I remember the first time i read this book. I, growing up in a christian home which fervently studies scripture, had decided to try and study on my own, see what I could learn from the book whole religions based their faith off. I had decided to read the book of job, at first I planned on reading only the parts about the devil, as I was trying to figure out what the Bible, my sole source of trustworthy information, said about the devils beginnings. However as I didn’t know the exact verses to look for I decided to read through the entire book of Job till the desired passage was found but I soon found a far more interesting verse: the one cited above. Out of the entire book of Job, The ostrich, The eagle, the hawk, not even the behemoth and …show more content…
For days I tried to imagine that horse, whom God had spoken so gloriously of, I tried to Imagine myself there, with Job and his friends, watching a horse scatter Its enemies on the battle field. Trying to imagine the horse rearing up and Whinnying and snorting as the trumpets sounded. I tried to imagine the rider, tried to imagine his feeling of might, to feel the power of having such a powerful, fearsome, mount. I wanted to describe the horses power in my own words, but the book of Job seems to cover it all. I can only describe the feeling of awe to see its muscles stretch and push and pull as it dashes across the land. At first I could barely form an image at all. I knew the only way to describe it was to see it. See it I would. One day my family had headed over to the theater, the movie, war horse. By then I had nearly forgotten about my fascination with the p3 …show more content…
It was full of power and speed and despite the apparent fear in it’s eyes there was also something else. It knew, not only that his reins were in the right hands, but that it could not be outrun. So it burst forward, a mighty beast, the unprepared german soldiers running for dear life. Few escaped it’s wrath but those who did had a plan b. A trench with heavy machine guns was set on the edge of the forest behind the camp, and the few soldiers who made it there began to pour bullets from the barrels, and yet the horse ran right towards them, even after it’s rider had been knocked from his saddle, the horse ran on over the enemy lines before being captured. It was an amazing beautiful movie and there is no question as to if you should watch it. I left the theatres with my family that day with a fire still in my belly. So that was the war horse, who feared nothing and nickered mockingly at the trumpets of war; Yet my experience with this majestic beast was not yet concluded and there was still much for me to experience with it. The day I could finally truly experience this animals full might and up close power came in the form of horse riding classes, my sisters were so excited to ride one, and I, although having small respectful fear of what this living thing was capable of doing to me, at least wanted to run my hand over its
The specific explanation of a scene can change depending on who sees it and how they choose to interpret it. The scene of the book that I have chosen is on page 99-102. The scene is when the Vaqueros bring in wild colts from the mesa stuck out to me. The scene shows John Grady’s knowledge and care of horses and shows the common misconceptions of a horse by Rawlings. The scene also shows the level of confidence that John Grady has in his own ability with horses and the trust that Rawlins has in him when it comes to break the horses in only four days. As the owner of the ranch gave the permission to try, while still say in not so nice a way they had no chance, you can assume he had faith in them.
In the text it says,” So that no way in the world can you get rid of that nasty hard thing; it is very bad! Yes, Very bad! At least I thought so.” This evidence shows us that the author uses first person point of view to show that the horse does have feelings about things his owner does to him. Another piece of evidence is, “ I certainly did feel queer; but I must say I felt rather proud to carry my I felt rather proud to carry my master, and as he continued to ride me a little every day I soon became accustomed to it.” this evidence shows us that the horse still has feelings and different emotions towards different things that are happening with them or around
The horse is a spirit animal that can be used to describe many characteristics in the book Bless Me Ultima. The horse symbolizes many things, some being personal drive, passion, and an appetite for freedom. An appetite for freedom is the symbol that sticks out the most from the many. In the novel Bless Me Ultima many of the males spoke of freedom. Antonio’s brothers all wanted freedom. As soon as they arrived home from the war their parents were telling them what they would do from then on. Their father hassled them with plans of moving. His dream was for him and his boys to move to California. It’s all he’s dreamed about ever since they went to war. This is where his driving force comes from. As soon as they arrived he pulled out a bottle
...bject of divination. The horse to the Germans is the most trusted species of augury and at public expense they have white horses kept in sacred groves for the taking of auspices which is conducted by noting the horse's various snorts and neighs.
...n the world. Job questions what god is really doing for him. Then god talks to job in question form about the creation of the earth. This shows that jobs is very small compared to god, so small that he cannot even being to understand some of the the things god is telling him. Chapter 38 proves to job that humans are far below the power of god then in chapter 42 job quickly shames himself for the previous things he said.
Everyone has their own weakness, and that one Achilles heel is looked upon as a mere imperfection. While a horse cannot have the complex emotions humans have, it still has a vulnerability. Boxer the horse is the most noble, selfless, and resilient character in the book Animal Farm. Boxer did not take a rest, that was his one imperfection. In the eyes of an average person that is not a problem, but a trait like that is what most people look for. In a communist society no matter how hard someone works they still get paid the same. To Boxer that is the impairment that makes him the most noble, resilient, and selfless.
1. The voting game was interesting, and it was an analogy to real life situations. Initially I was confused and really did not understand the game. At first I assumed that if I voted the number 1 I would not receive any money, and if I voted the number 0, I would receive money. I was thinking this was a tricky game, and everyone would vote 0 because if they voted 1 they wouldn’t receive any money. I was wrong. Only fifteen students voted for the number 0: the rest voted for the number 1. I received $30,000 while the people who voted the number 1 received $38,000, $8,000 more! I then understood the game and how I should vote, but then a classmate pleaded his case and hoped everyone would vote 0, so the money we received would increase and we
As I opened the door to the barn, I could smell the strong scent of hay and I heard a horse whinny. As soon as I saw a tall horse more than twice the size of me, a twist of nervousness formed inside me and I wondered how I would ever be able to ride that thing. As the councillors from the “Horse Camp” put the sattles on the horses and handed us our helmets. (I later learned that my horses name was Bailey.) We all walked our horses out of the big scarlet coloured barn and attempted to put their feet in the stirrups and hop on. I did end up getting on (with a little help) and one of the leaders tried to teach us how to steer, give them commands and ride around a few pylons.
The World War I, was fought among Great Britain, France, Russia and more in 1914-1918. In this war, more than nine million people died towards the cause of the world war. This has been recognized as the bloodiest war in history by many soldiers risking their life for freedom. However not just soldiers died as well as animals like horses. The horses were employed for transportation and to carry goods. The southern Calvary was a better horseman so they use horses to their advantage. Soldiers would’ve not been able to fight the war without the help of the horses. They were applied to conduct military equipment, and increase mode of transportation; This benefit brought consequences for the horses.
Bierce’s portrays in “A Horseman in the Sky” is the cruelty and horror of the Civil War, and the plot of the story is a young man’s struggle between patriotism and familial duties. It presents the very hardships that many relatives faced during the Civil War and how one could lose sight of their love of family. Druse’s hesitation before lowering the aim of his rifle to shoot the horse, could just as well have been caused by the fact that every enemy in this war was in some way his family. Ultimately he realizes that no matter at whom he will be aiming, the enemy is and will always be the emblem of his
In conclusion, horses mean more to me than many other things. They are part of my friends and family, but I also have great respect for them. Horses are surrounded by benefits that make us feel exceptional. Their colors are all attractive. Their breeds are marvelous and unique. Their history with us is quite a beneficial relationship. Their behavior is different from ours, but is an easy language to learn. Showing horses is exhilarating! Caring for them can seem like a chore, but is actually an overall fun and propitious experience. Riding horses is fun and meaningful, not just something to learn or do just because. And, no matter what people say, I believe there is something truly special about my dear friend the horse.
In conclusion, The War Horse, directed by Steven Spielberg, was a film that portrayed many of the intricate relationships between a human and horse during the time of World War I by showing how horses in the film represented more than just tools but symbolized the humanity of humans as they relate to the freedom humans wished for in WWI, the power of humans and the tactics used to achieve that strength, and finally the determination and hope one had to hold onto in order for one to hold onto their humanity. As a result from this film, it shows the audience that beasts and humans can relate on the same terms

I always strive to complete my homework and assignments to the best of my ability and turn them in on time if not early. My performance in school is extremely important to me therefore I study materials outside what is given to me in class and do independent research for homework and assignment. My work ethic is very strong and I work very hard to maintain it.
