I have tried to make both my school and my community a better place. I participate in a few group that try and help to better the community. First off, I am in National Honors Society. I volunteer with group activities and other volunteering opportunities such as unpaid elementary math tutoring. Second, I am almost finished my Eagle Scout Project, and this requires a lasting impression on your community. My project is about music and its effect on the elderly, and relating it to memory disorders, in hopes of improving their way of life. Third, most of my volunteering in the community is independent of an organization. I volunteer my violin skills to a group in need or a couple who does not have the money to pay some musicians. I donate my time
to church, playing when they need a violin. I have even donated my time to performances at rotary club dinners, where the money raised would help children get immunized against polio. I am very inspired to improve my community because I believe that if I do not try and make the world a better place, who will? It is up to the individual to make sure their community is improving, otherwise, you are just complaining about something, without ever trying to fix it, even blaming others for today’s problems. I have learned from improving my community that you get as you put effort into the community, it gives you all of your effort back, plus more. I think it is amazing how helping your school, church, or local people can have such a profound effect on you. My actions have given happiness to others, such as with my music and my volunteering. Most often, it cannot be done without others. Teamwork and Friendships are what you need to flourish in the world. I cannot say how many times I needed help to improve the community, and you would be surprised how many people want to help again after you get them into volunteering.
Walking into Walnut Hills High School right now would have anyone thinking the just walked into the middle of a tornado. Everyone you look there are students running in and out of doors, in and out of cars, and most certainly either turning in missing assignments or retaking tests. There is only one way for you to explain all this ciaos, Senior Year, the year that all teens await with so much excitement and ambition and the year that every single hour long study dates pays off. For the class of 2021 this isn’t just their final year at Walnut Hills this is the year that friends separate and head off to their different university to follow their dreams.
I help out my family and community in several ways. I have volunteered to help coach cheerleading at Jefferson Elementary School everyday after school. I work at Mattoon Academy of Gymnastics and coach several classes and their gymnastics team. I also work in my church's nursery on Sundays. Being a role model for all of the kids I coach and take care of means a lot to me because they look up to me and want to follow in my footsteps. Despite my busy schedule, I try to help out in the community and with my family as much as
I equate service with helpfulness—assisting others. I help both my school community by answering questions and giving feedback and my community as a whole through my volunteer activities, the most enjoyable of which has been Habitat for Humanity.
In this effort, I serve the community by making an effort to keep the people in it healthier. Lastly, I show service to my school through the help I provided while in the National Junior Honor Society. As a member of NJHS I helped our middle school begin a recycling program; I helped get the recycling boxes and bins ready, gather paper from around the school, and sort the paper after school. Through this I show a dedication to my school and community, because not only does recycling help the school reduce waste but it also allows the environment resources to last longer. For these reasons, I am an excellent, determined, helpful member, who is more than willing to provide service to my school and community.
I am dedicated to helping out our community and school, because it warms my heart and soul. Seneca said in about 40 to 60 A.D. that you should “be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favors you have received.” In other words you should not boast about the numerous projects you have accomplished and how much physical work you executed, but rather pride yourself on how you helped people in community and school, and how you have affected their lives with positive means. I feel life is joyous and it should be the feeling everyone illustrates, and this is exactly what keeps me functioning in the stressful world today. I find comfort in helping others to make their lives a little more like heaven and this comfort motivates me to perform copious service projects to the best of my capability whenever I find the time. Time is fair to the rich, the poor, and to every race, because time is equal and gives everyone 24 hours daily to accomplish their required tasks. Because time is so valuable and I am occupied by difficult advanced placement and honor classes and juggle school, clubs, sports, and friends, I joined Key Club, a high school division of the adult service club, Kiwanis. Key Club opened new doors to make every extra minute count towards helping others.
However, most of my volunteer work comes from outside of the school, such as; Pelotonia, Light the Night for leukemia and lymphoma, Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, etc. For many of these organizations I have volunteered more than once. Volunteering at Light the Night has a story. For my 16th Birthday party, I wanted to have my friends and I volunteer for the day while having fun at night. So I had 7 boys and girls, along with me, volunteer for Light the Night, organized by me.
My first experience that involved contribution to a community was in an organization known as girls as pearls. In this organization we participated in many volunteer activities, both domestic and global such as making dresses for girls in africa or volunteering at the samaritan ministry. Consequently, this early volunteerism experience influenced my involvement in the community as a high school student. I became involved in organizations such as key club, an organization focused in volunteerism. Additionally, I began to tutor middle school students and volunteering at the local church. Many of the volunteer activities that I have participate in involved children and this due to the reason that I want to be able to become a positive guide and role model for children. I want to contribute to their motivation of continuing their education and to reach for goals that they believe they can achieve. As a hispanic american I have been provided the opportunity of experiencing life from two different viewpoints which has provided me with various life lessons that aided in my development in becoming a successful and well- rounded
Over the years I have been very involved in my community and school. Being a part of something helps to define who you are as a person and the principles and values you hold as important. A personal experience that helps to show my talents and skills can be illustrated by my trip to Italy last April with the MHS Language Department.
Once there was a girl who is no different than you that was struggling with something inside her. This evil force is called depression. Depression is an illness runs in her family, which made it easier for her to develop it. At school it was like she was someone else. Suicide was a concern of her family. School was the most exceedingly terrible bad dream, not by virtue of she could not have cared less for it, but rather it was the people that encompassed her. At school one day all of this changed, because of her angel Mrs. Ogle. That girl was me.
Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is one of the most challenging accomplishments that I have completed in my life. The journey started when I was around the age of ten in the fifth grade. My friends were involved in the program and so the natural decision for me to make was to join them in what they were doing because it seemed fun. As I grew I remained involved with the scouting lifestyle and went to the meetings, events, and projects that were a part of the program. It wasn’t until I finished my Eagle Scout rank that I realized just how important all of those individual projects were. Each merit badge, community service project, and summer camp that I attended were small steps in making me who I am today. Looking back at those eight years
Ever since I joined scouting as a Senior Webelo, I wanted to become an Eagle Scout. I started my journey by obtaining my Arrow of Light, then bridged as soon as I could to Troop 0713 located at American Martyr’s church in Manhattan Beach. Now at age 14 and going into tenth grade, I stand on the brink of success regarding my Eagle Scout award after years of hard work and determination.
I can also make a difference in the community where I live. Last year my class held a car wash to raise money for the Animal Shelter. We went to visit the dogs there and I realized that the money we raised made a difference for some of them.
My community has done so much for me. Giving back to my community is the least I could do for what all it has done for me. Living in my community has made me the person I am today. My community is a rather small one, and all the people in it know everyone and greet each other with open arms and kind hearts. Growing up in this community has taught me how to be a loving, caring, and knowledgeable person. Another aspect is that all of the tax payers are how I have been a...
During my four years at Martin County High School I feel that I have made a major impact on the school and most importantly, the community. I have dedicated most of my time helping my trainer with her volleyball technique class and teaching younger and sometimes older kids how to play volleyball. I have also spent my time helping my sick friend, Susie after she has had many surgeries. I enjoy helping out my community whenever and wherever it needs the help.
Giving back to the community is one of the most important services one can provide. It is vital to help as much as possible to do good in the surrounding environment. There are so many opportunities to help, so why not take them? Being a contributing member of society is essential in order to lead a life of happiness and kindness. I try to help my high school and community to the best of my abilities by volunteering in theater, fundraising for charities, and helping the needy.
