I always enjoy getting to spend time with my family, but at the moment I wanted to spend every second with Cameron. When Cameron asked me if I wanted to go hunting with him, my first thought was yes. I always wanted to go hunting, and there was no one I’d rather go with than him. My mom had other plans, though. I don't usually fight with my mom, but tonight was different. She told me it was my decision to stay or to go home. My mom didn’t understand how excited I was to go hunting at the time. I realized my mistake, but there was no going back to change it. Ding! I woke up this morning to my phone ringing. I checked my phone, it was a text from Cameron, asking if I wanted to go to the JFL game with him to watch his brother play. I jumped out …show more content…
“Don’t forget to be home in time for the bonfire tonight!”, my mom shouted, as I ran out the door. When we got to the game, we met up with his parents and his cousin Bree. The boys won their game, still leading an undefeated season. His family and I went to Dairy Queen to eat lunch. After we got done eating, we headed back to his house. We all sat in his living room and watched TV for a little while. Then he asked me if I wanted to go hunting with him. I immediately pulled out my phone and texted my mom and asked. She reminded me of the bonfire we had planned, but I kept asking if I could just stay at Cameron’s house. I really wanted to go hunting, it was something I have never done before. She told me it was my choice if I wanted to stay there, but if I did I would be grounded. I decided to stay and go hunting. We started to get ready, I had to wear his hunting clothes, which seemed like 5 sizes too big. If anyone saw me they would have said I stuck out like a sore thumb. We packed everything we needed, drinks, handwarmers, the deer call. We hopped on the four wheeler and then we left. He drove into the …show more content…
Everyone from the bonfire was still there. I thought that it was just going to be my family, but there was other people too. I was afraid of getting yelled at so I didn’t get out of his truck. I stayed in his truck for what seemed like just a few minutes, but turned out to be around 20 minutes. I realized I had to get out at some point. So I gathered my things together and got out. I saw my mom start walking towards the driveway, I heard her yell “Samantha, get over here!”. “Okay mom!” I yelled back. I gave Cameron a hug, and then walked over to my mom. She started yelling at me, she told me I was grounded, and she made me give her my phone. I wasn’t allowed to hang out with Cameron for a week and I didn’t get my phone back till the next day. I wasn’t to worried about my not having my phone since it was already 10PM and I was going to go to bed soon, and if I really wanted to I could have gotten on my Ipod or laptop. I see Cameron everyday at school, and we never hung out on weekdays. My punishment wasn’t suited for me. Not long after that I changed into my pajamas. My mom told me I had to sit outside with everyone else. All I really wanted to do was go to sleep. It felt like hours before everyone finally left. My mom told me I had to sit outside with my family, I ended up falling asleep in the lawn chair beside the fire. About ten minutes later my mom woke me back up and told me I had to help clean up. I

I rushed out to the truck as the horn blared. I threw my things into the truck and we went off towards the woods. I had to talk to Kevin about where the deer come from when i am sitting in the stand. He told me everything I needed to know about the place less than 10 minutes in the hot and humid truck. Well let's go back to see what led to this.
It was the middle of October, and it was finally time for my long awaited moose hunt. I have waited ever since I was a little girl for this opportunity, and it was finally here. So, my father and I packed up our stuff and left the warmth of Phoenix. We were leaving the "Valley of the Sun" and headed for a place called Wyoming. After two days and fourteen long hours of driving, we made it to our hunting unit.
It was the Monday before Thanksgiving. I was out of work at the time so I got up around nine o’clock. I wasn’t feeling well, like I had eaten something that just was not agreeing with me. So I rolled out of bed and went downstairs. My girlfriend and her mom were at the kitchen table working on decorations for the party they were hosting for the holiday.
"When done under the rules of good sportsmanship, duck hunting is a culmination of art, skill, and scientific endeavor. It is also an act of love, for who loves the birds more than the hunter." --Bob Hinman, The Duck Hunter's Handbook, 1974. This quote, I believe applies to all kinds of hunting. This was not clear to me, however, until I was around thirteen years old. I am sure glad that it is now, though.
I never thought that deer hunting would deeply affect my life. Hunting in my family is as normal as turkey on Thanksgiving. Therefore, my dad did not ask me to go hunting with him; he automatically assumed that I would enjoy going deer hunting. I was seven years old when we sat out on our hunting adventure, but I shot my first hunting rifle at the age of six. Nevertheless, I was as prepared as a seven year old could be.
It was a chilly, wind gusting day. Sitting in the dark waiting for the thrill of a lifetime to arrive. I can hear something crunching the leaves, walking right down the steep hillside. All I can think about is the deer that could be heading my way. That was the moment before the big buck, it was exhilarating to me because of my family tradition, the thrill of the hunt, and the reward I was about to take.
The first time I ever shot a deer was back in 2011. I was in 5th grade. This was not the first time I had gone out hunting, just the first time I ever went out to shoot a deer. It was a fairly warm fall day and my mom took me out with her to the new hunting shack my dad just built. It is a very sturdy shack made with wood that blends into the trees around it. It sits in our tree line viewing our hay field with woods all around the field. The smell of fall, decaying leaves dying grass hung in the air heavily. My mom told me to not expect to shoot anything my first time out. We waited out for a few hours before we started to see anything but everything we saw was too far away to get a shot at. We waited probably another half
I can remember the time that I shot my first deer like it was yesterday. I have never really been a big deer hunter until this past season. My dad had left me at our farm all by myself and he was going to come later. I got in the woods around 3:00 to 3:30. I sat it the stand for about a while and it was getting cold. I was wishing that I had brought my 22 rifle because I saw about 6 squirrels. I did not think that I was going to see a deer but I was wrong. Before the deer came along one of the squirrels ran up my tree stand and I could have probably kicked it if I wanted. It was getting dark when I heard my dad shoot. I waited a little bit longer and then I saw three doe. I wanted to shoot a buck so I let them pass. Then I knew that I probably
¨How are you feeling?” My dad asked. We were sitting at the dining table in front of the crackling hot fire having our annual opening morning breakfast, the breakfast which consisted of toast made over the fire and a cup of steaming coffee. While munching on some toast and sipping our coffee, the family gathered around the table sharing their favorite hunting stories whether they were recent as in last year success or stories of when my grandpa shot his very first deer. As my eyes lit up with that ¨glow¨ I responded, ¨I am in the zone.¨ He nodded.
Seth was a junior that year and I do not remember much from that time other than seeing him. We never really talked or associated with one another. Then, in February of 2014, we started conversing through the app Snapchat. I knew from the beginning that I really liked him. The following June, I sent him a picture of a rainbow bracelet, which led to us revealing our secrets to one another. We began talking almost everyday and quickly became more than friends. A week after we started talking we went on our first date to a hike in Norris. The hike was so wonderful. I had not had that much fun in a long time. After that magical day in Norris, we began to hang out more and more. Without a doubt, it was the best summer of my
Friday Blake and I rode to the hunting club. Blake’s dad has already brought his
Immediately, as my dad and I was walking to the deer stand, my thoughts were that this hunt already felt like any other night hunt I had ever been on. My dad and I together chose which stand we would hunt from the choices on the board. We arrived at the box stand, which was fifteen feet tall, then we climbed in and got comfortable. In the meantime, we were looking around to find any sign of a deer. Meanwhile, as we were sitting quietly in the stand, we suddenly heard something. We could tell that the noise was something running through the trees extremely fast! Suddenly, there she was, a doe, creeping out from the bushes. At that moment, I was only able to see her head. I was getting so nervous, and I didn 't know what to do; however, my dad told me to stay calm and breathe. As she was walking into the field, stopping along the way to eat, I prepared my gun in order to shoot. My dad told me to take the shot whenever I was ready, so within the next couple of seconds I pulled the trigger. BOOM! She’s down! I had shot her; however, I knew I hit her, but she ran
I responded with “cuz”. That really made her mad and she ordered me to clean my room today or I would get grounded (even though I knew she wouldn't really.) My room wasn't even as dirty as it could've been. She always nags and nags about things that don't really matter, and its so, so annoying. Being the basic teenager I am, I argued about how my room isn't any of her business.
Before I left his house I asked him if he had wanted a ride to graduation, due to the fact he was in a car accident four days prior and the only vehicle he had at the moment was his motorcycle. He responded with a polite, "Nah." That's when I knew he wanted to take his bike. When I got home I quickly got ready, I ironed my cap and gown, did my make-up and hair, and made my last phone call to Andrew. I called him right before I left and asked him if he was sure he did not want a ride.
