It was two in the morning. Four hours after I got after I got off of work. I snuck back into my bedroom window in hopes that I wouldn't wake anyone up in the house. As i crawled in the window I accidently stepped on my sister Kylie. “OUCH! WHAT THE--” She attempted to scream as i quickly put my hand over her mouth to keep her from waking anyone up. Too late. My mom bursted through the door with startling excitement trying to figure out what was going on. “Who screamed? Is everything okay?” Kylie started in, “ Sorry mom, I didn't mean to wake you up it’s just that Stephaine--” I tried to cut her off before she said anything else, “ I was just trying to close the window because it was cold..” I stuttered. After hours of lecturing about how we shouldn’t stay up so late at night and how waking her up was so bad for her, I was finally able to go to sleep. My dreams haunted me that night. I woke up panicking in a cold sweat. It had only been a couple hours since i had snuck out, but it seemed like only minutes had passed. …show more content…
After I had cleaned up and got dressed, I went and made breakfast. My mom and sister walked in, “ What are you wearing??? It’s Sunday you need to get dressed for
“Maggie, what is that sound? We’ve been trying to wake you forever,” my mom crowed.
As she sits in the darkness her eyes begin to scan the room from right to left. Unknowingly she sits down and begins to contemplate on what just happened. She says to herself quietly, “Did that just happen?”
“Taylor! What are you doing up at 6 in the morning on the first day of summer?” I yelled at my sister from under the blankets.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
I had no idea what was going on and I don’t think he knew either. I could feel myself loosing balance but I fought to stay up right as I covered my ears screaming because I couldn’t stand the pain of never-ending noise pulsing through my head!
We had all just got back from Des Moines. Alivia, Lexi, Brianna, and I wore sitting on her bed. Our faces lit up with blue because we were on our phones. It was really late I think maybe eleven o’clock. When I glance up and watch the bathroom door creep closed. I freaked out about it trying to scare everyone else. Alivia basically sits on me. Pulling a mound of blankets over our heads. Everyone is screaming and Brianna’s mom, Keri, runs into her room. Then the door opens slightly and that’s when I actually panic. I cling to Alivia and yelling, “Did you see that?” Keri looks very concerned about us and has fear in her own eyes as she jumps into bed with us. We all don’t know what to do. All of us are telling Keri to go look while we hide under the blankets. My mind is racing I personally don’t want to go check because what if there’s a killer in the bathroom. All I can think is I’m too young die.
I used to be one of those people, you know the type of people who think that myths, and ghosts, and murders are a load of crap. But until about two years ago my mind all changed.
...weight of it shattered her bone completely. She screamed out in pain, grabbing at her ankle. I suppressed my yell and bit down on my lip hard enough to draw blood.
My home nurse comes up into my isolated bedroom; she shakes the bed to find the medication for my 2 o'clock pill. She looks around a bit confused although she removes my blanket. I look around in suspense as well. She takes the bottle which is almost finished and brings it downstairs for the check-in. However, when Leslie returns, pills seem to have been removed. I look at her knowing she took some for personal sales, yet that’s our secret. My husband, Liam, walks into the room as she slips the illegal money beneath my leg and he seems confused. He walks toward us slowly as my nurse slips out.
Growing up, my parents owned and operated a successful small business. As crafting trends changed and scrapbooking went online, they were forced to file bankruptcy – both personal and business – in 2013. I was just starting high school and realized the repercussions this would cause on my plan. I have always planned on pursuing higher education and realized that any hope of financial support from my parents was dismal. I poured myself into school, finding a new motivation in the realization that great grades would lead to scholarships. I found a new job as a night manager at a local grocery store. That job benefited my family in multiple ways as it provided me with a steady income – meager, but consistent- and helped with food insecurities
“ Of course I am!” I answered with a mouth full of luscious velvet cake.
It was a long and silent night. I couldn’t help but realize that, as the night progressed, my chances of survival were decreasing. I had intentionally come out to the forest to find some crowberry for my pet jackalope, Rufus; it was the time of season the berries were to be at their ripest point, but little had I known that it would arrive. It was a beast with teeth the size of rock, the head of a tiger, the body of a snake, the wings of a great eagle, and green, glowing eyes staring at you as if your death approached with every step it took. I was lucky to have survived, but my friend, Thomas, wasn’t. I had watched as the beast took Thomas away to its lair in the high peaks of Mount Atheodus, while I had to return to Rufus.
Her knock was half-assed, too soft for even her to hear. She tried again, still soft but—

The aromas of ink and paper filled my senses, I was printed on a square sheet of paper, other bills surrounded me. I suddenly had become aware that I had been created. I was filled with thoughts of being free and happy, but then I realized I couldn’t move or talk. I would forever be passed around, under the control of someone who didn’t know I had thoughts. I would never be able to have a word, give my opinion, I would only be able to exist. My thoughts were quickly put aside when I saw the blade coming down. It sliced through the sheet of paper I was connected to, I could feel the panic of the other bills. Then I felt the pain, the excruciating pain, I could feel the fibers in the paper being sliced. I was separated from my fellow brethren,
