In the cool, crisp autumn air, my childhood was woven with the memories of football; it was its excitement, its comradery, and its intensity that shaped the cycle of each of my days. From the moment I could grasp football, my world became a tapestry of practices, games, and bonding moments with my father and brother. I will forever remember and cherish the memories of rooting for my family's favorite football team, the New York Giants, while enjoying pizza and nachos with everyone at my grandparents house. Picture a skinny, fourth-grade kid, adorned in a football jersey that was slightly too large, with a smile that stretched from ear to ear, ready to take on anything. That was me before the first game of the football season, against Apalachin, one of the toughest teams at the time. I, positioned as the …show more content…
This time, the decision was clear—a turning point in my athletic interests and pursuits. Football, once the heartbeat of my existence, is now left in my past, only to be stored in my memories. A new chapter began, and with it, an exploration of activities beyond the football field. As my time playing football faded, I gained interest in a blend of numerous new activities. Tennis, a far less physical sport than football, became my new sport of choice to challenge myself at and find joy in. My father supported my new change in hobby and helped me practice by taking me to the tennis courts when he was done with work. I discovered that I enjoyed playing tennis with him just as much as I cherished playing football with him. After hearing the news that I changed my sport from football to tennis, my grandmother gave a sigh of relief because she was worried about my safety when I played football. She supported me so much that she bought me a membership to the Binghamton Tennis Center and offered to drive me there to play tennis during the cold winter
American Football is a huge spectator sport where offensive and defensive players will use teamwork and perseverance to try and score more points than their opponent. Football is highly respected in America, where boys will try and pursue the dream of playing in the NFL (National Football Association) someday; but if you look at an average neighborhood, you will find that kids and adults of all ages love to go out and throw around the pigskin. (Lerner and Lerner 275). One thing Americans will take pride in is the college and NFL football teams they root for. People sit down with a beer and talk hours upon hours of football and two individuals can get in a heated discussion in the local sports store of whose sports team is better. Surprisingly enough, one will find the most passionate football players at the high school level. Most boys will start their football career as a young child in football programs such as Pop Warner to get a foothold and to get those involved in teamwork and friendships. These programs are usually the start to someone falling in love with the sport and making it a career choice eight years later. Football is one of America’s favorite sports. When fall season comes around, people across America are placing bets, finding out where that new sports bar is, and buying wide screen T.V’s to watch NFL on Sundays. After their team plays, they will go out and reminisce what happened that Sunday. While thousands of fans are still pumped from the NFL games they watched; small towns across America are getting ready to shut down their shops and restaurants to have the chance to make it to the local high schools football game. Ray Glier, a reporter for the New York Times, writes about football in the small town of Appala...
Everyone feels the need to belong. Some people find the answer to fulfill that need in sports. In the United States, the go-to sport is football. Following one’s hometown team or childhood NFL team through the regular season, playoffs, and hopefully, the Super Bowl has become a staple for today’s culture. Whether or not their favorite team makes it to the big Super Bowl game, they still find themselves cheering on one of the teams competing. T...
We were defeated. The game hadn’t even begun but I could see the look of defeat in my teammate’s eyes. Noticing it as well, Coach Johnson huddled us up. “Guys, we can do this,” he said. “What’s the one thing we have that they don’t?” Looking around at each other, we were dumbfounded. The Henderson High Eagles had everything. They had the most experienced coaches, the biggest and fastest players, and the most passionate fans, what were they missing? “Heart,” said coach. With that, Coach Johnson pushed us out to the coin toss to start the game. What coach just said was pointless in my mind. I mean, he’s been here for eight years and has never had a winning season. He’s just an old guy with a passion ...

Growing up, from the time I started my first day of class until walking across my hometowns football field to receive my diploma I never had thought that I let something define the person that I have become today. However, being presented with this essay I have come to the realization that football has defined me as a person. I don’t mean to say that the sport has had this much of an impact on me, I’d rather like to think that the memories associated with the sport has made an everlasting impact on my life.
Many of the principles of Gilead are based on Old Testament beliefs. Discuss Atwoods use of biblical allusions and their political significance in the novel.
In the article “How I Learned to Love Football,” Felisa Rogers, a freelance writer, details the transformation from going from a high school student, who did not care about football, to an adult who now somewhat understands football and has formed numerous opinions about it. Rogers attributes the surprising conversion of the fact that her husband was such a big Green Bay Packers fan, explaining that because of her love for him she saw numerous of things that brought him happiness and comfort.
The smell of breakfast cooking awakened me the day I would go to my first Packers game. It was a cool, overcast October morning when my Father and I would make the drive from Davenport, Iowa to Green Bay, Wisconsin to watch our beloved Packers play the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings had a familiar player on their roster, Brett Farve, who would end up playing his final game in Lambaeau Field that night. The Packers were moving on from the Farve era, finding talent in their young quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers would lead the Packers to a Super Bowl win later that season. With the sound of the radio airing the pregame show, my Father and I were on the road at last. The four-hour drive felt more like six, as my legs felt increasingly sorer
Football is more than just a game. It is a lifestyle. I joined my high school football team as a freshman and continued to play until I sustained an injury to my knee during my sophomore year. Ever sense I played the game I found the history of football very interesting. Sense its conception in the 1820’s, football has been a source of entertainment and physical competition. From the iron grid to the modern turf field, football has taught young men key values and responsibilities. It has had a profound affect on advertising and even television itself. It is also played in almost every university to this day. To me football is more of a mental sport than physical. In this essay, I will demonstrate my expertise of football to illustrate my ability to help others understand the history of the game.

The popularity of pro football has jumped in recent years compared to other sports in the States, such as pro basketball and major league baseball. During my time as a kid I always thought that being in the NFL was the most amazing thing. But as time has caught up with me certain things have made me wonder if it’s worth it. Life as a fan includes certain aspects such as playing fantasy football, enjoying video games, and gambling. Players in the NFL make millions, but they also endure certain life problems, which we, as fans, don’t see, to include concussions, financial problems, and quality of life issues after football. In this essay I will give you examples of why football is a great thing for me and you and a hardship for the league and its players .
Tennis has been a major part of my life and still continues to be a major factor in my life. Tennis was the highlight of my time during high school, I met so many new people, made so many friends, and had so much fun. Tennis has been a major source of joy for me ever since I started playing. The sport has altered my friend groups, brought joy to me, and altered my life path. A big reason why I picked to go to Otterbein was tennis, if I wasn’t going to play tennis then who knows where I might have gone to college. In college tennis has built my friend groups and shaped who I
Even though football players have a variety of problems going on while they play football, they never forget the joy of the game or the success that playing football has brought them. The three life changing events that are mentioned in this essay are just the beginnings of the lives of football players. While playing the game football in college or professionally, they all have an exciting career to pursue but can be very dangerous at the same time. The sport football is the major sport that majority want to pursue a career in, and in the end many of those pursue their dreams with no stress or
In the 2012-2013 school year, 14,048 U.S. high schools fielded teams to play 11-man per side American tackle football and it is still growing in the United States, and I was apart of that statistic. I was a freshman going into high school for the first time, everything was new to me except one thing “Football”. Football is my favorite sport, there is nothing like it. I played almost every sport but eventually quit everything else because I fell in love with the atmosphere of football and played every year since I was six years old. I couldn’t wait to finally play in high school and get to play on the “G” (which was the football stadium).
I started to play tennis when I was a little boy, and I did not think about a tennis career and about reaching big goals in my future. I went through difficulties and I had determination to reach these goals. It was hard to leave my family and to move to another city and play tennis because practice was a hard sport, a hard practice, and a hard life. This part of my life was significant for me and for my father because I did not give up during my hard period when I had trouble with tennis, and when I came to study in Austin Peay State University. I can remember now everything that happened during my first practice with my father when I was six-years-old child.
