in their own way. My journey through high school was a tough one, especially because I decided to not only focus on academic work but also to invest quality time in extra curriculum activities. I wanted more than just academic excellence; I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to add value to every aspect of my life, I wanted a rounded education and not just mere schooling. My success story is what I will like to share with you; how I really made it and how this defines my personality. My journey in High School was scary, exciting, and successful.
