Miracles do happen; I personally think that it is a life check to realize what is important in life. What will I face today First of all, my parents have their own business called Rainbow Vacuum. They have been doing this for twenty-nine years. It was the day after my twelfth birthday and the day before a concert I was thrilled about going to. Well my dad fixed the ladies vacuum and wanted to collect the customer’s money before going to a concert the next day for my birthday present. It was late in the evening about seven o’clock and the customer did not like to drive after a certain time so my dad offered to deliver the vacuum to her house. I really wanted to go ride with him but he told me no since it was late and needed to help mom with my brothers. After putting my two brothers to sleep, on August 11, 1999, my mom received a call from Terrebonne General Medical Center. The nurse told my mom that my dad was in a major car accident and she needed to come to the hospital right away to sign release forms so he can be treated. At the moment she was not thinking at the time and responded, “Tell him to call when he leaves.” Nurse said,” Ma’am you do not understand, you really need to come now.” “The car is wrecked and your husband is in need of medical treatment.” “A sixteen year old boy speed onto Prospect Road and hit your husband in a head on collision; it took the Jaws of Life to get him out of the car after close to two hours.” She called the neighbor to come watch us while she goes to the hospital to see what was going on. She told me I can stay up for updates and to call my grandparents after she leaves. Well the doctor met my mom in the waiting room with a piece of paper that had a quick drawing of a person head to ... ... middle of paper ... ...t was too sweet to eat the last bite but tried to anyway at the moment I tried to swallow the rest. There was a huge pecan piece in that bite and lodged in my throat, I starting choking in my room. I tried drinking the glass of milk to forced it down but that did not work. At this point, I could not scream so I get up out of bed and see myself in my mirror seeing I am red slowly turning blue. I grabbed the chair and started the Heimlich, finally after about ten tries the pecan came out. I was able to breathe again not to mention was on a soft diet for about a week from my throat hurting. In conclusion, everything happens for a reason even though sometimes does not end well but when it has a positive ending I see as a miracle. That reminds me of a saying, “Live well, love much and laugh often.” Reason to think about life lessons we face in this world we live in.
In this book Miracles, C.S. Lewis challenges to the world that many do not believe in miracles anymore. He tackles the widely and most obvious thing that the supernatural occurrences are impossible, and establishes that the basis for such argument is not is not a deep knowledge of science
There are many miraculous people on this planet. Some of these people have had miraculous experiences, others have accomplished miraculous success, and some people remind us of how miraculous our lives really are. Every now and then someone comes along who shows us that miracles really are possible. That was what a mentally handicapped African American boy from Anderson, South Carolina was put on this Earth to do.
Throughout modern times Christianity has been greatly bashed by science and all the new discoveries. Many scientists believe that through recent findings and philosophies that they are able to contradict one of the strongest and most spiritually prominent religions in the world. But science is backed by little proof. Science bases their conclusions off of two things: observation and replication. There are things of this world that can clearly not be seen, for example the Lord, and also things that cannot be reproduced such as Christ’s virgin birth or his resurrection. These miracles are impossible and could only be done by the hands of a higher being. This is why science really does not have a say when it comes to miracles. Also secular scientists, even Christian scientists use the “scientific method” to obtain answers to their problems. However, the scientific method is applied to solve the discoveries of a natural world, not ones of a supernatural world. According to Professor Alister McGrath, “Science is neutral. It does not presuppose or imply atheism”. Thus, meaning that science as a whole does not answer the big questions of life or religion. We know that the miracles performed actually happened because: many people witnessed them, they were accurately transcribed by noble men, and the “hostile” witnesses provide no true answer in the argument against Jesus’s miracles.
When I walked inside the front door something didn’t seem right. The feeling of sorrow overwhelmed the house. It was so thick I could literally feel it in the air. Everyone was motionless. They were sulking;I was befuddled. The most energetic people in the world, doing absolutely nothing. I repeatedly asked them what was wrong. After an hour or so, my dad pulled me aside. He said that my Aunt Feli had passed away last night. My mind went for a loop, I was so confused. I thought that he was joking, so I replied “You’re lying, don’t mess with me like that.” and punched his shoulder softly while I chuckled. My dad quickly started tearing up and said, “There...

Dear Pat, I have just finished my study of C.S. Lewis's Miracles, and I wanted to discuss it with you. A miracle is an interference with Nature by a supernatural power. Since this is such a broad definition then there are obviously many opinions. Miracles either exist or the do not, and if they do exist then we must also ask how likely they are to occur. C.S Lewis explores both sides of this argument. Lewis notes that much of the world during his time came to believe that nothing existed except for what could be seen, smelled, heard, or tasted. People believed that there was nothing more than the natural world and the universe in which they lived. Although Lewis is careful not to classify any modern event as a miracle, they are possible,
Ok. One night my sister and I were at my father’s house. He lives in Kingsville on 10 maybe 9 acres of land in this [small pause, looks at ceiling] I wouldn’t really call it a farmhouse, just a kind of small house out there. The previous person who lived in the house was supposedly shipped to an asylum, for, you know, normal stuff [pause] schizophrenic or something. My sister and I were at the house one night and we were cleaning up the house while my dad was on some sort of job out of the state and my step mom was at work in the hospital. We were doing our stuff, and then the power flickered, and came back on. We didn’t think anything of it. Then, outside of the door, we heard a noise, kinda like a dog barking, but like, just enough not so that we knew it wasn’t. So, we hear this noise, and start to get fre...
Before watching “Life’s Greatest Miracle,” I knew conceiving a baby is a complex and difficult process. However, I did not realize just how complex and difficult that process actually is. Conceiving a baby takes a lot more than meets the eye: it takes DNA from both genders, the right timing and so much more.
When you look at the miracles performed by Jesus during his time on earth how can you question that he was the Messiah? Jesus performed so many miracles during his three-year ministry which makes it rather difficult to just choose a couple to speak about for this assignment. The basis of the miracles really depended on a person’s faith in Jesus before and after being healed. This is still a very important life lesson we as people of Christ need to continue to remember. Though it is easy to stray away from the faith in Christ and prayer, as the disciples witnessed hands on, we must constantly have a relationship with God to seek guidance in those troubled times. As a group we each decided to pick two miracles of Jesus’ ministry that stood out to us and had a lasting impression on the people experiencing them, the disciples, and ourselves.
A family friend, Rose Widmer, came over as my mom and dad were getting ready to leave. She would be staying with us because it looked like they would not be coming home that night. As Kelly and I were eating our supper, my mom came into the kitchen and sat down beside me. She explained to us that our dad was very sick, and that he was having trouble with his brain. She used the term "brain abscess." She said that this is what the doctors speculated was wrong with him, but they needed to go to Fort Wayne to take precautions.
Let me ask you a question, do you believe in miracles? Or, more appropriately, do you consider, that in today’s scientific era, it is illogical to relate a fact out of common sense, to one that would establish a witness for the intervention of a supernatural being? Here’s a moment to think a about it. Let me guess, you’re sitting there trying to make up your mind. Don’t worry; you’re not the first person that does not believe in miracles. In the past, some two centuries ago, Scottish philosopher David Hume did not believe either. And probably you have good reason not to either. But, let’s not diverse.

February twenty-third 2010 was just a regular ordinary day. I was on my way to class on this cold February afternoon, when my phone rung. It was my cousin on the other end telling me to call my mom. I could not figure out what was wrong, so I quickly said okay and I hung up and called my mom. When my mom answered the phone I told her the message but I said I do not know what is wrong. My mom was at work and could not call right away, so I took the effort to call my cousin back to see what was going on. She told me that our uncle was in the hospital and that it did not look good. Starting to tear up I pull over in a fast food restaurant parking lot to listen to more to what my cousin had to say. She then tells me to tell my mom to get to the hospital as quickly as possible as if it may be the last time to see her older brother. My mom finally calls me back and when I tell her the news, she quickly leaves work. That after-noon I lost my Uncle.
It was Friday night, I took a shower, and one of my aunts came into the bathroom and told me that my dad was sick but he was going to be ok. She told me that so I did not worry. I finished taking a bath, and I immediately went to my daddy’s house to see what was going on. My dad was throwing-up blood, and he could not breath very well. One of my aunts cried and prayed at the same time. I felt worried because she only does that when something bad is going to happen. More people were trying to help my dad until the doctor came. Everybody cried, and I was confused because I thought it was just a stomachache. I asked one of my older brothers if my dad was going to be ok, but he did not answer my question and push me away. My body shock to see him dying, and I took his hand and told him not to give up. The only thing that I heard from him was, “Daughters go to auntie...
Years ago I had the most terrifying, shocking day of my life. I had between seven or eight years when this happened. The day before the accident, all my family was at my grandfather’s house. We all were eating the food my mother and my aunts brought, telling jokes at the dinner table. Meanwhile, I was playing with my cousins in the backyard. Everyone was enjoying the family meeting. As the time passed by and everyone was about to go home, my mother suggested the idea that we all should go at my grandparent’s ranch next day, since everyone was in town we all could have the chance to go. Everyone liked the idea. It was the perfect time to go because it was a weekend. As they all agreed to go, they begun to decide who bring what to the gathering. Who would have thought that thanks to that suggestion, I would lead me to the hospital the day of the reunion.
