For my science career I chose a meteorologist. I have always found it interesting to watch the weather section of the news; it is usually the only part of the news I watch. I have also been interested in the job of news anchors. This choice was perfect as while because a family friends of mine is a meteorologist for Kare 11. A meteorologist is scientist who studies the atmosphere and with that knowledge they predict weather, examine trends of the atmosphere, and looks at effects on the environment. Its name comes from the Greek word meteoron, which means something that happens high in the sky. They go beyond predicating the weather, but analyzing how the weather impacts the environment are the daily lives of humans. The first set of …show more content…
Some are just news anchor who are told the weather, but some went to school and figure out the weather on there own; the one I interview was educated in metrology and did it on his own. In order to be actual meteorologist a four year bachelor of science in meteorology or atmospheric sciences and some research, teaching, or management positions require a masters of science degree or Ph. D. This education can typically cost around $20,00 to $80,000. This job can get an average salary of $90,000. The person I intervened had a degree in meteorology and a minor in Spanish. Although that is all that is required some get degrees in journalism as well for the TV aspect of the …show more content…
It all depends on the weather. If there is thunderstorm or tornado there is bigger need to check on the weather and report updated. On a typically day without server weather conditions depending on the segment you do you will come in around 4:00 A.M if your doing the morning segment. If you do the weekend weather they will go in on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, or if the person does night weather they go in mid afternoon and are finished late ate night. For example my person does the morning weather, so the go in at 4:00 A.M in the morning and are finished around 7:00 A.M. During the time period of 4:30 A.M to 7:00 A.M the show starts and there is non- stop TV going on. The meteorologist checks in every five minutes. Before they forecast they look at computer models, dater, and current observations. That aspect is unique depending on weather of the day. In contrast a day of server weather for example thunderstorm then there is constant process of updating things. Over all most of the person day is condensed into two to four work days of being really busy instead of an eight hour work day were that person is not constantly busy the whole
Despite being a popular meteorologist and news reporter, Kent Ehrhardt does not have a Wikipedia page. But his information can be found in multiple Wiki sites and online sources. Kent Ehrhardt is a board Member of the National Weather Association. In 1995, he was named "Member of the Year" by the association. The American Lung Association of Eastern Missouri (ALAEM) named him "Official Meteorologist" for assessing the quality of air in Missouri area.
Throughout the entire hurricane season, meteorologists keep a close watch on the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. They examine pictures of the area taken by satellites, and also take information on air pressure, wind speed, and temperatures. One of their most important jobs is to gather information on where the storm will hit, and how powerful it will be.
Measurement approach- taking a range of temperatures over time, reading and observing the situation, also to assess the situation by getting expect advice and suggestions. Taking the maximum and minimum weather conditions implementing a plan based on this information. Triggering an evacuation alarm.
Satellite imagery is one of the helpful tools meteorologists use to provide information on hurricanes. They give accurate photos every 30 minutes as images from the satellite are taken about 22,000 miles above the equator. Satellites capture images of visible clouds and air circulation patterns that help to track, observe...
Meteorology includes the study of the weather and climate. Meteorologists are in particularly interested in studying the development of thunderstorms and tornadoes. The research and observation of storms began as a hobby for Howard B. Bluestein. Bluestein’s interest in meteorology began with cloud photography. After receiving a degree in Electrical Engineering he went on to graduate school to major in Meteorology. In his book, Monster Storms of the Great Plains, Bluestein relates his experiences with chasing storms and researching tornadoes. He also provides the history of the technology used to research and gather data on storms.
Now, she is a nineteenth years old sophomore student and major in advertising at OU. The reason why she would like to study in the University of Oklahoma is because of the meteorology. As everyone knows, meteorology is one of the outstanding major in OU.
I would like to be a Forensic Science Technician, simply because I find this kind of stuff interesting. A Forensic Science Technician does many things. Four things they do are run ballistics tests on guns to find the one used in a bank robbery; collect evidence from a crime scene to help understand the chain of events; match DNA samples to reunite a long lost child to his/her family; and solve a crime by matching fingerprints at the crime scene to a suspect. One of the top reasons I would join this career is because I want to be able to solve a crime if someone needs help. The second top reason I would join this career is because I watched CSI all the time before I got too busy with school, but I still watch it when I can. I think I would like this job because I always found it interesting to watch CSI and figure out how they solved the case. I also like to guess on who done what and why did they do it.
A college or university degree is required to work in this field. The data they collect are broadcasted, usually on television, or at our fingertips through our cell phones as it is updated constantly. Meteorologists are relied on in every city and country to warn people of upcoming weather. This field will be around in the future as weather is occurring around the world, even as technology advances with in through our cell phones. I am currently undecided on the major that I will study in college, but this is one of my many options. This career is significant in our lives, and sometimes overlooked, but this job can save thousands of lives by preparing people for approaching, potentially severe,
What is meteorology? Meteorology is the study of the weather and the processes of phenomena of the atmosphere. This means it is the study of the weather,5 day forecast, etc… This are the things you see on the weather channel. A meteorologist tells you and explains would could happen. Most people do not realize how important these people are to the world they tell us what could happen and warn you in the future. Therefore, people in the world should pay more attention to them and realize what a good job they do because i know i will.
Throughout my life my main goal was to become a baseball player and I have been working towards it since I was little. Becoming a forensic scientist has become a recent goal for me. I enjoy watching C.S.I shows and think that the profession is very amazing. Although I love the idea for working for the C.S.I, I don't want to go after people and risk being hurt so I think working in labs or just checkig out crime scenes is perfect. Whatever I become later in my life, I know I will be making an impact and helping out the
Many different types of workers are constantly connected to work. They work even when they are away from their jobs, often at nights, on weekends and on vacations,
My passion for the fascinating wolrd of science literally can not be put into words. Since receiving my first home science kit at five years of age the way things work and why has always been at the forefront of my mind. During my early years I would find great delight in examining anything I could fit under the lens of my telescope. I will never forget my first look at the intricate detail of a human hair.
Reduces Stress: Many are stressed as a result of too much to do in very little time and become so overwhelmed mentally to the point of even becoming physically ill but with good time management skill, you know what to do and how long to do it for. Optional tasks not completed same day can be moved next day task list.
The weather forecasters use probability and statistics just as much if not more than any other field on earth. As weather patterns are not fully understood and are dynamic, analysts have to rely heavily on past weather systems and patterns to “guess'; or estimate the possibility of present weather systems to behave in similar manners. If the probability of its behavior, subject to certain factors, in one manner over another is high forecasters make decisions as to how to advise the public.
Four NOMAD buoys across the North Atlantic registered a 13-degree drop in SST. And soon a series of extreme weather happened in front of my eyes: hurricanes, snow storms, and even cyclones that rapidly pulled cool air from the upper troposphere which made people freeze instantly. Those were the scenes I saw from The Day after Tomorrow, the film that inspired my curiosity in atmospheric sciences in my seventh grade. Although shocked by the catastrophe caused by global warming in the film, I couldn't help take an eager interest in how freshwater from melted polar ice caps brought a shift in the North Atlantic Current, and how the shifted current brought a change in the earth’s climate. Later, as I gathered more information about the climate, I became fascinated by the physical and dynamical mechanisms explaining atmospheric phenomenon. And after three years of undergraduate study of atmospheric sciences, beyond the starting point of fascination, I have taken concrete steps forward with my hard work, independence, and creativity.
