On Sunday, November 12th, 2017 I thought church was going to be a normal day. God had a plan for me, and he decided that this day would change my life forever. Everything was going like a normal church day would. Me and my family arrived at the church as the ten o’clock service ended. I went into the sanctuary and sat down. When I sat down in the Embrace Church that day, it would change my life forever. I sat in the small, but comfortable sanctuary. I looked at my phone, and patiently waited for the service to begin. I didn’t know what the message was going to be that day. Multiple people flocked into the sanctuary, ready to worship the word of God. Once the church was filled up and the clock on the screen hit triple zero’s. It was time to …show more content…
As we sat, the video board turned on. Our pastor, Adam Weber, showed up on the screen wearing one of his awesome outfits. He was going to preach the message that day. Adam Weber is very involved with the church and is a God oriented man. This wasn’t any ordinary message. The message was called “Heart of Embrace”. The message is talked about where the church is at right now and where they want it to be. Embrace wants us to strive and reach out to other people. Telling others about worshiping, will lead them to walk alongside Jesus. I was sitting in my chair thinking, “This is amazing, how can I contribute to this.” I was totally daydreaming at this point and thought of ways for people to hear about Jesus. I thought about what I have done at the Church so far and the people in it. The first thing that came to mind was my youth group leader, Jaden. Jaden had changed my life in so many ways. He had shown me how God works in tremendous ways, leading others to different paths in their life. I inspire him, and he motivated me to learn more and more each day about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ever since I had met him, he has made a difference in my life. It isn’t himself though. It is the fact that God is so involved in his life. I thought maybe I should be a youth group leader and show others the word of God, just like Jaden had for me! From that moment on, I knew I was going to attend college with …show more content…
I was ready to learn more about going into college and what it was like for Jaden to major in Youth Ministry. First, me and Jaden just chatted and talked about how school, basketball, and the family was doing. He asked me how I came up with the idea of wanting to spread the word of God through Youth Ministry. I told him that I wanted to do what he had done for me. I want to be able to connect with others through the word of God and present to others the journey God has taken me on. I want to be able to tell my friends I am very involved with Jesus Christ. He then considered where I want to attend my post secondary school at. I told him that I have been looking at two schools mainly because of soccer and basketball. The two schools are Mount Marty College and Northwestern College. Jaden actually went to Northwestern for about a year because he got recruited to play basketball there. He also was wanting to be physical education teacher. He eventually left because he didn’t enjoy the campus and the limited things to do with extra time. That led him to go to the University of Sioux Falls to learn, put more of his faith in God, and change his major to Youth Ministry. This really hit me in the face. It made me think about what I want to do after college because basketball and soccer won’t be around forever. I was only looking at what college I was going to attend for the sports aspect of it. I had been thinking more in the future and the future is alongside

“Coastal Carolina is too far away for you to come home when you have the chance.” Kaylee (my Girlfriend at the time) said to me in my first car as we talked about college choices. I told her about my acceptance to Coastal Carolina University I received from Mrs. Emmons (personal guidance counselor in high school) during a school day, early February. Kaylee’s words made me start a to question myself; “What other colleges can I choose?”. I came home and sat down with my parents in the living room with my Coastal Carolina acceptance letter in my hand and they were proud of me. I asked my parents the same question I asked myself earlier that day “What other colleges can I choose from?”. When
Venturing inside, we all noticed two things very quickly: we were at once wearing entirely too much clothing to be comfortable in the sweltering heat, and entirely too little to fit in with the rest of the congregants assembled. And yet we were welcomed with open arms. We had arrived, the Reverend Rogers L. Pruitt emphasized as we filed into the sanctuary, on a very special day. As he distributed bulletins and hearty handshakes to the rest of the group, I noticed that the front of mine read "Fragment Day." As I looked around the modest sanctuary, I wondered what the service had in store for us.

After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
I spent every spring and summer in middle school doing mission work and community service. I loved the opportunity that it gave me to build relationships and share my beliefs with people I didn’t know. Little did I know that this would pave the way for a life-changing experience that I would encounter one day. Each spring my church would host a missionary event called “The Ignite Project.” I felt an urge to join the group, recognizing that it was a calling to profess my faith in Jesus. These mission trips helped me to go out
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
I spent much of my high school career researching colleges and universities. My mom and I traveled to well over 10 different colleges and universities in 4 different states trying to find the “perfect” school for me. By the end of my junior year of high school I had finally found the ideal school, or so I thought. The school was small, environmentally friendly, new, beautiful, diverse, and just happened to be located 1,000 miles away from home. Everyone at my small high school knew that I was going away to school and it was a huge deal because the majority of my classmates were going to in state schools. I traveled to the school multiple times for orientations, to meet my roommates, and to make sure it was the “perfect” school for me. Early May of my senior year of high school, right before graduation, I woke up with a feeling in my gut that this
One can draw many illustrations from this Psalm and see the importance of close relationships between pastors and congregants in the modern day Church. The researcher will build on the biblical and theological aspects to show how OGBC can experience a healthy pastoral transition and strengthen relationships between their new pastor and the congregation. It was magnificent. The first thing to catch my eye was a monstrous chandelier that hung from the 50 foot ceiling. It was awe inspiring. As my eyes surveyed the room, it was hard to miss the antique maple pews that provided seats for approximately 300 people. Plush emerald green carpet was the grounding to the room. It's path led directly up to the stage which was home to a variety of items. The band, pulpit, arid baptismal were the most obvious. Above the stage was a huge dome, it was colored in shades of blue, mauve, white, and several other soft accents. A bright light was right in the center of its point. Our gazing was soon interrupted when the official greeter returned. This time she was quick and to the point. She collected our cards and informed us that service was about to begin. Within a matter of minutes, a middle-aged man stepped up to the pulpit and asked us to stand.
He simply looked at me and said that he loved serving the kids because they are the unfortunate ones. I have learned what it means to serve and what it means to be content and trust God. I have learned what it means to be grateful, even through the hard times. My relationship with God has really improved since my experience in Tecate, and I will be forever grateful for that door that God opened in my life. Over the trip, I had the pleasure of living among and working with the men and women of the orphanage.
By allowing Christ to work through me, I had tried to also to imitate Christ's example. Personally, the part that I thought was the most satisfying and enjoyable to see was when all of the children left with their baskets filled with candy and smiles on their faces. It was more than just taking home a basket of candy. It was about spending time with the church community and family.
His church is a “good sized” suburban church that has been around for 295 years. He describes the parishioners as having a “broad tent” of theological views. This congregation is open to new ideas and re-visiting the old. They appear to be carrying out intentional missional work in their community
The purpose of this paper is to discuss a service that I got to attend that was different from my own religious tradition. I decided to go with my chosen topic because to be honest I had never experienced or thought to experience a different type of church service other than the one I grew up in. I grew up in a Christian home and attended a non-denominational Christian church on a regular basis. I just never felt the need to experience something that was different. So I decided to attend a mass at a Catholic church. I had been to weddings in a Catholic church and even funerals with a Catholic involvement but not an actual mass.
...ry service were beautiful. Everyone that spoke had something nice to say and somehow I found enough strength in my self to get up and read prayer that his parents had asked me to read.
