Introduction Who mentors me and who do I mentor? I personally have had a lot of good mentors in my life. These men have spoken truth in my life. They have shown me what it means to be a Christian man. One person that comes to my mind that has taken time out of his life guide me to be my friend Ron Grace. Ron is much older and wiser than me. He’s been a Christian longer than I have been alive. He and his wife always pray for me that God will show me what he has in store for me. Another mentor that I have would be my coach, Adam parent. Coach showed me the joys of ministry and gave me the opportunity to do ministry. And even though we live hundreds of miles apart he still encourages me every day. I’ve always known that people are sinners and that we all have fallen short of the glory of God. But never really thought about the aspect of the people who are failed as good mentors. We talked about a question of at what point do we say that someone is no longer good mentor? And that answer is personal no one can tell you one way or another. Yancey talks about broken people becoming the hands and feet of Christ. Being the mentors for the next generation. So I agree with everything he says
The Bible is full of broken and sinful people that God used for his glory. David a man after God’s own heart, was a lustful fornicator murderer. But God still used him, bringing Jesus from the line of David. Noah the man that God started new with, was a drunkard. Sampson the strongest man in the Bible, fell prey to lust. Solomon the most wise man in the entire Bible, didn’t live the best lifestyle. Rahab a prostitute, God used her to help liberate the land that God had given the Israelites. There is many more examples of God using sinful people in order to do his work.
How does this impact my faith? I think if God can use sinful broken adulterers, he can use me a sinner to do the work that he has entrusted me to do.
