Majority of the people around Mr. Simonet have a hard time looking eye to eye with him. Mr. Simonet appears to have a bad scarred face. Nobody knew how he got the scares because he was never open about it and never talked about it. Whenever people stared at him or made remarks about his scared he was distance and closed off. Until one night when Arlene and Mr. Simonet got into a fight due to his discomfort. He told Arlene “You don’t see me, my life is familiar, my life is manageable, I have a thing I do every day, it’s all I’ve ever known and it’s a routine, and as long as I have that I’m ok.” As the fight continues, Arlene replied back to him, encouraging him “You look good to me.” Arlene changed Mr. Simonet’s comfort and cognitive behavior

“Wilson,” I called out, receiving no response. “Wilson?” He stayed slumped in the chair, eyes casted on the ground, refusing to make eye contact or any other sign of acknowledgement. “Wilson!” I yelled, causing him to flinch, his eyes finally meeting mine. There was sadness clear as day in his eyes, but no, he did not deserve to be sad. He did not have any reason. He didn’t love her. He couldn’t provide for her. Not like I could- or would.
...nd personal story that shows the pitiful characters of Arpi and Connie that are victims of bullying at school. Then she concludes the story with a “perhasping” image of Connie and her mother at 7-Eleven transporting the readers from a classroom setting of kids bullied in front of an absentminded teacher to a sad picture in front of a store window. Considering the future, Murphy encourages the reader to evaluate their stand on cruelty and to make that difference not treat one another different. Murphy through rhetorical and tonal elements of pathos, logos, and diction expresses that cruelty in any form is wrong no matter how one tries to justify it. Doing bad for good is never right.
When Gladney was out in public one of his colleagues ran into him and saw him without his robe and thick glasses. He points out to Gladney that he doesn’t like as intimidating anymore, he actually looks harmless and not distinctive at all. The identity that he made u...
I felt that a tremendous burden had been lifted from my shoulders and put on hers: now Mutti was again responsible for me…Until then, I had been responsible for my own life, for my survival; I could not afford to depend on anyone but myself; I had to think and act like a grown-up and be constantly on the alert against all possible dangers. But once I was back in her arms, I could be a child again, le...
However, her classmate Raymond Bolting asks to have a dance with her. “Nobody told him to, he did not have to, was it possible, could I believe it?” (11) This represents that the narrator feels really surprised and have more confident to herself. Raymond takes the narrator home and kisses her which makes her feel happy and makes her life “possible” which means to be more confident. The narrator comes home with a happy mood which does not disappoint her mother. However, the narrator says, “I had almost failed it, and would be like to failed it.” (12) which means she does not be confident enough to herself. The narrator does not know whether Raymond is going to hang out with her again, or not. Although she becomes more confident, she can not promise that she will be confident enough every time. Thus, she failed to change which means to be confident enough to
This story, written by Sherman Alexie, is about a young man named Victor who is dealing with some life changes. It is clear to see that how he reacts stems from experiences as an adolescent. For instance, when he heard about the death of his father in Phoenix Arizona his actions displayed a non-caring approach. His urgency to travel to Arizona was not out of concern, love or care for his father, but to claim what was left behind by his father’s estate. This exhibited his greed and self-centered attitude.
Mr. Rodriguez is dealing with 5th graders; sometimes the students don’t want to listen, and they want to be moving all the time. While I continued to observe his class he is usually a nice man. Mr. Rodriguez doesn’t scream, that’s how he talks, because even when I asked him a question he “screamed at me”, he has a loud voice, and can give a bad impression. But with time, you will notice he has a big heart, and he is very nice.
The theme of friendship can change one’s views on the human dignity of another person because the relationship with them can change how they are seen and treated. The theme of friendship is displayed throughout the novel and demonstrates human dignity in Max and Liesel’s friendship, hers and Rudy and Liesel’s relationship with the gang of children who stole. This is believed, because of Liesel's thoughts on how Germans treat the Jews like Max, Rudy’s perspective of Liesel unlike Liesel’s teacher, and she and the group of children being there for each other. Human dignity can be shown in many friendships because a strong relationship with someone can change how they are seen, treated and how one relates to them.
Over the course of about six months my sister’s health began to rapidly deteriorate to the point where she began to look like a walking corpse. I was only in sixth grade and never fully understood the severity of her unknown illness. I never thought that her scraggly brown hair, exposed ribs, and extensive bed rest was becoming a massive problem, I just thought she was losing weight and needed to eat more. My family finally had and answer during early March 2013.
Change. Change is a simple word but its action can pack a big punch. Looking back on to when I was young I have faint blurred memories of my childhood.
With great privilege and honor, I speak of a faithful servant to God and to man, Mr. Delton York. Mr. York and I met eight-months-ago, at the doctoral college, at Grand Canyon University. At first glance, I thought, “This man is a man of high caliber.” Without him uttering a word, I took heed to his professional appearance, mannerisms, and demeanor—fortunately, I could not compare him to an ordinary man. Appearance alone, he exuded extraordinary qualities. Other men were present, but they were imitations of his style.
A major event that has changed me as a person is my friends. I have a lot of friends and some of them I am very close with. It wasn't always like this though I used to only have one best friend and his name was drake. I was unable to make new friends around 5th and 6th grade because I was too shy and not comfortable. Now In my junior year in high school, I feel like I have never been so involved with my friends and have so many to hang out with.
For an 18 year old person I have been through a lot for my age, there have been many ups and downs that I’ve had to struggle through. There is one instance in particular that I can remember that helped shape me culturally to who I am today. In middle school we had a soccer team, and soccer for me is life, but I had one problem I was a slow player because I was fat and not really athletic. In sixth grade I tried out and I did not make it, seventh grade I tried out again still did not make it. Many parents and kids would point out that I was not good enough for the team and that I was fat (most people never really pointed it out but I knew they thought that). This event of not making the middle school soccer team for two years in a row really
In the spring of 2013, my family and I moved from Muskego, Wisconsin to Greensboro, North Carolina. This move across half the country has forever changed my life. This move has allowed me to meet people I would otherwise have never met, and those of who have had a great influence over me. Leaving behind the place I knew, and all of my friends had saddened me. However, I have been able to keep in touch with my friends through the Internet, so that part wasn’t as bad. The scariest part was getting used to a new state that was in a different part of the country, and has a bigger population. The cultural difference were also something that I needed to adjust to, as well as new living conditions. Besides the cultural difference, there was the difference
