I always strive to complete my homework and assignments to the best of my ability and turn them in on time if not early. My performance in school is extremely important to me therefore I study materials outside what is given to me in class and do independent research for homework and assignment. My work ethic is very strong and I work very hard to maintain it. I am a leader through several different programs and in everyday life. This school year I am a part of Link Crew, Key Club, and am a teacher in our South Western Preschool class. In Link Crew I assist the freshmen to become acquainted with the high school and help them with whatever other challenged they might face. In Key Club I am a leader in the community by dedicating my time to volunteering and helping those in need. In Preschool Lab I lead the children to develop in all aspects such a intellectually and socially. I believe I am also a leader in …show more content…
everyday situations, in group projects I like to keep my group on schedule and make sure everyone is working to their best ability, I offer my help to students in classes I have and are currently taking who are struggling, as well as offering my work to be used as an example to teachers. Community service has become something very important to me within the past year. As I stated before I am a part of the South Western Organizations Link Crew and Key Club. So far this school year I have completed about fourteen hours of service between the two organizations. In Key club I have helped with the preparation for the 2016 South Western zombie 5k as well as helping out in community events. However I do volunteer outside of those organizations such as the Hanover Kid’s Day in Wirt Park and the Westminster Tech Stroll. At those events I help set up, assist vendors, mande activities, and clean up. Community service hours should certainly be included as one of the pillars of Nation Honors Society. Volunteering gives a person to help their community and allows them to grow as a person. Personally through volunteering I have learned a lot. I have learn about not only myself but the local community and people. Through volunteering you interact with people you may never have another chance to and are exposed to different personalities, cultures, and ways of life. Overall community service makes you a better and more well rounded person. In the classroom I believe I am responsible, concentrated, and hard worker.
Responsibility is a large part of being a successful learner. I always do complete my homework and assignments to the best of my ability and turn them on time. During class I am concentrated and focused whether it is during independent work, partner / group work, note taking, or review. This concentration and focus helps me better absorb information for homework, test, and miscellaneous assignments. While completing tasks during class I work as hard as I can just as I would for outside of school tasks to earn the best grade possible and to learn as much as I can. My character is aligned with the philosophy of National Honors Society because I am dedicated to being an intellectual, conscientious, and accepting human being, as well becoming my most authentic self. Through impeccable hard work in school, community service, and in my everyday life and personal relationships I am growing everyday and believe that Nation Honors Society would give me a chance to continue my
growth. My least favorite teacher would describe me as tenacious and an overachiever. I tend to have a set plan or idea and when it is attempted to be altered in any way I fight against it and I often find it hard to be open to other ideas once I’ve made up my mind. This is something I have to continuously work on as I did when I was working with that teacher. As an overachiever I sometimes do more than what a teacher asks of me. This teacher took this as not following their instructions. Throughout the time I had spend with this teacher I learned to condense my work to what they specifically wanted. To maintain a civil relationship with this teacher I had to alter the type of work I complete to their standards as well as work one on one with them to understand said standards. To me failure is about not meeting my own expectations as well as other. However, failure is not always a negative instead it can be a positive learning experience. As a predominantly straight A student I believe when I received a low B in one of my classes I had failed. I did not meet my own expectations or my previous academic standard. This class was in the fall semester of my freshman year. From this, what I consider failure, I learned that the level of difficulty a of high school class is much different from what I had previously experienced throughout my schooling. I learned that to maximise my high school education and experiences as well as meet my personal standards for myself I was going to have to have to work harder and apply myself more.
National Honors Society is an extremely prestigious and well-known group that gave me the opportunity to assist the community while working harmoniously with my peers. To get into NHS, there are four pillars one must fulfill, including, scholar, service, leadership, and character. One may not realize it, but these qualities apply all throughout life. In order to be successful, one must achieve some form of each pillar. Being dedicated and committed to learning and improving but also using the knowledge one previously has is to be a scholar. Giving back to one’s community by making improvements or donations or simply just being courteous to one’s neighbor is to give one’s service. Taking the initiative to solve problems and guide others towards
It is the job of a leader to be a role model because people look up to you. Leadership is something I may have to work on a little because I am a shy person, but that doesn’t stop me. Last year, some 6th grade student were going to be selected to give a tour of the school to the 5th graders who were coming to Great Hollow the following year. My teacher was unsure that I would be a good choice because I am quiet in class. But I convinced him to let me be a tour guide and he was impressed with my performance. I was excited and talked to the students about the school and I was happy to be a leader and show the 5th graders what to do. I proved to myself I had
“Leadership, dreams, scholarships, service, pride and character”, the first words that come to mind when I hear “National Honor Society”. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades. I heartened myself to get stronger grades, because since the day I found out in freshman year that there was National Honor Society I was determined to get in. The day of my sister’s graduation
Being a potential candidate of the National Honor Society is a distinction that I greatly honor. I wish to be a member of the prestigious group for the various benefits to myself, my school, and my community. A member of my family was a former member of the National Honor Society; he has mentioned many positive benefits of being a member and how being a member is beneficial to the community. Due to my exemplary qualities of a National Honor Society member, I am qualified to be part of the chapter.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
I am honored to be among the students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I must admit that this is a group that I have been anticipating joining since the beginning of my high school career. I believe that I deserve this honor and this chance because I have worked very hard to get here. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with grades and praiseworthy character, I believe that I have both. My grades are a priority at school because when it comes down to it that is what I will be judged on, alongside my character and attitude. As a student athlete, I pride myself on being a good role model, not just in my home and school, but also in my community. I have participated in many activities that served
Being inducted into the National Honors Society is what I have been waiting for. Becoming a member is nothing more than a dream come true, and I appreciate it greatly. If I am to be chosen as a member I know that I will be a positive and dependable participant in society activities. Due to my abilities and past experiences, I can be considered a valuable candidate because I demonstrate the qualities of leadership, service, and character. I do feel that if I am chosen, I will do nothing detract from the prestige and respectability that is associated with the society.
Ghandi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. The National Honor Society consists of individuals who exhibit scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Those apart of this special program are expected to not only strive to improve their social environment, but act as a role model, and influence others in a positive and responsible manner. Hearing what the National Honor Society strives and stands for, I believe that I demonstrate the traits and ideals for what the program offers.
I consider myself an excellent candidate for the National Honors Society. I believe I am overall very well rounded in the areas of leadership, helping and giving to the community, and have a wonderful personality.
My life is like a novel, not one of that with a twist and turn at every corner, however a more unflustered yet compelling story. Since the beginning of my student career the one quality that has been persistent with me would have to be my fearless work ethic. While many friends of mine in my childhood would be reading Marvel Comics I would be the lone one reading on Pythagorean’s Theorem or the anatomy of dinosaurs. School has not been the easiest of tasks, and not taking any on level classes during my highschool tenure doesn't help. While many of my friends today go out shopping or catching movie on a Friday night, I would stay home and get ahead on projects or reports due the next week. Although doing homework on a Friday night is not
Leadership: During my life I have always felt it was important to be a leader in every activity that was presented to me. In school, I have always taken the responsibility of leading my team to get A 's on our group projects. I believe it is important to not only show your personal qualifications but to also bring out the best in other people around you. A leader is someone who can bring success to a group not to just themselves. I show great leadership qualities within my group of friends.
My work ethic helps me excel in academics. As soon as I get home from school, I try to do my homework so I don’t have to worry about it later. I also feel that I participated pretty well in class discussions and group work, because of that I understood what we were learning. I also listened carefully to the instructions so I would know what to do. When I work hard and finish all my work, my grades start rocketing up.
Succeeding At Work is the agency I decided to do my service learning volunteer hours at. The company was listed as one of the service learning supervisors that where provided by the professor of the HSML 3000 summer class. What caught my eye was the name of the company, I didn’t know the mission or purpose of the company at the time of reaching out. After reading about the company I learned about the mission. Which is to foster ethical, social, and professional development. The company’s main focus is to train, educate, motivate and empower individuals to excel in the work place.
A community leader expands their collective experience, skills and energy to drive positive social change and enable their communities to thrive. Throughout elementary school and high school, I engaged in school clubs and special classes, volunteered in my community, took on leading roles for fundraising and acquired many jobs. I have become a leader in my community because of references from jobs or activities, connections with other leaders and by achieving high academic grades and excelling in sports, I have chosen to share my abilities with others and proceed to make a change.
I get up with a sore back from our lumpy beds and tears are already running down my face. I already know whats in store for today, a whole bunch of pain and work. I am a plantation worker so I have to be outside in the hot sun and pick cotton for hours, but i’m not going to complain, I am trying to see my wife and daughter and I can’t if my owner says no. So I rush out of bed but I can barely move because our owners have shoved about a dozen of us into one small raggedy hut. I walk outside and see someone getting whip over and over again but I restrain myself from helping him and from shedding a tear because if i do i’ll be next. I walk over to where the food is being served and what we are eating is what looks to be unwanted fruits and cornmeal
