I was sitting on the grass at Kemper Elementary School with four of my closest friends we were waiting patiently lock n’ loaded with water guns sitting at our sides waiting for the teachers to get outside and all of the other student's. When the rest of the teacher’s and student's got outside the student's grabbed their water guns and went to the other side of my friends and I. It was field day.
We blasted each other with our loaded green and blue water guns and were running and screaming as loud as possible around the school yard. A few hours later the buses came to take all of us I got on the bright yellow and short elementary kids home. I got on the school bus and sat next to my best friend Marissa. Both of us had to move to the front because we were jumping and climbing on the seats. The bus came to a stop and put its “Stop” sign out. Half of the bus got off at that stop, which was only about 10 minutes away from mine. Marissa got off and right before she took her last step on the ground only a few inches away.

I asked “Marissa, are you going to come over tomorrow?” “I will have to ask grandma Bonnie” she said back.
She took her last steps off. The bus then started to squeak as it was pulling off. Ten minutes later the bus stopped at the brown apartments which where my mom and I were living. I ran to apartment 37 on the second floor. As I was running, I saw that my mom wasn't home from work yet. So I decided to call her to see when she was coming home. I picked up the phone and dialed her number. It then rang. You could hear the ring, It was a soft ringing, it then stopped.
“Hello” my mom
answered I asked her,“Hi mom, I was wondering when you were gonna come home?” “I will be home shortly just 30 minutes” she said. She sounded like something was wrong, like something was picking at her. I put the phone down on the light wooden table and went to the living room. I started to watch my favorite TV shows on nickelodeon. I heard the door starting to open by the sound of the squeak it was making. Her stuff getting set down on the same table I put the phone down on. She looks at me with a straight face. “Lexi, we need to talk” she said “Is something wrong” I asked her. “Nothing’s wrong” she replied “Okay” as I was confused “I was just wondering how would you like if the two of us went to Pennsylvania for a few days” as she questioned. “Sounds fun, but only a few right” I asked “Yes, maybe” I was confused at why she said maybe, but I went along with it anyways. A few days after she asked, some friends of my mom drove us to Ignacio, CO to catch our flight. We arrived just a few hours later with the sky so dim and the fields dry as can be. We got to the hotel and ordered room service for our long drive from Cortez to Ignacio. We got to our flight the next day and I was as pale as a ghost because I was worried about flying because of all of the shows that have plane crashes. When we arrived to Pennsylvania we had an old friend of my moms come to get us. We got to her house. So bright and dull at the same time. It ended up that instead of staying there for a few days, we ended up moving. I was not proud. I missed my family and I’ve never been almost 2,000 miles away. It was like my heart broke into millions of pieces, but my mom was happy and I wanted her to be happy since the condition she was like at Cortez.
The sweat was dripping down my face as I pushed the weights off my chest. Everyone ran towards their bags after a student said there was a gun in school. Twitter was the first source that we checked just to make sure. Boom! The door slammed open as coach Ben yells “Hurry up and get out”. My heart started beating faster and faster. We didn’t know what was going on. As we were running to the gym everyone was panicking and pushing each other. I could feel the burn on my elbow but I didn’t know what it was. When we got to the gym my elbow was covered in blood. We were told to get down and stay quiet. Later on we were told a student brought a gun to school and was planning on committing suicide. That was one of many gun incidents at my high school.
My fingers were struggling to dial 9-1-1, all I could think about was the intense crying of my mom going on in the background. What was going to happen? After the few ringing tones, an operator answered. I quickly explained that I needed an ambulance immediately. The operator said paramedics would be there in a matter of minutes. Those minutes were the longest minutes of my life. After the phone call my mom asked me to help her get my grandmother out of bed. When I went into my grandma’s room I grabbed one of her arms while my mom grabbed the other, and we pulled with all of our strengths. I was shouting my grandma's name to get a reaction out of her, she just muttered a word and looked up with her soulless eyes. As we struggled to keep her standing the paramedics came through the door. They loaded her up on a stretcher and took her to the Emergency Room. That night I couldn’t sleep thinking of what was happening in the hospital.
Starting Middle School changed how I felt about school in general as I wasn’t babied anymore.
My middle school years were incredible. I went to three different schools during my middle school years. I attended McIntyre Middle School, Millbrook Middle School, and Brewbaker Middle School. All three of these schools were amazing and I did great things at each school. I would love to relive my middle school years. I believe middle school could make or break a child. Many children had problems in middle school but me on the other hand went through middle school with a breeze. I never had a problem with any class or subject in middle school. Many of the students adored me at each school I attended. It was never a problem for me to make new friends. If I could go back to middle school I would.
Two years ago I made a choice, a choice I didn't think would change my life that
When I finally found my words I asked what was going on and my mother told me that my sister was in a car accident. When we arrived at the scene all I could see was my sister’s car sideways in the middle of the road with the entire front of it smashed up towards the windshield. As I looked around I saw my sister, emerging from a tan SUV I had never seen before, running towards my parents. The ambulances began to arrive and I was in my sister’s arms when I realized that there was no other damaged car at the
During fourth and fifth grade, I was among the group of kids that were at the top of the school. All of the younger children looked up to us and copied the actions that they saw us doing. These we the last years for the fun and games for me. My work would later get more difficult since I made the transition from easy work to the more difficult. These were the last years that we had recess after lunch. We would no longer have one teacher teaching us every subject. For all of elementary school I was at Upson which is now known as Shoreview Elementary. I think that every year someone looked out for me because I was always blessed enough to have the good teachers for each particular grade. These teachers always saw potential in me and from a young age they always told me that they knew that I would do great
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
It happened on May 5, 2015, my sophomore year of high school. My day happened as usual. I got up, I went to school, and I got off the bus. It was hot that day, my back burned and dampened with sweat, caused by the hot Texas sun. I came in and threw my neon orange backpack down exhausted by the short walk from the bus stop to my back door. After getting inside, I grabbed my dog's leash and hooked it to her collar to drag her outside and walk her. We slowly made our way back inside after she finished taking her time and doing her business. I walked inside and checked the time displayed below the television and walked to the kitchen to fill the black kettle
I was in fifth grade and went to Falcon Ridge Elementary School. I loved elementary school we got to do all the cool projects, my facorite was the chain reaction prodject and I liked to hang out all day with my firends. I liked everything about it. One night I came home and my mom said
One day at Congerville grade school i was just got out of the car and i was a new student and when i was done with all my thing i went on the SeeSaw.
It was Spring of my freshman year of high school, and I was standing in front of my school, laughing and talking with one of my best friends waiting for my Mother to pick me up. I could not wait to see her and tell her how amazing my day had been. The second I saw her white Honda Pilot pull into a parking spot I raced over to see her, but my Mom was not there. Instead it was my Dad in the driver’s seat. I was confused since usually I would have gotten a text or phone call that someone else was picking me up. He obviously saw the confusion on my face and said, “Your mom is at home with your brother Zach.” I did not
It was Friday morning and I was in the 5th grade at the time. My father decided to pull both me and my brother out of school. My mother wasn’t home. She had already gone up to the hospital with my grandmother.
It was the day of Fourth of July.It was a classic day for me,I didn’t do that much but I went over to my grandmas house. My grandma asked “do you want something to eat?” “yes I’m starving,I could eat a cow right now.”I said. I just started snatched big chunks of food and stacking them on my plate. After I was done eating,I went to go play with my uncle’s daughter, Kayla.Kayla has a brother named Jonathan and my cousin’s name is Mark.We played outside, in a big grassland with lots of sticks, leaves and more.We planned on making a fort.We pretended that we were in the army. Me and Kayla were on a team and Mark and Jonathan were on a team.Me and Kayla started to snatch sticks and leaves
