When I was in middle school, I enjoyed playing basketball. In fact, I loved it. I used to wake up early in the morning and go to school with a basketball in my hand. I was always excited walking from the school entrance straight to the basketball court to meet up with friends. My friends and I always play basketball together early in the morning, during lunch and sometimes even after school. I even had a basketball hoop set up in the backyard at my old house. I do not know what inspired me to fallen in love with this sport, but I never really care much about that. There are just so many different skills, plays and techniques in basketball. I still always love this sport even if I do not play it physically anymore. In other words, I put my passion
I have been playing high school basketball as a Lady Hornet since my freshman year, and I firmly believe that I have given tremendous effort into being the most valuable player that I can be. Ever since I was a child, I have had an immense passion for the game of basketball. My mother played collegiate basketball at William Carey University, so all throughout my childhood, she was my main inspiration to play. I will be forever indebted to her for pushing me to play the fantastic sport of basketball because I have no idea who I would be without it. While playing this sport for almost thirteen years, I have learned many valuable lessons along the way that have influenced the way I live out my life.
Basketball is a big part of my life, one year ago in tournament final game two of our best players were hurt and the team was relying on me. With the time winding down on the clock we were down 8 points. Somehow I got our deficit down to two points with 30 seconds left, after an intense defensive stop 10 seconds remained on the clock; our coach called a timeout. A play was drawn up for me to take the shot. Mitchell inbounded the ball to me as I came off of a screen, I had an some-what wide open shot, I took the shot, you could hear the crowd go silent as the ball left my hand and headed towards the basketball. It felt like everything was going slow motion, the ball was getting closer and closer to the hoop and I…….missed it. The buzzer sounded
It runs through my veins and I cannot live without it. For a long time I did not know who I was but one day, through a basketball camp, a coach helped me realize what my identity was. He helped me figure out that i am a child of God. All my uncles played basketball along with both of my Grandfathers. For a long time I thought that basketball had to be the only thing to define me but, it does not.
Greek film director Theo Angelopoulos began his career with an interest in leftist politics and a determination to reveal what he believed to be the truth. As a result, his earliest films were opinionated and patriotic. Still, due to historical changes in the region and personal growth, Angelopoulos explains that, throughout his life, he came to trust political figures less and less. Becoming more and more conflicted about right and wrong, finding that power corrupts, and discovering the true complexity of human nature led sense of confusion in the films he produced during the early nineteen eighties. Ultimately, Angelopoulos explains, he lost all hope in his previously held humanistic point of view. This sentiment is certainly reflected in his later films on personal, social, and universal levels. In Ulysses’ Gaze, A, a director much like himself, is the embodiment of this bitterness. We follow him Homeric voyage beginning at his birthplace near the Albanian border and ending in war-torn Sarajevo. This film, in addition, presents all of the people who lost hope in the leftist politics that once held promise of uniting the European people and promoting equality. Furthermore, elements of Ulysses’ Gaze imply that this process of disillusion is experienced by all of humanity in one way or another, especially as we face the end of a century and recognize that we have not achieved our anticipated progress.
I have been on the court since I was seven years old. Basketball has been a driving force in my life. The spirit of the game, comradery of a team, and the perfection of a swish is a part of who I am. My first community based coach ‘s name was John Cochrane in a small township, Warminster, a suburb of Philadelphia . Through the fifteen or so games we played in rec, John modeled great technique, that everyone should play equally, and that team is stronger that its parts. I learned that skill development took a lot of work and that sometimes you just had to laugh! As my basketball career became more serious and a more competitive journey, I had the immense pleasure of meeting and working with a personal trainer name, Chris Harper. He partnered
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
I didn’t always consider basketball my preferred sport. When I was in fourth grade, my mom took me to the park one day, and I saw kids practicing drills for soccer, throwing the ball up in the air and trapping it to be more precise. I thought that was really cool, and my mom took notice, so she went to the coach and asked what I would have to do to join. Before I knew it, I found myself going to the park three times a week after school to play soccer - I worked hard through the drills, played with passion in scrimmages, and eventually I started to go to tournaments on Saturdays. For four years, the only sport I had eyes for was soccer: when my friends went out to play basketball or football or baseball, I still always brought my soccer ball in the hopes we would play in the end (which we often did, after much begging from me and my other friends).
August 22, 2016 was the day my basketball career sadly came to an end. Ever since middle school, basketball has always been my one true passion. I loved basketball with all my heart and aspired to compete against the best one day. However, regardless of my strong ambition, I’ve learned that things aren’t always meant to go your way. Throughout my basketball career, I suffered from a great deal of emotional and physical strain. I was constantly injuring myself to a point where my body could no longer utilize its full athletic capabilities. Yet, I never let the reoccurring pain discourage me from performing on the basketball court. Nevertheless, what truly wrenched the most was the fact that no one supported me. Both my family, friends, teammates,
A lot of people have that certain sport that is there favorite either its cause they played the sport or overall they like watching it. Here are the reasons why basketball has been my favorite sport since I was about 5 years old. I always enjoyed watching the sport of basketball growing up watching Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, T-MAC, and Vince Crater the list can go on all day. I always paid close attention to what all the players where doing cause I was all ball player more than anything I watch how they dribbled the ball cross people over and even imitate there shots down to the way there fingers where after their shot.
If I were confined for a year i would do a variety of things. The things that I would doing are practicing basketball, Learning to speak another language, and learning how to weld. I think it would be fun learning how to do all that fun activity stuff. The reason i choose that stuff to do is because I love playing basketball i would also love to speak a different language and welding is something i want to do whenever I get older.
Have you ever had a friend that asked for advice. I currently have. My friend Bob played basketball and it was his favorite sport so one day he decide to ask me on advice about basketball. So I told him to love the game, Always practice and Play as hard as you can.
I am twenty years old and basketball is my favorite sport. In my childhood I never liked sports until my mother signed me up for a basketball team. I knew a little bit about basketball but I didn’t know all of the rules. As I started to play for the team, I learned a lot about the sport. At first I was a bench player, but then I got better I worked my way up to a starter position. I learned a lot about teamwork and communication.
Basketball is and always will be my love. The passion I have for this sport is unimaginable. This is the sport that cheers me up when I am distressed or upset. Playing the sport has provided me with my getaway from the worries of life that people need to stay sane throughout the struggles in their journey to success. Every time I pick up a basketball, I instantly enter a whole new world. All the worries, no matter how serious, would just disappear. It would be the thing I would always love to do no matter what the situation, I would go play basketball. I was out there whether it was snowing, raining, heck I even remember being on my local basketball court right before Hurricane Sandy.
Basketball is one of the interesting sports I have always wanted to engage myself; even as a little child. It was a dream come true when I started playing basketball in my high school. Moreover, I was very good in it, and I became the team leader. Of course, I enjoyed every bite of the time I spent playing basketball.
Some of the reasons I love basketball are because it is challenging, helps me improve myself as a person, and teaches me a lot about life. In this sport, I have learned how to mentally prepare myself for hardships. When I am in a game and down two points with only a few seconds left on the clock, I know exactly which play to run. I also know how to use what energy I have left in my body and mental...
