As Justin and Jacob walk into the gym, both very scared, yet anxious to be assigned their sport, they can hear the sweat dripping and trainers yelling. As they walk into the office of the picker they see and hear kids crying from getting a sport they do not want to play. They sit in the chairs in front of the picker as she is looking over their forms and asking questions about their life. Then finally they both get assigned waterpolo. A sport they were ok with but definitely not their first choice. As they are done with their training and in their rooms they go to sleep to prepare for the next day of training. Justin and Jacob joined their water polo team the next day. They soon realized that their whole team, just like them had wanted …show more content…
to play lacrosse. They did not think about that too much as they practiced and trained for the season against other rival towns. Like Scottsville where Justin and Jacob lived Scovillage was a very competitive place. As they trained and talked when they went to their joint they started to realize that they would not give people the sport that they wanted. Justin and Jacob did not like how they did this and they wanted to put an end to it. The next day jacob woke up. What if me and Justin switched groups and joined the lacrosse team. He told Jacob at the morning meal. “ I don’t know, what if we get caught.”Justin says scared “ It doesn’t matter if we get caught we need to do this just to prove a point that it is not right.”Jacob demands. “ Ok fine i’ll do it, but only if we get more people to switch.” Justin reluctantly states. “ Ok that will work because everyone on our team wants to play lacrosse.”” Who should we take some people are annoying so we should take Aidan and Nick with us.” said Jacob “ Yeah those are cool kids and they will agree with us.” said Justin The next day after Justin and Jacob did some discussing of the plan with their new team members they went back to water polo for one last day.
They talked with other friends until they would tell their other friends they were going to switch the next day to lacrosse. Their friend Josh was sad that they were going to leave. “But if it works then we'll all get to play lacrosse together. Right?” Josh said excited that his friends might help him to get to play lacrosse again. ‘ As Justin lay in his joint he thought about what he was doing and how it could change this whole town and basically the whole world that he lives in. On the other hand, he thought if he gets caught he will be killed and so would all of his friends who trusted him when he said it would work. Either way it needed to be done whether he got executed or if he survived and changed society. He felt his eyelids getting heavier and soon they fell over his eyes and his body did not have the strength to open them back up. He fell asleep and dreamt of a free land where he could play lacrosse and just live his
life. Justin, as excited as he would be in his life ran up to his friends and talked very fast. “ Are you ready to rumble” Justin said to his friends. They all nodded in agreement happy but not as happy as Justin was or as happy as he would have hoped for. They all walked over to the lacrosse training session and convinced four boys to go take their spot at the waterpolo training area. The other boys were sceptical but Justin convinced them to go to the water polo pool so they could play lacrosse.

While the rest of the boys hurry ahead at the sound of the bell for dinner, the roommates playfully wrestle until they are late for the meal. They slip into the dormitory, where they read their English assignments and play their radio (against school rules), until it is time for bed.
Gene jumped into the river even though he’s scared because of Finny’s persistence. After the two boys jumped, the other three refuses to do the jumping, so they headed back for dinner. Into their way back, the 2 best friends wrestle with one another and missed dinner. Consequently, they went straight to their rooms. Mr. Prud’homme, a substitute teacher for the summer session, went to Gene and Finny to discipline them the next morning for missing dinner, but he was soon won over by Finny’s ebullient talkativeness and leaves without giving punishment.
As more of my teammates began to show up, I recognized most of them. However, I learned later that if I went on to play in the Spring, this would not be the same exact team I would play with. With only twenty minutes until we began,I put on all of my gear and my dad gave me a thorough warm up. Time seemed to fly by, and before I knew it, everyone was gathered together as positions were being assigned. I was originally overwhelmed with excitement, but as the game drew closer, the joy I had felt was replaced with anxiety. The lacrosse game taking place before ours ended and we entered and took our place on our bench. I recognized the opposing team’s jerseys quickly and identified them as a travel team from our area. Taking one final breath, I rushed into the lacrosse net enjoying my bird’s eye view, unsure of what was to

The other team was gathering on the other side of the pool, clad in matching windbreakers. Secured on their heads were the blue swim caps of the visiting team, passing along the line of caps until everyone had their correct number. Seungyoon looked at Taehyun, making a face.
As a Senior on my Water Polo team, it is important for me to act as a leader. Incoming Freshmen look up to the Seniors they play with, and my teammates and coaches rely on me to help resolve disputes, and facilitate practice. The Clovis Unified School District has several schools with great athletic programs. Unfortunately, Clovis East, my school, has always been the runt of the litter. I have played Water Polo at East since I was in the seventh grade, and never once have we beaten a Clovis school in a League game. The whole culture at East has always held a defeated attitude towards other Clovis schools. We shouldn’t beat them, so therefore we can’t. However, the attitude is changing, we are becoming much more confident as a team, and we have
Jace was ready. He was determined to win his game. As he’s squatting down at the catcher's box, he sees a ball hurtling towards him. The batter swings, he misses. As Jace moves his hand slightly to the left, he feels a ball in his hand. He had caught the ball! He jumped up screaming, “We won! We won! I can’t believe we won!!” As he walks over to the other team to say ‘good game’ he can’t stop smiling. He and his teammates were so happy that it called for a celebration. They decided that the next day they were going to go to Worlds & Oceans of Fun.
It is the final hour of observation of the night, and, as the members of the water polo team rush to the opposite end of the pool that I am observing from, I become dazed. Sitting in five excruciatingly long, overwhelming college-level classes, listening to small-minded people rant about some political event or another, and watching my basketball team practice without me is enough to make the aqua blue walls of the pool area inviting. I stare off into the wall, wondering if, just like the water, I can jump right in and disappear.
They were pretty good friends considering he that he just moved there last month. While they were arriving Brian’s stomach filled with butterflies, what if no one liked him or he embarrassed himself in front of the whole school. Or...what if...another freak disaster happened…. As he drifted off into a depression-filled thought Stanley broke him out of it saying, “Don’t worry, they’re all nice... If you stay on their good side” he mumbled.
Swimming has been my whole life, since I jumped into the pool for the very first time. I loved every aspect of swimming from the adrenaline running through my body during my races and getting to spend even more time with my friends and my sister, and the stress of big meets coming up in the schedule. Except everything didn't go according to plan after the first day of school when I got home and I saw my parents sitting by my sister on the coach and my sister was crying.
A dull ache had begun in his side. Lifting his shirt, he saw a large bruise beginning to form. His memory flashed to the struggle with the boy and he visibly cringed. The boy that now lay at his feet, dead, had been merely fifteen, he had barely lived. And he killed him for what? A wild goose chase that had led him nowhere? A senseless game someone was playing with him? He yelled in frustration, pulling even more at his hair. His head pounded softly against his skull, reminding him that this wasn’t a dream, no matter how much he wanted to wake up.
Everyone has a story that has led them to be who they are today and this story is mine. When I was younger, I’d spend my days in the pool. My mother encouraged me to change my weekend pleasures of floating on water, to a daily sport that I compete amongst others. Swimming has made me to be who I am today in a vast amount of ways. This sport taught me to push past the limits that I set for myself. Swimming has made me strive to be the best I can be physically, mentally, and personally. It has shown me that to work as a team, we can accomplish more than what one person can.
