The year before kindergarten, my family went on a road trip. We went to Mall of America in Minnesota. My mom used to do Creative Memories so we had to go to Minnesota for her showcase. We picked up my cousin Mark, and we were on our way. We went to a huge hotel with a pool slide that looped in and out of the building. The pool was also very large. The next morning my dad took my mom to showcase, and my sisters and cousin stayed at the hotel with me until he got back. I was sleeping on the floor, and I thought it was still dark and when I tried to sit up I hit my head super hard. It turns out I rolled my head under the bed so that’s why I thought it was still night. It hurt very badly! We went to Mall of America later and it was a blast! They
Wisconsin Dells was better than Six Flags because my family stayed longer. We were in Wisconsin Dells for four days, but we were only at Six Flags for two days. Because we were in the Dells longer, my family was able to create more memories. Six Flags may have had more attractions inside the park itself, but I felt rushed and did not enjoy my time there as much. The length of time my family spent in Wisconsin also gave us the ability to experience the numerous attractions found outside of the park.
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
I wonder if I should I start calling Las Vegas, Nevada home now. I’ve traveled back and forth from California to Las Vegas since I was a child. I can remember at the age of thirteen my family and I would take family weekend trips very often. By the age of seventeen I was forced to move to Vegas for 6 months right before my senior year of high school started. Since it was my last year of high school my parents decided to let me go back to California for the last three months and graduate with my friends. Since I wasn’t eighteen yet, I forced to go back to Las Vegas right the day after graduation.
Because of some of the circumstances that make me who I am, it is hard to say I have any one definitive home. Instead, I have had two true homes, ever since I was a young child. What makes this even more of a conundrum is that my homes have always had little in common, even though they are only a few hundred miles apart. Between the big city of Houston, Texas, and the small town of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, I have grown up in two very different towns that relate to one another only in the sense that they have both raised me.
Years ago my family took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I chose this common experience for this memory assignment. First, I made a list of all the things I remembered from my trip at Yellowstone. I remembered we traveled in our motorhome and got halfway to our destination and parked on the side of the road and slept there for the night. I remember seeing the famous geyser; Old Faithful, in addition to seeing lots of bison, and bears. I recall one night that we stayed in a campground bears were in the campground and we were being told to stay in our campers. I also remember during the trip my dad would give me all the spare change and I would collect it. I saved the change up to buy souvenirs or candy. I also remember going to a shirt
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
A significant moment in her life was the time she moved from Hawaii to Colorado. It was not a smooth transition between two completely different places. Nevertheless, she would manage to fall in love with Colorado just as much as her Hawaiian home.
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
Have you ever been in Iowa? Well I have and I was 7 years old the first time I went. You may ask why did you go to Iowa? Well, my family went and visited my mom’s dad’s mom or my great grandma. We also call her Gigi, she is now in her late 80’s. What would you do if you were going to see your 87 year old grandma?
My Michigan is an old teacher of mine his name is Mr. Stem, he was my science and math teacher for 5th grade,, I had trouble mostly in math and he knew i was good at it so if he knew I needed help he would help me understand what we were doing in class same with science, if i ever needed help with either of the subjects i knew he would be there to help me just like any teacher would, he was a really approachable teacher even outside of school you could walk up to him and he would help you if you needed it, last year he retired and I am happy he was one of the teacher that I had to help me through Math and Science in 5th grade which made 5th grade so much easier because he was so approachable and easy going. In grade 2 on the weekend I went to my friends house for a sleepover and we started playing with his little brother. We played a few games and nothing went wrong. Then we played a game where we were running away from his brother and he had to catch us. So we ran upstairs and into his room. We covered the door so he couldn’t get in, but eventually we let him in and he couldn’t get my friend so he went for me. When he finally got me he grabbed my legs and I fell and my head hit the corner of his bed and I was bleeding and screaming like crazy. So I ran down the stairs screaming my bloody head off. So hi mom drove me to the hospital and gave me ice: for my head. When we got the the hospital I was so scared I wasn’t even
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
My favorite smell, probably his, hers, and theirs too, is the smell of freshly cut grass. It’s a little bit sad, actually, that I like the smell of dead organisms, murdered by the hired mower or my grandfather or the obnoxious neighbors who play their drums loudly every Friday. The smell of freshly cut grass brings me back to the time before my parents split up, nearly eight years ago. I feel like I’ve time-traveled to the years of 2009 and 2010. Those were good years. My family of five, myself included, would go on road trips reaching as far as the border of Kansas to the coniferous trees of the Rocky Mountains. There’s a particular memory that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget. Imagine being four years old and sitting in a Honda
This summer I decided to do Eastside volleyball club with Kelsey, Sophie, and Emily. My team decided to go to Wisconsin Dells for a volleyball tournament. We all stayed at a hotel with a great water park in it called Chula Vista, which isn't that popular but it was fun. Chula Vista was fun because they had many fun and big slides that I did with my team. Everyone also got to play volleyball in a big dome. I'm pretty sure everyone on our team had fun.
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
