Personal Narrative: Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone

I believe in stepping out of your comfort zone, this risk often results in positive outcomes. Stepping out of your comfort zone means doing things that you don't feel comfortable with and getting outside of your comfort levels. I encourage others to push themselves in unfamiliar places, and to do things that they wouldn't normally do. Never taking a risk results in missed opportunities.
First, it was the summer going into 9th grade and my mom came into my room, early morning, and ripped upon the curtains, causing my pitch black room to fill with light. She explained to me that later that morning I was going to attend a tennis camp, and that I had no choice. Obviously my first reaction was anger, I was getting sent to a camp where I was not aware of how to play the sport. I put my feelings aside, tried not to think about it, put my tennis shoes on, and just showed up. For the first practice, and many practices following, I struggled to learn the sport, but continued to work on it during the rest of the summer. On my first day of freshman year, I went to tennis tryouts, and made the team. Throughout that season I improved, and made friends with people that I normally didn’t talk to. Always playing it safe, doesn’t allow you to reach your full potential. Although at the time, I’m sure taking a risk will be uncomfortable and scary, but if you do not take this opportunity, it can result in regret. Stepping out of your comfort zone won’t always work out like my tennis story, but it is always good for you to try something
