I always passed by it on the freeway feeling curious as to what it was about. There was a big sign in front of the place that had huge red letters reading “Bass Pro Shop”, with a yellow background and a big fish. What stood out to me every time I saw it, was right under the store sign was an even bigger sign that read in huge letters “Outdoor World.” Every time I passed by, there was always a multitude of cars in the parking lot, which made me assume it was probably a cool place to go to visit, so one day I decided to go to the place and I remember getting out of my car and feeling mesmerized as to how big it was. I remember smelling food from the restaurant that was inside of it and seeing all types of commercial boats around the place. Bass Pro Shop to me looked like an enormous cabin. …show more content…
When he got back home, he started his own fishing business in his dad’s liquor store which later became a popular stopping place for local and out-of-state fishermen on their way to lakes. A lot of people got interested in Johnny’s tackle, so to meet the demand, he decided to print and mail out his own catalog. In 1978, Johnny expanded Bass Pro Shop by introducing the first professionally rigged boat, motor and trailer fish-ready package which would later on revolutionize the marine industry. The Bass Tracker boat “package” revolutionized the marine industry. The Lafayette Club on beautiful Lake Minnetonka was first built in 1882. It was known as the nicest place in town and it had 300 guest rooms. Everyone wanted to go there but only the rich could afford to stay there. In 1897 it was burned down in a fire and Mr. Hill, the owner, then decided to build a new one. This beautiful hotel on the lake was made out of wood and sadly, 20 years later, it burned down again! Again, a new one was built because the property it was on was too beautiful to stay empty. By 1925 the brand new club was built to last and made with concrete. It is still there today.
The stories of each fish flow together as each story shows how humans have pushed to gain more control over the ocean and the delicious animals that swim in it’s depths. Greenberg starts in the free-flowing rivers where salmon are commonly found. It is there that early humans of the Northern Hemisphere most likely began their infatuation with fish. Greenberg puts it as, “It(salmon) is representative of the first wave of human exploitation..” (170) Once Europeans learned to fish, they had the ability to fish in shallow ocean water which is where sea bass are usually found. Later, fishermen s...

I can’t touch music, but it touches me. I cannot exist without it. Music surrounds me and envelops me. The music isn’t just background noise, it has power. The lyrics beat and intensity can fill me with angst, sadden me, pump me up and help me relax. Music is life and it has power. It helps me delve deep into my personality and individuality and has helped me discover a more introspective side of myself. However, it wasn’t always like this.
In the early 1900s people from Italy started to arrive on ship. They first arrived in Detroit, Michigan and later immigrated to Gloucester, to fish like they did back in the old country. Children, as young as ten years old went fishing to make a living for their family. When they first came the fishing industry was booming. There was no limit to how long you could fish or how much you could catch. Many men went fishing for weeks at a time. When Italian fishermen came upon the Atlantic off what is now Cape Cod, the waters churned with schools of fish. When they came nearly 800 of them in Boston and Gloucester combined became fishermen. In New England, cod was king. Enriched by a West Indies trade of fish for molasses, boat owners were referred to as the "codfish aristocracy. Sadly in the late 1990s the fishing industry went downhill and changed for the worst. (.)
In 1977 we introduced the first fish ready complete boat motor and trailer package by the name of Bass Tracker. Our company has continued to grow constantly and plans
On Friday, April 14, I decided to go to BlueWhale jazz club in Little Tokyo, Downtown LA, which had a Jazz concert under the title “Anthony Fund featuring George Garzone”. I decided to google who is Anthony Fung who was a brilliant young drummer who was the same age as me, 23, I was very intrigued to attend. when I arrived at the Jazz Club the place was surprisingly packed. Me and my friends who I dragged along had to stand up for a while. the band has not yet started, there was only the drummer entertaining the audience. it seemed that Fung plays there often and he is quite popular. I scanned the audience to see what kind of people are there. It was my first time to attend a jazz concert, and since the beginning
Early in the year, its Northern Division designed a special retail display box in conjunction with the Thompson Division, which was equipped to make the box. Thompson, as one of Birch’s four producing divisions converted paperboard output into corrugated boxes. It also printed and colored the outside surface of the boxes. Birch’s Southern Division will supply the lineboard and corrugating medium to Thompson Division in the event the latter got the order from Northern.
My love for music has kept me afloat through many tribulations throughout my life. When I was younger I was fascinated with the concept of music theory. This love led me to play recorder, piano, and now guitar. I love the freedom that music allows one when composing an original piece. There are so many genres and aspects of music to choose that one can never be bored. With my music, I feel I am able to paint a vivid story of my life. As the notes carry my thoughts and passions, I am able to share my hopes and dreams with anyone who would stop and listen. I hope to improve my skills in the future and work on sharing my love for music with others. There's no better feeling than composing and preforming ones own
I grew up in Yazoo City the middle out of nine children, and like the rest of my siblings I was almost entirely homeschooled. Music was possibly the most important subject, which incidentally happened to be the only one my mother didn’t teach. While my parents never actually said it, we all knew that it was a given that we would be taking piano lessons from around fourth grade to graduation. But when I was little I had zero interest in piano. I –for no reasons I can remember anymore- was very draw to violin and tried my hardest –without actually coming out and asking- to get my parents to let me take violin. As a six year-old my idea of “subtle hinting” was cutting out a violin shape from cardboard, and using a pencil as a bow to show my mom how well I “played”. In the end when I turned eight my
Their playing together were nicely insync with each other. It wasn’t badly off key or anything you might call music that isn’t insync. I specifically liked katie’s singining better than Jim’s. Larry’s ws alright. He sang one song a little better than alright at one point. But she sound like she had a perfect country music voice. I just thought of country music when I heard her. Her guiltar playing fit well with that thought too. Both of them played some of country music song. The last performances were Oren, Gabriel & Avery, a trio of people which consists of two men playing guiltars and a woman who sang. One was a steel guitar. One of the men sang as well. Their voices were okay. But what I really like the best about the group is their
Do you know what it feels like to give everything you have into one performance and then get first place, because I do. The West Branch show choir competition provided me with the life lesson of perseverance, determination, hard work.
As the dark stadium filled with fire, with the sounds of guns and bombs exploding everywhere, the crazed fans yelled at the top of their lungs. The enormous stage was rumbling with the sound of a single guitar as the band slowly started their next encore performance. Soon after I realized that I was actually at the Sanitarium concert listening to Metallica play "One", I thought to my self, "Is this real, am I actually here right now?" I had a weird feeling the entire time because I had worked all summer to simply listen to music with a bunch of strangers.
Ever since I was a small child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the
In my short 16 years there have been many experiences I have encountered in life that shape who I am. My identity today. As time has passed experiences have come one after another for me to learn. What has shaped me influenced me in this short time period are many things the topic around this lies around my social construct. I am a lot of things, I am someone who looks as a shy, quite, smart, nice etc. person. Those simple qualities that make who I am have been influenced upon me and in general just who I am. What has shaped me present day is my family structure and my education the most to shape my identity.
