Giving back to the community is one of the most important services one can provide. It is vital to help as much as possible to do good in the surrounding environment. There are so many opportunities to help, so why not take them? Being a contributing member of society is essential in order to lead a life of happiness and kindness. I try to help my high school and community to the best of my abilities by volunteering in theater, fundraising for charities, and helping the needy. Education will always hold a special place in my heart. I remember in seventh grade I was terrified to transfer from catholic school, to Russell O Brackman Middle School, but once I did, I knew it was the best decision. Barnegat High School and Russell O Brackman have given me so many opportunities that I will be eternally grateful for. It is only right that I would try to give back to my school as …show more content…
The only way we can keep up good in our surrounding area is if we do it ourselves, and encourage others to as well. I have done this by helping out in my prayer group. The last few years we have went Christmas caroling, and held multiple bake sales in order to raise money for the poor. We also did a toy drive where I donated around 80 stuffed animals, and we would go to our church and pull a request off the Christmas tree and buy the gift that was on there and put it back under the tree for the child so they could receive it. When it is possible, I also like to assist my neighbors when the need help with shoveling snow or mowing their lawns. I also have helped given back by doing Interact Club last year. We helped fundraise for the school and the surrounding community. We did this by donating clothes to the Big Brother Foundation, hosting a fun run, and using the money we saved up by selling chocolate bars in order to buy Christmas gifts for children whose parents could not afford
I help out my family and community in several ways. I have volunteered to help coach cheerleading at Jefferson Elementary School everyday after school. I work at Mattoon Academy of Gymnastics and coach several classes and their gymnastics team. I also work in my church's nursery on Sundays. Being a role model for all of the kids I coach and take care of means a lot to me because they look up to me and want to follow in my footsteps. Despite my busy schedule, I try to help out in the community and with my family as much as
During my career as a student, I have moved schools a total of six times. It is a challenge to adapt to a new school and catch up with their curriculum. I personally have experienced this when I moved to Orchard Hills. I was behind in Mathematics, Language Arts, and Social Studies, and being in the honors program only made it that much harder to catch up. In
I equate service with helpfulness—assisting others. I help both my school community by answering questions and giving feedback and my community as a whole through my volunteer activities, the most enjoyable of which has been Habitat for Humanity.
I am dedicated to helping out our community and school, because it warms my heart and soul. Seneca said in about 40 to 60 A.D. that you should “be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favors you have received.” In other words you should not boast about the numerous projects you have accomplished and how much physical work you executed, but rather pride yourself on how you helped people in community and school, and how you have affected their lives with positive means. I feel life is joyous and it should be the feeling everyone illustrates, and this is exactly what keeps me functioning in the stressful world today. I find comfort in helping others to make their lives a little more like heaven and this comfort motivates me to perform copious service projects to the best of my capability whenever I find the time. Time is fair to the rich, the poor, and to every race, because time is equal and gives everyone 24 hours daily to accomplish their required tasks. Because time is so valuable and I am occupied by difficult advanced placement and honor classes and juggle school, clubs, sports, and friends, I joined Key Club, a high school division of the adult service club, Kiwanis. Key Club opened new doors to make every extra minute count towards helping others.
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." is a quote that comes from William James, a great philosopher. This quote is saying that your actions do make a difference, no matter how small, and no matter if you think they make a difference or not. Every little thing you do has an impact somewhere, on someone, and on something. Actions do speak louder than words, and you never know how far down the line those actions will be felt. Community service is a great thing to put time and energy into. There are a lot of positive impacts that are made by individuals who contribute to community service projects. There are many different associations and activities that one can volunteer for to help out the community. I have done many different
When a person contributes to their community, they gain more than a just a sense of accomplishment. The experience a person gets in return from helping the community is invaluable. It is a mutually beneficial experience. A person who helps those in need gains knowledge and experience that can help them in future endeavors.
Finally I feel like I show service, which is the act of assistance, through my community service. I helped the school with the school play my freshman and sophomore years, working concession stands whenever I am able to, and helping the technology department at the school over the summer. I also help in other places in the community. For example every year I try to help put on a thanksgiving dinner for those in need with my church. This skill will help me throughout my life because it shows how important it is to help others.
Everyone should give back to the community whether it is something small by helping others out or something big to donating to the poor. Anyone could help out the community. For example, in the Christmas Carol Scrooge was approached by two gentlemen who were asking if Scrooge can donate money to the needy and the poor but then Scrooge replies “are there no prisoners?” Scrooge also says “are there no work houses?” and then Scrooge never donated which he should have donated. He didn’t donate but he did help the Cratchets until he was visited by a spirit. He helped the Cratchets by giving his clerk a Cratchet a
I intend to give back to the community by combining knowledge obtained from the study of Psychology with the leadership skills I have gained by working in a tutorial program into a wide scale program for underprivileged school children of my community.
However, I always manage to make time for giving back to the community. I think the best way I dedicate my time to the community is all the sports I’ve been involved in. This involvement has made me a caring and strong induvial, which is what the community needs when it comes to citizens. All my sports have many charity games and funraziers which I was involved in. I’ve helped raise money for cancer, suicide prevention, and multiple sclerosis, along with volunteering for the Humane Society.
It’s imperative to give back to our community and environment because there is only one. Although numbers vary, once all our resources are used or our society becomes unstable; we could lose all of it. We need to protect them with everything we have because both are unique and well civilized. Giving back to your community or environment can transition you into a happier person. “At the end of the day it’s not about what you accomplished…
My plan after college is to become a Sociologist or a Social Worker. With a college degree in one of these areas, I hope to impact my community in various ways. First, with the knowledge obtained from college, I hope to counsel with young people who are on the verge of going astray. In today's society, there are so many negative factors that influence young people. I want to help them understand the importance of setting goals and striving to become productive citizens. I also want to give them a sense of hope that with perseverance, they can become great role models for other young people.

Give Back to Your Local Area This Year Giving back to your local community is one of the most admirable and selfless things you can do. When you take the time to put your community needs above your wants, it becomes infectious and causes others to do the same. The following are some ways you can give back to your local community this year. Serve Meals at a Shelter Many non-profits don’t have enough help on any given day. When they have a feeding event, they are even more disadvantaged because they don’t have enough people to help them fix and serve meals to the individuals in need of help.
Helping Hands has helped my family in the past. Several years ago my family was struggling with income and Helping Hands was generous enough to help us pay our electric bill. I chose to volunteer at Helping Hands because I wanted to give back to the program. At the time, it seemed like there was little value in sorting piles of toys but then the manager shared with me that many children would be very happy to receive these toys for Christmas. This one comment helped me to put it all into perspective. Volunteering isn’t about me; it is about playing an active in the community. Bringing joy to families who are suffering, giving hope to the hopeless.
