Personal Narrative Essay: A Trip To The Family To Ocean Shores

The time that I made an “unexpected” friend was during a summer road trip with my family to Ocean Shores. This took us about two days to get there with stops in between. I remember watching the horizon getting closer as my Dad continued to drive towards the coast. While watching the clouds change from darkness to raining, and see the sun in another area at the same time. The clouds seem to make animal shapes and I would watch them traveling along with us. We would also, play games like I spy and take turns as my sister; who would ask, “Are we there yet?” After hours of driving we finally arrived at the Lodge. Dad said,” We are finally here.” My Sister and I could barely wait to get out of the car. This lodge was amazing and beautiful. The …show more content…

There are many things to enjoy at the ocean; I almost forgot! The ice cream seller; who also, had sold kites to fly on the beach. We decided to buy ice cream which tasted so sweet and cold as it touched my tongue; while it tried to melt under the hot sun. When we were able to tear ourselves away from the beach, the warm pools and the endless activities, we explored the sea museum and nearby towns. The sea museum had incredible sea life; which in one area you could pick up the starfishes, sea shells, and feel how each shell felt in our hands. On the one rainy day of the week, we hit the beach and looked for seashells. My sister and I saw many different shells while watching bubbles coming up from the sand. I did not know at first, but these were until my dad told me that they were clams hiding from many clam diggers. My Parents showed my sister and I how to get the clams quickly before they disappeared further into the sand. This was such a fun experience to learn about the life by the …show more content…

At high tide, the ocean came right up to the wall and flowed back and slapped against my feet. At low tide you could walk out on the ocean floor for a very long time seeing shells that were not broken. After, along day at the ocean, we would go back and have dinner at the lodge. Later we would get together with other families and make a big fire pit to be able to make s’mores. Putting together a s’more is one of the messiest things you can possibly do. I showed my sister how to put a s’more together and how to be very careful eating the s’more because the chocolate likes to go everywhere. She laughed at me as we were both tried to make a s’more. This became one of our favorite treats to eat. It’s these experiences made my sister and I very close, which showed me that even a sister can become an “Unexpected” friend and even now we are still friends even as we grow older.
