The seventh grade....what can I say? It has been a roller coaster, one full of notes, homework, deadlines, big assignments, deadlines, huge projects, speeches, presentations, and learning. I suppose that, looking back on it, I can honestly say that most of the year depended on how well I was able to read, write and adapt new skills. Every thing, in every class I have, in its own right, ties back to the classes that teach me the fundamentals of reading, writing, and speaking. Granted, most of these things we are taught early on, but we are always getting better, improving, revising, and adapting. I feel now I will start by talking about my weak suit and how the year has gone with it so far.
Speaking.... I am just going to start by saying this year was a completely different experience than any I have ever had with speaking before. It seemed, until this year that we gave one or maybe two presentations per semester per class. Seventh grade was in simple terms, the complete opposite. We have given some form of speech over almost every topic this year, I quite honestly believe that if they could they would turn this into a speech too. In social studies, we used powerpoint’s, posters, dioramas, and acting to present almost every section of our textbooks to the class. In science, we held consensus and often had to present our ideas and models to the class as a way to share what we learned and sometimes, how it related to us. In reading we gave a few speeches, just not as many as we do in other classes. Two of them had been over different man-made disasters. In language arts we shared writings and gave a few impromptu and improvisation speeches and at the beginning of the year we had a free writing period at the beginning of class in wh...

... natural to have come from practiced reading. All in all, I suppose reading went well for me this year. It usually does, but I suppose we’ll see what the 8th grade holds in store for me.
It has been a long year and I suppose that, I survived and came out mostly in-tact. I never thought it would happen but I made it. That was in no small part thanks to reading, writing, or speaking. They were probably the only parts. My saving grace was probably the fact that I enjoy writing and reading literature and that I can survive public speaking without throwing up. I guess the only big thing left to do now is pull through until summer and then adapt to the eighth grade and see how I do there. It is going to be interesting to see how everything i learned and improved upon carries over to a different grade level and now, with this essay I suppose I will be able to do just that.
Did you know Victor Rodriguez has a crazy first day of school? He ends up talking to lots of people around school but he also embarrasses trying to impress a girl. All of this happens because victor is brave, friendly but also desperate. This all come from the story 7th grade by: Gary Soto.
It took me awhile, but finally I started to get faster. I read every time I got. Out loud. In the car. At recess. Eventually I even read in my head.
It was the drama of junior year, which taught me how to analyze a situation and consider all the variables before I made a big decision. It was the academic obstacles of junior year which boosted my ability to excel in my studies and display my educational potential.... ... middle of paper ... ... Even though I lost so much during junior year, I was unaware of the fact that secretly I was actually gaining a great deal of life experiences and real-life lessons for the future.
Eighth grade was one of the greatest school years of my life. This year was full of new experiences, and I have learned so much from them. In English class, we’ve learned a bunch of skills and did numerous activities. We learned about Anne Frank and the Holocaust. We had the opportunity to read many great books, all having a special and unique meaning to them. Our class also learned a variety of skills and strategies ranging from reading comprehension tips to learning how to use the comma. ELA this year was extremely informative and helpful but amusing at the same time.
In “Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto the main character Victor learns perseverance threw his embarrassing moments. To start of with, in paragraph twenty four Soto wrote “Teresa,” Victor said automatically. Some of the girls giggled. They knew he had a crush on Teresa. He felt himself blushing again.” This shows that Victor seems to be enamored with a girl named Teresa. Victor's classmates knowing about his crush on Teresa shows that he's been smitten for a while. Later on in the story, “Mr. Bueller asked if anyone knew French. Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa. The teacher beamed and said, “Très bien. Parlez-vous français?”
I was devastated that I had to possibly get some of my summer taken away, or re taking the same grade and not going to high school on time. I mostly was just so embarrassed that I had to go through that and not have it easy like others. I then realized that I couldn't give up so easily I needed to just pick myself up and think positive. I knew that I could do it I had to I couldn't just sit for the rest of the year and retake the year. I started to pick up my slack and do what I had to do to pass the 8th
I had a good year in first grade. I became the best artist in the class. I started getting better at English. My first word was “bathroom.” I made two friends Michelle Sherman and Karen Calle. After that I started feeling better and actually liking this school. Everything felt better and worked out great!
Up until the fifth grade, reading was boring for me. I also have dyslexia, so reading was always challenging for me. The letters in the words would switch around, my sentences would fuse together, and it would take me a long time just to read one page. I
Oh seventh grade, what a year to remember. That was actually my favorite year of middle school. At home during this time was a mess and my grades also plummeted but I think going to school took some stress off because I was taking some time to "myself" and forgetting for a while about my home situation. Seventh grade, I would say was a year of friends for me. I had and still to this day have a friend from kindergarten that I considered a best friend. Until a new girl came along, lets call her Patricia. Patricia basically took "my spot" I guess in fifth grade while I was off at my new school for the year. Anyway speeding forward to seventh grade I noticed my best friend, lets call her Amanda, not really talking to me anymore and or passing by
Some may ask why is life hard. Life is an amazing thing and we shouldn’t take the greatness of it for granted. Today you are going to hear a story about a young teenagers life that has been hiding stuff for his family. This young boy in the story makes it through the struggle he is going through. This is something we all have to do keep our head up and keep going no matter what.
My favorite class during seventh grade was English, only because my teacher did not make me do too much writing. Towards the end of the year, she made the class write a book and it was really a fun assignment. I had to write a few short texts, ranging from poems to a short story. The short story was my favorite to write, as I got to write about a fun trip I took with my family. I also had to create illustrations for my writings, which made it easier for me and others to understand. Images helped me understand what the writings were to be about, it helped me see what was to happen without actually reading the
Last year was the most difficult year for math for me. I never understood what we were doing. Everyday was a massive struggle. I never made above a C on a test. It was extremely frustrating. I dreaded going to math everyday.
In eighth grade, the amazing experiences are far more numerous than the regretful moments. First in eighth grade I believe the best part was the teachers. They have all taught me so much, and I will certainly use what they have equipped me with in high school. They all deserve so much for teaching the "future of the world." I am sur...
I was able to overcome many problems and challenge myself in different aspects. At the very beginning of the year, I was very sensitive and having a bad experience meant a bad life to me. Later on, I started to realize what I am doing in school, and why I am here… I understood that life without ups and downs means you're died.
Half way through that year my cousin who is like a brother to me decided it was time for him to move to Phoenix Arizona accompanied by his newly wedded wife and try to make a living there. Him leaving really hit me hard, I was pretty close to becoming depressed. During that time I preferred to keep my mind busy as a result my grades shot up almost forty percent. Math in not my favorite subject at all, but for the first time in my entire life I can say that I really enjoyed and looked forward to going to my first period math class, I had the highest grade in that particular class for that semester. For the rest of that school year after overcoming all my problems I was just going to school getting my work done, get home, finish homework and do some work around the house.
