After watching a competition shoot in April 2014 I decided to pursue archery as a personal hobby. I chose to learn how to shoot on a compound bow because it is the easiest bow to draw back and more forgiving on your body. Since I have committed myself to archery I now shoot in monthly competitions and have also taken my bow hunting with me. While shooting my bow I have become more efficient at decision making and also staying focused and calm while processing different motions and information at once. Most importantly archery has helped boost myself esteem while creating a stronger bond and shared interest with my husband.

Hunting is an activity of tracking and shooting wild animals for food or sport. Hunting was necessary at the beginning of time for man’s survival, providing food and clothing. Today, hunting is a part of American culture and connects man with his primal self. The first sight of the hunted is exhilarating. Taking the shot and providing food continues to be rewarding for the hunters. Opponents of hunting fail to understand how hunters can experience such an intense connection with nature while attempting to kill a prey. These opponents also fail
The day that I turned 12 was a special day. It was special because it meant I was old enough to go hunting. When fall hit I was so excited I thought I was going to explode. Confidence flows through me once I receive my results, and I dance and float around my living room all night, bragging to anyone who will listen.
My dad and I woke up early on that Saturday morning. It was a chilly as I sat in my deer stand, but the forest was alive with activity, the birds were chirping a tune, the squirrels were running along the tree branches, and the breeze blew through the tree branches, making a calming sound. As the day wore on not a single deer had walked close enough for me too get off a shot. As it neared lunch time I packed up my hunting gear and headed back
thought it was going to be just an average day, but I was most definitely wrong. I had put on my hunting clothes, clipped my ammunition on my black pants, then held my shotgun under my arm. After making sure I was all good to go hunting in the woods, I set off. As I started walking, I could hear people talking in the distance, gravel crunching under my feet and deer galloping across the forest floor. It was very good I could hear deer because I was on one mission; to hunt any animals. I needed the meat to feed my family. Even though it seemed like we were wealthy; being that I had hunting equipment and we owned an acreage, we had just gone bankrupt around 3 months ago.
