My senior year in high school, I started dating my boyfriend Dontavious. During my senior year I had part time job at McDonald’s. One night my manager ask me to step outside because a customer wanted to talk to me personally. She introduced herself to as Sarah and asked me questions about my family. Towards the end of the conversation she informed me that my grandfather is father, which meant she was my aunt. I went home to tell my mother about what was said. My mother explained that Sarah was telling the truth, but my family did not speak about the situation. Graduation time was slowly approach and Dontavious suggested that our families should all come together and meet one another. Dontavious’s Aunt Sabrina had a baby shower. I did not speak to Sarah and she did not say anything to me. Later on that night I ask my boyfriend who Sarah was to him. He explained to me that Sarah was TJ’s mother, his Aunt Sabrina’s husband. Time passed by and it was time for graduation. Dontavious graduation came before mines. After Dontavious graduation, his parent gave him a surprise party. At the graduation party I told everyone that they were all welcomed to attend my graduation party in two weeks. All of my family from New York flew down to South Carolina to attend my graduation. Being that I had invited Dontavious’s family also, I felt it would be a good time for everyone to meet each other. Everyone mingled with each, but I noticed my Aunt Rachel stayed to herself. This was not normal, she is always the life of the party. She called me over and asked who TJ was. Not giving too much detail I explained that he was Dontavious’s uncle. After a while, I saw my aunts and uncle in a huddle. My aunt walked over to TJ and started asking him questions. TJ had certain similar facial feature that made him look like us. My mother walked over to him and started asking him
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
A calm crisp breeze circled my body as I sat emerged in my thoughts, hopes, and memories. The rough bark on which I sat reminded me of the rough road many people have traveled, only to end with something no one in human form can contemplate.
I made it to Big Lots, where Jonathan works, and I forced him to come outside and look at my car. Then we sat and talked for a while and I bragged about how I was going to my grandma’s house to eat a good home-cooked meal, while he would be forced to eat fast food again. When I left Big Lots, I still had a little time before church let out, so I drove back to Gray to the Dollar Store for some supplies for a Spanish class project I was doing that week. Finally I pulled into my grandparents’ driveway, and I noticed the door was closed. I thought this was unusual because I knew my grandpa was home, but I had forgotten a school fundraiser form for my aunts to look at, so I turned around and drove back home to Jonesborough. While driving home my friend Rachel and her mother were behind me, they followed me all the way to my house. I thought it was some kind of joke, but when we pulled into my driveway, Rachel yelled, “Get in the car! They had to take your grandma to the hospital.”
When I was about four or five years old, I bounced between three houses: my mother’s, my grandparents, and occasionally my father’s. I always enjoyed being at my grandparent’s and father’s house; their house was always fun. On the contrary, when I was at my mother’s house, she had a boyfriend who was abusive both physically and emotionally. As her boyfriend would beat me, my mother would sit in the other room and watch television instead of standing up for her daughter. I never said anything to my grandparents because I had thought that this was a normal thing that happened in any ordinary household. Similarly, I never told my father because I hardly got to see him since his job forced him to go out of town. Eventually, the
I tried so many excuses but she demanded I must stay home and get ready for my dinner with my future husband. I start worrying because I am afraid that he’ll keep waiting for me and there are no ways for me to contact him. Finally Brain and his mother had arrived and the thoughts of marrying Brian in less than a month was repulsive. After grabbing two glass of water for them, i overheard Brian telling my aunt that I wasn’t pretty. In a way that really hurt me and I quickly walked outside trying not to cry. Of course! Brian had to follow me outside, he apoligize and started comforting me by holding my hands. As i turned around I saw Alex staring at us and my heart kept beating rapidly! I started freaking out thinking Alex would be mad and upset at me. Quickly right after dinner I ran down to the park and started looking for him, with no sights of Alex I decided to leave him a note to meet me at midnight. Later on when I was entering the house on 37 Brook street seeing Alex was such a relief! I was afraid he was furious at me but instead he set up a really nice picnic for us. The time spend with Alex is incredible, it makes me really upset how short amount of time we have left! He started suggesting that we move to the WIlds together, but i quickly denied his offer. I explained to him I cannot be like my mother and that lead me to talking a lot about her. I told him this special
I was a student in a high school. After two weeks one of my classmates asked me to take my math notes because I was a good student. Deli was the student who asked me to take my notes. I gave her the notes, and I gave her permission to take it, and she would return the notes next day. Deli gave me her home number; it was 0938. On Monday, Deli was absent. I was so worried about my notes because I had a quiz that week. When I came home; I called Deli’s number, but I called 0983. The boy told me that her sister not here, and he gave me her personal number that was around 3.pm. At 5pm, I called Delis’ phone number. I said, “Hello”, but the voice was the same boy who told me that his sister not here. I said that why you did that with me. He told me that he wanted to talk with me. I understood that in my religion and culture that was so an unacceptable, but I told him what you want from me, you did not even know me; then, I closed than phone without saying goodbye.
A month after this happened my grandmother Emma called my mother at her office, and said she didn’t need to pick up my father after work due to he had already called my grandmother to have her pick him up for he had gotten himself fired by his family. As soon as my mother arrived at home, my father, he told her all about how his family fired him, then he said “Elizabeth, my buddies, and I are going to the mountains to rock climb to help me get over it.” Still such young newlyweds, and wanting to be considered a wonderful wife, he didn’t seem to see, she didn’t mention it to my father how upset she felt he would get fired, and then up, and leave on a fun trip with his buddies. While left at home, my father’s brother Wade came over to pick up something out of my parents garage. My mother stayed inside the house, and didn’t traipse out, and talk to him for the sake of she thought he fired her husband. After Wade left he called my mother to find out why she wasn’t her usual friendly self. She then told him “ I can not believe you fired Liam.” He asked her “Can we have a family meeting in as much as we did not fire Liam, he quit!” My mother soon found out he had
She revealed that the week prior a man had attempted to murder my uncle. They weren’t sure how much brain damage he had endured at the time but he was expected to survive. My uncle was my father figure growing up, I was devastated. This was the greatest loss of my life, even without a death occurring. I became severely depressed after this, I developed night terrors, and issues with attachment. The case lasted years in court, every new trail opened up old wounds. I would not discover the motivation for the crime for many years. Before the incident my uncle hid his drug addictions from me, afterwards he was too brain damaged and in constant pain to care. The man that attempted the murder stole my uncle and replaced him with
Twenty minutes later, I sight my aunt’s friend who happens to be an aunt to the bride, I leave my seat and go to talk with her, while talking with her, I notice my cousin talking with fine specimen of protoplasm and I quietly excused myself from the discussion with the lady and I say to my cousin this guy is fine and she rushes to tell the guy , me feeling a little bit embarrassed I muster courage and talk with this “my man of the moment” and he collects my phone number saying he would call later and I smile and go back to my conversation with my
Last Thursday my family decided to go to Allegany High School to Meet the Squad night to watch my niece perform. My niece, Kami, is now fifteen and is a member of the dance team for her school. This is the last year for Allegany High School to be open; they are closing the old school and building a new one before next school year. I went with my mom, my brother, and my girlfriend to watch Kami perform. The whole gym was packed with parents and other relatives, and there we sat right in the middle. The bleachers were packed and people sat so close together just to fit. The entire time my girlfriend and I joked about how we felt awkward being there since we both graduated from Mountain Ridge. At one point my girlfriend whispered in my ear “their
First of all, my parents have their own business called Rainbow Vacuum. They have been doing this for twenty-nine years. It was the day after my twelfth birthday and the day before a concert I was thrilled about going to. Well my dad fixed the ladies vacuum and wanted to collect the customer’s money before going to a concert the next day for my birthday present. It was late in the evening about seven o’clock and the customer did not like to drive after a certain time so my dad offered to deliver the vacuum to her house. I really wanted to go ride with him but he told me no since it was late and needed to help mom with my brothers. After putting my two brothers to sleep, on August 11, 1999, my mom received a call from Terrebonne General Medical Center. The nurse told my mom that my dad was in a major car accident and she needed to come to the hospital right away to sign release forms so he can be treated. At the moment she was not thinking at the time and responded, “Tell him to call when he leaves.” Nurse said,” Ma’am you do not understand, you really need to come now.” “The car is wrecked and your husband is in need of medical treatment.” “A sixteen year old boy speed onto Prospect Road and hit your husband in a head on collision; it took the Jaws of Life to get him out of the car after close to two hours.” She called the neighbor to come watch us while she goes to the hospital to see what was going on. She told me I can stay up for updates and to call my grandparents after she leaves. Well the doctor met my mom in the waiting room with a piece of paper that had a quick drawing of a person head to ...
We moved back home to my grandmother house until my mom can find us another house. My mom told us that we will be living in Florida after the year was up. My mom travel back and forth from our hometown to Florida getting things situated. She had found a house by the beach and a great job. We had one month left in the year then we would be moving to Florida. My mom stayed in Florida for a week to get the house situated so we can just move right in. She did not tell my step dad that we was moving to Florida but somehow he had already knew. He had popped up at our house in Florida and gave my mom some flowers and some panties with the days of the week on them. My mom didn 't think anything of it so she ignore the gift. She had continued getting things ready for us to come down to Florida. The last day of the week had come, February 27, 2009, and she was about to be on the way home to come get us. There was a knock on my grandmother’s door. It was a Police. He asked, "Is this the family of Renada Lucas?" He came in the house sat my family down and told us the news. "There have been and accident. On her way outside to her car she had an unpleasant surprise. It was her ex-husband following her to the car. She did not want to be bothered by him so she hurried to her car. He then took out a gun and told her to stop. She did not stop she ran to her car and opened the door and tried to get in her car. Before she can get in her car he
My brother and sister became distant and would no longer talk and be all out going like usual. That’s when i decided to get change for us. I started to share what was happening to staff at my school to get the social workers rolling again and find some ways of getting out of there. That’s when more physical abuse came about to me and my siblings. I don’t know how it got to that point, but I forgive them. We are all human and make terrible choices. In order to get away from that i begged my uncle and grandmother to take us just for a little while. I did not even know who i was asking for help from at that point. When they arrived to pick us up my dad was sound asleep. We stayed there for only maybe two months all together. There i realized what kind of place my sister actually lived in all that time. Turns out my uncle and grandmother were crazy. I can’t believe my sister never told me what had happened to her while she was in that house, but i try to be understanding any how. Then once we moved home i witnessed my mother’s death one night while my dad was at work; and i ended up getting taken by the police along with luke(my brother) and angela. We were accepted into a family i’ve never even met before. The place was terrifying, but at
I wanted to ask where she was but I realized she was grown and I shouldn’t be in her business. But a couple days past and she still hadn’t come home so I asked my aunt where was she. She told me she was in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. My aunt told me that they were going to Bond her out that following weekend when she got paid. Time flew by and I was ready to see my mom, so the night before we went to bond her out we call my siblings over to the house. We are all laughing and playing reminiscing on the old times so I couldn’t even remember. Then came a knock on the door usually it would be a weed sell but this was different, this was a short stubby white guy with a white envelope and a suite. He came and asked to speak to the owner of the house. I looked at the door and watched as my aunt started shaking and and crying. Everyone in the house asked what happened and she replied that my mothered had
Before we both walked in Tanis looked at me and said “greet everyone if you don’t they’ll think your rude”. I kept that in mind, when we both walked in the table was set for 11 people right around the corner. While turning that corner I took a deep breath everything was alright so far I greeted everyone just fine. I got along well with his mom and sister they were both very generous, complementing me saying that I looked beautiful it made me feel a little more comfortable being there. Then I noticed that his father wasn’t there I asked tanis “where is your dad” he responded “he is outside taking a breather. In the mean time I talked to his brother who told me “don’t worry about our dad he jokes around a lot so don’t take it
