Buying my first Car Buying my first car was the worst experience I had as a young a kid. As a kid growing up in south phoenix I had lots of fun. Our family spent a lot of time together. My favorite time was going fishing. We would take off for long drives to go out to lakes and fish. Sometimes the drives would take two days. I was always fascinated over the drive. I could not wait until the time came for me to buy my own car. I remember when I turned sixteen ( driving age) my mom would take me out driving. This was a very fun time. She would let me drive to pick up my sister from work. My sister worked at a daycare center that was about 15 miles from our house. I felt like that was the best day of my life. Two weeks later, the car started smoking real bad. I took it to my uncle who was a mechanic. My uncle told me that I had bought a “ lemon” ( bad car). He went on to tell me that this car had a lot of mechanical problems that would take lots of money to fix. I took the car back to the car lot and told the owner what my uncle told me. The owner told me that the car was sold to me “as is” meaning it did not come with a warrenty . I went out and bought parts to try and fix the car myself, trying to save money. Things got worst from there. I didn’t put the parts on right and ended up replacing the whole motor. Shortly after replacing the engine. I learened that the engiene I bought was a used engine that came from a wrecking yard and had known guarantee. After driving for two weeks with the new engine I just bought it started smoking too. Again I took it to my uncle and he said the same thing. “ you bought a lemon”. Finally I decided to just take the car to a auto recycling center . They bought the car from me for $50. After that I learned to never buy a car for $250 because you get what you pay
