The racecar was not the most creative or what some would call beautifully designed. But the owner and his father worked for weeks on that little wooden block to turn it into something the ten-year-old boy could be proud to race. A previous race showed what needed to be done for a car to make it in the top five. After careful designing, sanding, painting, and graphite the car was finished. The day of the race, many were oohing and aahing over expertly designed and decorated cars. It was easy to pick out the cars a father or grandfather created without the interference of a child. The little boy who carefully designed and painted his car was up against several professional looking cars. He was nervous and his Dad and Momma were nervous. The buzzer sounded, the gate dropped, and the cars took off down the track. All of them slowed down or stopped half way to the finish line except for the little yellow and black car. This happened every time the boy’s car raced. His Momma’s heart swelled with pride because she knew he would not win for creativity or perfect painting and design. …show more content…
The first thing out of my husband’s mouth was “this is his race, his car; he did most of the work himself with some graphite for speed. I wanted him to have a car he built and could be proud of whether he won anything or not.” That little car did two things that day, it finished each race and made a 10-year-old boy proud. In the end, my son’s car took home 1st place in
Some say that automotive racing began when the second car was built. For over a hundred years, competition has driven innovation in the car industry, thus the industry maxim “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” NASCAR and drag racing contributed greatly to muscle cars’ success. Muscle cars were born from these competitions as factory made race cars. Because of this, the muscle car quickly moved from a low quantity specialty item to the image of the American automotive scene. Each brand had to have one and each one needed better performance and personality than the next. The Golden Age began in the 1960s with the introduction of more performance models such as the Chevy SS Impala and the Ford Galaxy Starliner (Auto Editors).
This fearless and tenacious spirit is overwhelming in the concept cars of the space race. They allowed the creators to feel a sense of freedom and positivity about a future that was almost expected once man had set foot on the moon. The automobile was an excellent platform for this experimentation and the artistic results have generated a sense of nostalgia that is accessible to everyone and will continue to do so for many years to come.
The most compelling description of Paul is that he is dependable, and will always be devoted to his unit even during times of hopelessness. Some soldiers gave up at the end of the war because they thought that the war would never end, and that the Allies would not give up until all the Central Powers were defeated. Paul is not one of those soldiers; instead he was the one that remained devoted to his country. In his description of war, Paul says, “…a great brotherhood, which adds something of the good fellowship...and of the desperate loyalty to one another of men condemned to death, to a condition of life arising out of the tension and forlornness of death” (272). This displays that Paul still remains whole, and that he hasn’t been impaired by
I've been four wheeling since I was about three. Id say its pretty fun when you're not busy crashing. My favorite thing about four wheeling is having the wind blow in my face, it makes me feel free in a way. When i'm with my family four wheeling nothing can stop us so you better watch out. My best experience while riding a four wheeler was when I was about nine my grandpa and my four year old sister were together on one four wheeler and I was on my own we were riding down the road when my grandpa said “ Aryona do you want to go down there?” i was a little scared at first, but he told me it would be okay, so i said “yes.” Once we got down there I was happy I decided to go because It was awesome! One of my favorite things about
one of the most majestic cars created. Nick?s comments on the vehicle describe its luster, ?...and
The short novel takes place in a speeding elegant sports car. The driver, who is the narrator, refers to himself as Papa. Papa is driving his daughter and a poet and family "friend," Henri. While driving, Papa informs them that he is aware of Henri's affair with both Papa's daughter and wife, and he is going to crash the car and all of its passengers into the stone wall of a desolate farmhouse. His purpose for this violent action is not, as would be easily concluded, to get revenge--that would simply be a bonus; his real purpose is to produce art. Papa is somewhat of an artist, and he has decided that the ultimate aesthetic is produced by the melding of the automobile into a new complex array according to his mental blueprint:
Alonzo’s heart increased as his hands closed around the steering wheel of his white Calater coupe, a newly released car model. He felt the cold breeze brush against his face as he looked to the horizon. It was cool and dry; clear of any cops, pedestrians and cars. A perfect night for this race, he thought, smirking slightly.
Besides the dissimilarities in their situation though they form an unexpected collaboration that was formed on mutual interest in automotive and engineering. Surprisingly, their association continued for only six years, they formed a car acknowledged as the elite car in the world.
William W. Botorff, “What was the first car? A quick history of the Automobile for young people”,
Today cars are all around us. They come in many different shapes and sizes. Some of them are even becoming better for the environment. Let's go back to the car when it was first made. Believe it or not Henry Ford was not the first person to create the car. However, what he did was still very important.
Cars are the ultimate symbol of independence and individualism. They offer more than freedom. No other man made creation but car fulfills a man’s ego. Technology has been the evidence of how cars have evolved for about more than a century now. From a first car packing a single cylinder 958cc, 0.75hp engine to today’s most powerful 8000cc W16, 1300bhp Veyron. We live in such an engineering savvy era where even an increase of few grams in a vehicle’s weight means going back to the drawing board to get unerring dynamic performance. And for these exuberant reasons, mechanical engineering was a mere choice rather than a chance for me.
Nearly 100 years ago, man gave birth, without the aid of a woman, to his own startlingly ugly little creation. And much like woman does, he has been taking that ugly creation and sticking it in other's faces, and asking "Isn't it beautiful?" or some variation thereof. After a few forty-odd years or so of evolution, a genuine automotive culture sprang up that's as American as, well, a Chevrolet.
A time in which I had to make a big decision that had consequences was the time I had to pick my first car. In the decision on to pick which car I had to think about these three factors gas milage, time frame, and part availability. Picking the car that met all these goals would be the deciding factor in which one I got.
Another purpose Paul wrote was to prevent false teachers from gaining another foothold. Paul unquestionably wanted to point out the significance of opposing the false teachers and their misleading teachings. He started talking about them in the very beginning of the chapter. He also reminded them once again of false teachings before he ended the book of 1 Timothy. It is substantial to have complete faith in Christ, because hope is based on God; if we learn from false teachings, it would only lead us away from the truth.
I lived with my father for my entire life, but due to his work I did not spend much time with him. My father worked at a different city; and thus he comes home only a few times a month. My father is a mechanic. He works at a company that is distant from our home. This was due to the company being the only one and the first where cars were being assembled in Ethiopia. Sometimes on the weekends I used to go to his work place. He would give me a trip of the place; the station was filled with vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles. It was separated by sections. In each section there were only one type of vehicle and the assembly process was shown step by step. From a fuse to large engine of the car, components were getting attached.
