I am twenty years old and basketball is my favorite sport. In my childhood I never liked sports until my mother signed me up for a basketball team. I knew a little bit about basketball but I didn’t know all of the rules. As I started to play for the team, I learned a lot about the sport. At first I was a bench player, but then I got better I worked my way up to a starter position. I learned a lot about teamwork and communication.
I love basketball because it is fun to watch and play the intensity of the game especially when it is good teams or players battling against each other basketball is a game no one can perfect; there is always a way to expand your game such as your dribbling skills, shooting, passing, or court vision. You can
watch old game film from good players like Michael Jordan to learn different moves to lose a defender for a shot or in the case of defense, how to lock a player down to stop them from going to the basket and scoring. I also love watching too because when someone like LeBron James and Kevin Durant battle against each other it is always a good game because they are the best small forwards in the league today. Kevin Durant is tall with a long wingspan which makes it harder to guard him. LeBron James is tall and weighs in at 250 pounds; he can play all positions due to his height and weight. The reason I love basketball is because there are many positions one player can play in order to win the game such as a passer, play maker, shooter, defensive player, or a dunker. My favorite player is Derrick Rose. One reason he is my favorite player is because he is from my hometown of Chicago and he plays for my favorite team the Chicago Bulls. He can carry a team far in the game of basketball due to his many skills. He is one of the best point guards in the league. He even won a most valuable player award in 2011. I learned a lot from Derrick Rose by watching the way he plays; it really helps me improve on my own game and my teamwork. As you can see, basketball is my favorite sport. I love it and can play it; it has taught me how to do many things better in life. It is also a great sport many other people love and watch.
I play basketball, not only because it gives me a source of exercise, but it also allows me to be engaged in a competitive atmosphere again. To play basketball, you start knowing little and learn from your coach a lot more. It is important to learn how the game works from the different techniques of the game to the rules, goals, and communication that come with the game of basketball.
Basketball is a great sport for people that like to run because basketball involves running up and down the court.. Some people like basketball because they like the idea of the sport or the competition. Most people have something specific that they like about basketball. Sports are often identified to have positive influences on many individuals. The sports industry is growing worldwide, especially the basketball industry, which is regarded in second place behind football. The global prevalence of basketball is unquestionable, especially among the young. Basketball is a dynamic team sport that involves a pattern of alternating, active, and skilled movement activities. There are compound demands that require a mixture of individual skills, team plays, strategies, and motivational aspects.
When you look at a basketball what do you see? Most would see an orange, sphere, shaped rubber ball. There are black lines and real leather. If you look closer, you would even see the size of the ball in which you are playing with. A basketball could be just a toy for many, or even represent a release for others, but for me, it means a lot more. A basketball represents my blood, sweat, tears, passion, sacrifice, and most of all, a sense of belonging, like a family. At this moment in my life, there are only three things I devote my life to- family, friends, and basketball. Basketball has shaped my life probably more than anything else. Basketball has instilled in me a vicious will to achieve and embrace my ambitions instead of fearing them. Basketball gave me an open opportunity to try something new. New opportunities and experiences are not such a big deal anymore. From academics to personal matters, the lessons that I have learned from basketball has impacted my life.
Being part of the basketball clique in high school helped me learn the intrapersonal and social communication skills I use today. As a child playing basketball was my favorite activity or hobby. It's also the way I met a lot of my good friends that I have now. All my close friends I have met. I have met them through playing basketball.. Whether they were on my team, the opposing team or just fans in the crowd who admired my play. Not only has basketball helped me gain friends, but basketball also taught me a lot about life. There are many aspects of life that coincide with basketball. For instance basketball is a team game and an individual game. Like in life you have to work together with other people. The communication skills I learned from basketball helped me communicate with friends, girlfriends, parents and bosses at work.
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
Basketball kept me and my friends connected we watch it and play it whenever we get the opportunity.

Basketball is my passion. I started playing when I was little, and since then I have been fortunate with experiences that many girls would yearn for. In 2012 I got selected to attend a basketball program in the USA, funded by the U.S. Department of the State. There, I learned techniques, skills and the role of woman in sports.
I enjoy doing sports. One sport that I play and enjoy doing is basketball. I have been playing basketball since 2nd grade and I love to play basketball. In my free time, I would love to go out and play basketball with my friends. I started playing basketball when I was around 11-12 years old during my time in my primary school. It was that I was considered as a tall student back at that time, so the coaches there encouraged me to play this team sport. Since that time, my life’s always been involved with basketball. I believe that I’ve already watched the NBA, national basketball association, for more than 6 years now and nothing will stop me to do so at anytime soon.
