B is for Basketball
Basketball is one of my favorite sports for many reasons. I have been playing basketball since I was 4 years old, and I was playing at the YMCA. I remember playing with small basketballs and hoops that were about 6 feet tall. I remember my dad cheering me on and I thought I was Dash from “The Incredibles”. I kept playing basketball for 8 more years and I have gotten a lot better. Basketball competitively was a challenge, but it only helped me get better and I was able to be one of the better people on my team. The first competitive team I played on was called the “Fullerton Express” I thought it was pretty legit. We had our warm up jerseys and nice basketballs we would practice indoors. I had a really fun time in the first
I have been playing high school basketball as a Lady Hornet since my freshman year, and I firmly believe that I have given tremendous effort into being the most valuable player that I can be. Ever since I was a child, I have had an immense passion for the game of basketball. My mother played collegiate basketball at William Carey University, so all throughout my childhood, she was my main inspiration to play. I will be forever indebted to her for pushing me to play the fantastic sport of basketball because I have no idea who I would be without it. While playing this sport for almost thirteen years, I have learned many valuable lessons along the way that have influenced the way I live out my life.
Basketball is a big part of my life, one year ago in tournament final game two of our best players were hurt and the team was relying on me. With the time winding down on the clock we were down 8 points. Somehow I got our deficit down to two points with 30 seconds left, after an intense defensive stop 10 seconds remained on the clock; our coach called a timeout. A play was drawn up for me to take the shot. Mitchell inbounded the ball to me as I came off of a screen, I had an some-what wide open shot, I took the shot, you could hear the crowd go silent as the ball left my hand and headed towards the basketball. It felt like everything was going slow motion, the ball was getting closer and closer to the hoop and I…….missed it. The buzzer sounded
As my deadline got closer and closer, my decision started to become clearer. After weeks of thinking, I had finally decided what I wanted to do. Basketball. It was my outlet, my way to get noticed in society. It would help me in the long run and have a great impact on me and my families lives. Of course, it would take a lot of hard work and dedication, but I was willing to accept the challenge and start a new career.
Although I have not considered myself an outsider in many circumstances, I can think of some certain situations where I have felt different or left out in some way. Many times going to a new school or joining a new sports team causes you to feel a little overwhelmed. Taking on so many new things can lead you to feel quite out of place at times. When I decided to join the basketball team my freshman year of high school this was exactly the case. I had just began my freshman year which, is enough stress and struggle as it is. Everyone is just trying to keep up and learn to fit in their freshman year, which in itself, can be very challenging at times. To top that, I decided to join the basketball team. Although none of my friends were playing, I decided to step out and try something new.
Basketball is another great sport that I played. Basketball is the sport that my dad also played so he can teach me more about this. This is also why he gives me a hard time sometimes. I know he is just trying to help me get better. My most memorable game in basketball was against Dover I scored 16 points and guarded their best player pretty good.
It was 5 years ago, my eighth-grade year, I was scared and nervous about being the youngest girl on the high school basketball team. I had played basketball since I was in first grade and played on competitive teams with older girls but nothing had prepared me for what I was walking into. We started our first day of practice at 6:30 a.m. on a chilly October morning. Coach Gray sat us down before practice and went over all the many rules he had set for our team. After hearing all these rules and consequences I did not even want to breathe wrong around him. I was so scared, but little did I know that this was the start of something that would change my life for forever.
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
Nonathletic people see basketball as a hobby. Some see it as running after a ball back and ford in a court. For me basketball is more than just hoops and a ball. Basketball became a big part of my life when I stared playing at a very young age. The only reason I played was because my dad was a big fanatic of basketball.
My Basketball Journey Over the course of an exciting three-day-long basketball tournament, known as, The Colorado Springs MAYB Tournament, I learned the importance of teamwork and not giving up. The day had finally arrived when my basketball team would travel to Denver, Colorado for our most competitive basketball tournament yet. I couldn't wait to go to my first out of state tournament with my new team. We had been practicing very hard every day leading up to the tournament weekend, preparing for the tough competition that was waiting for us in Colorado.
I have always enjoyed playing basketball growing up. I loved the sport from the first time I stepped on the court. I loved the teamwork and the camaraderie. I’ve played basketball in just about every setting. I’ve played for fun, recreationally, competitively and most important to me, in high school.
What is a passion, a passion is something you enjoy so much that you have to do it all the time. So what is my passion? I guess my passion would be playing basketball because I have been doing It all my life and just enjoyed It so much that I do It all the time. Basketball Is a sport where there Is two teams and noe team Is shooting on one end and the other Is shooting on the other end. Both teams are trying to defend the basket that the other team is trying to shoot at.
Basketball is my favorite sport. When I was a little kid, basketball was my favorite because I thought it was fun. Now basketball will always be my favorite sport because it changed my life. In high school I was the starting power forward of our basketball team.
Basketball is one of the interesting sports I have always wanted to engage myself; even as a little child. It was a dream come true when I started playing basketball in my high school. Moreover, I was very good in it, and I became the team leader. Of course, I enjoyed every bite of the time I spent playing basketball.
My Story On a cold day in March 2013, I stepped foot onto the arena floor at Mizzou with one goal on my mind: a state championship. I was more nervous than I had ever been before. As the game started, my nerves eased and I let loose and played the game I loved most, basketball. As the buzzer sounded, the crowd went wild, my teammates formed into a group hug, smiling because our hard work had finally paid off, we were state champions.
Playing sports has always been something that I enjoy, even since I was little. Going outside and playing sports was always fun and enjoyable. When I was in fifth grade, I decided to join a basketball team. The things that I love about basketball are how competitive it is, how your mindset changes during a game, and the skills that are learned while playing. I enjoyed knowing that I could improve my skills just by practicing outside in my front yard because I loved practicing.
