I used to be one of those people, you know the type of people who think that myths, and ghosts, and murders are a load of crap. But until about two years ago my mind all changed.
It was a breezy autumn day in mid October, a day when about every single leaf has fallen off the big oak tree just down the road. I was walking around, minding my own business when all of a sudden out of no where my cellular phone began to ring. Surprised, because hardly anyone calls my cellular phone, I picked up the phone.
“HEY!” said the voice on the other side.
“Hey!” I said back confusingly,” Who is this?”
“This is Hudson!”
Could this be too good to be true? Could this be the Hudson from that college spring break trip? Though all my life I have always been the type of person never to get too attached to one particle person, but I guess Hudson was one exception. To become attached to a person you barely even knew was kind of odd.
Well our conversation drug on into us planning a meeting this evening at our class reunion. This is somewhat of a nice restaurant, although not near the best. It is not in the best part of town either, but I was no going to reject.
I finish walking down my street admiring the beautiful weather, when I notice a black Jaguar sitting on the corner. Not as if I have never saw one, it was just very awkward to see a car like this in this part of town. Well, I made my way up the stairs on my apartment on the corner of Reed and Oak. I go in and take my shower, and as I go to blow dry my hair I cannot help to notice that the Jaguar is still sitting there.
I decide to ware my denim tube dress. I head out to my car and to realize as soon as I step out of my building the Jaguar takes off. I went to the reunion, and soon to find out there was Hudson sitting right in the window. He saw me and rushed towards me to give me a hug. I set of a chat and the minuets turn into hours, and the cups of coffee keep adding up. Around 7:00, he suggests a walk in the park, so I accept.

In the essay “Our Cell Phones, Our Selves” written by Christine Rosen, the author presents a brief history on how cell phones were introduced into society and how this artifact changed people’s interactions in the physical space. Rosen describes the first cell phone that appeared in 1983 as “hardly elegant,” big and expensive (458). Cell phones at that time were mainly used by important and affluent people. However, seven years later, cell phones became smaller and affordable provoking a big change in society. This big technological advance did not only affect the United States, but the entire world.
The American Transcendental movement of new ideas began, as a rebellion within the Unitarian Church, in the Boston area, in the nine-tenth century around 1830 and continued all the way up to the civil war (Boller 1). One man that is considered to be a notable leader in the Transcendental Movement is Ralph Waldo Emerson. H...
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote it and Henry David Thoreau lived it. Transcendentalism was a religious and philosophical movement developed approximately in the 1820s and 1830s. It began in the northeastern part of the United States. According to Paul Reuben, the movement began as a protest against spirituality and the intellectualism brought from England to the United States (Reuben). The movement’s core beliefs can be inferred in a single line, infixed good found in nature and people. They fought against the only two big institutions that influenced society in that time, the government and religion; which were said to pervert individuals.
Emerson shows transcendentalism through the society, individualism, and imagination in the society we live in today.
“History”, “Friendship”, “Love”, and “Self-reliance” are all “slices” of a series of essays written by the renowned transcendental author Ralph Waldo Emerson. His essays are all pieces to a “Transcendentalist pie” of sorts. They all play a major part in the whole scheme of the transcendental view viewpoint and exemplify transcendental beliefs. The main focuses of these essays are all intertwined by the common ground Transcendentalism and its many facets.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
The transcendental movement began to take shape in 1836 at the Transcendental Club in Boston, in which the most influence leaders of the movement came together and published a magazine known as The Dial which was expressed their ideas and brought them to the public. Some of the attendees included Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Margaret Fuller, Theodore Parker, Brunson Alcott, and William Willery C...
Emerson: Transcendentalism comes from the romanticism of Britain and Germany, whose core belief is the natural goodness of man and nature. We insisted that society and its system have undermined the purity of the individual and that the people are in the best state of "self-reliant" and independence. Transcendentalism emphasizes the subjective intuition of objective empiricism. In my opinion, individuals can produce completely original ideas and do not care and respect the masters of the past. We are strong believers in personal power. It focuses on personal
On the Monday October 27th, 2014, for the first time in 4 years I did not wake up at 5:30 in the morning, I was not putting on a green skivvy shirt and shorts. There was no formation, no one that was higher command I had to report to, telling me where I had to go, what time I had to eat breakfast, what was I doing this day or what our platoon plans were for the day. There were no PT (physical training) I had to do this morning. Instead, I woke up grab a regular t-shirt, khaki shorts, and my two sea bags full of clothing and gear that I collected during my time in the Marine Corps. I threw everything in my vehicle and drove from Camp Pendleton, California to Quincy, Illinois. Within two weeks I was accepted to Southern Illinois University Carbondale. For three days, I stayed at the

Transcendentalism was a popular movement during the nineteenth century. This movement included philosophical, political, and literary expansion of free will and accepting of others. Several people contributed to this movement; however, there were three people that provided the most contribution.
Transcendentalism is one of the most influential movements in ideological and literary fields in American history. It emphasizes the spirit of the universe, which means it admits the existence of the "oversoul." This shows a new view of nature for people; the formation of this idea especially caused people to focus on their "personal"-individual life. Transcendentalism has religious origins and was influenced by romanticism, it tells people to be self reliant, to have self esteem, and to strive to rely on their own strength to ascend and improve their spiritual realm. Also, it liberates humanity to a great extent and improves the status of people, making people's freedom possible and it has a strong critical spirit and to build a society with
The house phone started to ring. “We have a house phone?” I questioned myself rubbing my eyes giving off a weary sigh. When did I fall asleep? I headed downstairs and it stopped. Again it rang and I guessed it was on the bottom shelf hence lack of usage. Pulling off the dusty cloth I grasped the telephone and answered.
