September 18th, 2015 my life started to open up and unfold. I bought my own truck and expected not to have too many issues with it the first year or so; what a joke that was all right? Not too far into my new life with freedom with my adventurous truck it breaks down out of nowhere. Crying wasn't an option at this point I needed to get home, I was miles away. Within a month I had issues with the tires, transmission, and an accident. Let's let this story unfold into the horror I call my truck. Tires are not the first thing you generally worry about in a vehicle correct? Or at least not the tires flying off as your driving. Imagine this, your driving down a side road at 20 lousy minutes of midnight, the sky's dark and cloudy, and the airs moist …show more content…
The truck ended up getting the name disaster drone. How lovely right? How else was I to describe it? I recently just found out the truck also needed to have transmission lines redone due to the common wear and tear of years, they were rusty all the way through. I figured I have about a month or so before I can change them, not a great idea on my part. Driving in this wonderful City of Sanford. It was during that snow storm we had it was freezing outside, hence the reason I drove instead of walking. Anyways I hit a patch of black ice lost control of disaster drone I got stuck in a medium sized snow bank and ended up running out of transmission fluid trying to fight with the truck to get out. I don't blame disaster drone for not wanting to move in the frigid cold but I had places I needed to be. I ended up blowing my transmission from trying to get unstuck without transmission fluid, opps! After that my poor baby wouldn't move at all the tires spun but it didn't move. I panic again since that's what I'm good at and call my mechanic. My mechanic informed me with brutal honesty saying " Haley how stupid can you be, you know not to drive with transmission fluid you grew up in my garage." Soon after I paid JRankin towing $50 to tow disaster drone to the garage AGAIN! The truck is still sitting at the garage today because I currently don't have the money to fix
“It was extremely difficult to control the truck at the time, and I had both my wife (two
My mom as furious she thought I should have saved my money and bought a newer truck so I could be like everyone else, but that is not me I would take an older car over a new one any day just to be different The first thing we did was see if we could start the truck we put a battery, spark plugs, and then poured a little gas in the carburetor and turned the key, with only a couple of tries the old engine coughed to life I was ecstatic I know my dream was possible. We began to pull the truck apart and find any and everything that may have been wrong or wore out on it. The engine and transmission were pull and taken it to the shop were me and my dad spent every week and after school opportunity to go through and clean and re-gasket the entire engine and transmission. After a few months they looked like new I ended up painting the engine an old Chevy orange and I fell in love with
I tried to crouch down and pick up some speed and ended up doing an aerial front flip with a two point header right into a patch of ice crusted snow. I lay there for several minutes, wondering if the cold I felt was my body going numb. I had thought that that fancy trick had killed me, but it wasn't my time. It only left me with a bloody nose and a cut chin. I was very disappointed, I thought that at least a cracked vertebrae was deserving of my efforts.
As you can imagine I was contributing my fair share of all the clamor, but after about seven hours it soon became apparent that the effect of energy drinks would wear off. If you could have been there and looked around you would have seen some people reading, other talking amongst themselves; however, I was playing halo on my laptop. About two hours later after just getting into Colorado everything bad you can imagine started happening. I was asleep at this time, but when I heard the loud BOOM!, SNAP!, and HISS, I was instantly awake and wondering what had just happened. At first everyone thought it was just a blow out, but after our youth pastor got out and checked all the tires it soon became clear that there was a much bigger problem at hand. So our youth pastor decided we should call a mechanic and a tow truck, the problem was deciding if we should call...
About a month after I had got my license and winter had began to take its full affect, I was put in a difficult position. I could either drive to my friends house which was within a few miles, or stay home due to the recent coating of sleet on the roads. Of course, my mom prompted me to stay home. To me that was simply not an option
It seems unbelievable my oldest is a few days off being a decade old. I know every parent wonders “where has the time gone?” a multitude of times during their children’s childhoods, but as I realize my son is over halfway to 'adulthood' it seems like the time has flown by.
How to take care of your Truck's Tires Your trucks tires are a very important part of the vehicle. Your only contact with the road is through them and as such they need to be in the best condition if you are to maintain control of the vehicle. Looking after you tires will help you reduce costs as they last longer.
I told him ok and I hope they can get it started. We continued down the highway and about halfway to our destination, our low tire pressure light indicator came on. My grandfather pulled over and we both hopped out of the truck's cab. I ran around to the passenger rear tire and it was a horrible sight!
Your Vehicle: Always check your vehicle to make sure it can actually handle such an intense experience. Take it into the mechanic for a once over, if necessary.
The car has traveled hundreds of thousands miles. Through the hot summer days and the icy cold nights. The car has been a home to my oldest daughter. The car has been a place where she grew up. The long drive across town on the day she was born was just the start.
Have you ever been riding in a tractor on the road and looked out and saw flames coming out of the tractor? Let me just say that that is quite the freaky site. One year at my grandparents U-Pick strawberry field in Helvetia, Oregon, It rained and rained and rained so much that even the four wheel drive pickup trucks got stuck, so we had to bring everybody up the driveway on/in wagons that were either pulled by four wheelers or by tractors so that there was less of a chance of getting people stuck.
I cautiously make my way out of the truck, and head my way through the thick muck to the tailgate. While Chris was still trying to start the truck, I notice that every time it almost turns over water is shooting out of the exhaust pipes. “I have an idea!” I shout up to Chris, as I climb into the bed of the truck. Using all my force I jump up and down, trying to shake the water out of the exhaust. Success! The truck roars to life, and I scream with excitement! Chris throws the truck into drive, and starts to move forward. My hopes coming crashing down, and I hear the engine sounding ill. I flinch in shock from the loud bang coming from the exhaust, and the smoke returns. At this point Chris jumps out of the truck, and opens the hood. “Great! Just what I thought, the spark plug caps are drenched.” Chris grumbles. I remembered I had towels in the back seat from a few days prior, when we went to the beach. I quickly jump out of the back of the truck and dredge my way to the back door. I grab the towels and bring them up to the front. “Will this work?” I ask. “Doubtful, but we can try.” Chris skeptically responds. So there we were, drying off every inch of the motor we could reach, and the spark plug wire caps as well. “Alright let’s give this another shot, go try and start her up.” Chris said. I jump in the driver’s seat, put the key in the ignition, and take a deep
One of the most important part of any car is the tires. Tires are in constant contact with the road, and like the Goodyear commercial says, “So much is riding on your tires.”
One evening, my dad and I were going home from the supermarket. The rain was pouring heavily and the roads were very slippery. It was quiet. The night was very peaceful with just a few cars on the road. My dad turned into a dark road which was surrounded by many trees which made the road very narrow. The road continued unto a long bridge. I looked out of the window and noticed that a lot of cars sped across the bridge. Suddenly, I saw a huge truck coming in our direction; the slippery road had caused the truck to lose its balance. The truck was a very old rickety Benz truck. By the look of the trucks shattered windshield and distorted car frame, one could tell that the truck was very old. The truck driver who was a very old man tried as much as possible to control the steering wheel but could not. The truck kept coming our way.
When I looked in the rearview mirror is when I knew it was all over. June 25, 2013 was the most tragic day in my life. It was not until that day that I realized how much I appreciate my life and my family. I was on the freeway headed towards the Galleria in Houston, TX, passing the tall Texaco building on this bright sunny afternoon, when everything went downhill. I remember seeing all of the cars in front of me have their bright red tail lights on because everyone was coming to a stop. As soon as I slowed down, I looked into my rearview mirror to see a beige car not slowing down at all but instead looking down at his phone texting, it was already too late for me to do anything. I felt as if my life were over and there was nothing anyone could do, I was sixteen years old when I had my first car accident. I learned that I should have stayed home the afternoon I got into my first car accident. That afternoon I remember gripping my steering wheel so tightly because I was so nervous about the car behind me that I could feel all of the ridges and grooves throughout my entire steering wheel and every indention in my steering
